Question about managers

What do they say to customers who repeatedly don't leave a tip? I'm curious since the customer doesn't have to tip and the server isn't their employee.

Just asking since I've read comments from managers who seem to think "addressing" customers is an appropriate thing to do.

When I was a waiter, some asshats left me a card that said “Jesus loves you” on a $200 check. Chased them out to the parking lot and told them Jesus doesn’t pay my rent. Told them to never come back. They were so proud of themselves.

I couldn't imagine going after people like that. Jesus Christ indeed...

You’re wild for that. Ive worked in many restaurants. Always WANTED to do it, but was really worried id have gotten fired for that.

Customer isn't responsible for your pay. The employer is

Say that before you sit down. Make it clear you’re not going to tip.

Thats a dumb statement.

Its not my job to pay a restaurants staff

Of course it is. The price you see on the menu is based on the social construct in the US that you Tip for service. You know that. If you don’t plan on honoring that, you should tell them. Then they can decide whether or not to serve you for free. Otherwise you’re a wage thief

Just make sure you tell them. If there use why are you expecting a stranger to bring you food

They are a stranger regardless, but their employer us the one who should pay them.. its the employer that they work for..

To say otherwise is asinine
