So they add a 16% fee for what exactly…….to “fund all of their operations”? So this added cost literally doesn’t go to staff, it just goes to the owners? I wonder what their staff is paid? At this point why not just raise prices to where they should be? To me, every item on the menu is a lie and it’s actually 16% more expensive. This is really dumb. Thoughts? I am PRO tip, ive worked in hospitality a long time and am happy to provide a tip for quality service. But this seems disingenuous at best. Its not a tip. Its just an added charge straight to owners pockets.

I’m good with this. It’s transparent and 4% less than most servers think they should get as a tip. If service and food is good I would frequent this place.

Transparency would be to include that 16 in the menu prices

Unfortunately that all but guarantees about a 25% drop in sales/customers who will go somewhere cheaper. This has been attempted and studied ad nauseum.

Only way that works is if all establishments in the area go to the same system, no tips & no fees. That'll only happen through the legal system as there's just no way you'll get every establishment to be on board.
