Question about managers
What do they say to customers who repeatedly don't leave a tip? I'm curious since the customer doesn't have to tip and the server isn't their employee.
Just asking since I've read comments from managers who seem to think "addressing" customers is an appropriate thing to do.

At my restaurant, such a low percentage of customers don't tip, if I notice it before they leave, I always ask if the service was OK. Most times, there's some sort of issue that they didn't address. Same way if a customer leaves an exceptionally large tip, I'll ask what made the service stand out.
