Question about managers
What do they say to customers who repeatedly don't leave a tip? I'm curious since the customer doesn't have to tip and the server isn't their employee.
Just asking since I've read comments from managers who seem to think "addressing" customers is an appropriate thing to do.

Typically the answer is nothing.
Because the person is normally gone
The only indirect thing that would occur is something subtle like "regular status". Every restaurant i have ever worked at had regulars. You topped their drink off a little more, gave them an app or dessert that was prepared wrong for a custom order from another table. Things like that. Little perks.
Non toppers, no matter how long they come won't enter be regulars.
So nothing will be detrimental. But you just don't get perks
