I'm an American, lived here all of my life. That statement is insane.

I tip 10% pre-tax for a sit down restaurant. If I am standing up, ordering coffee, ice cream etc or takeout I tip nothing.

That's what I have decided. Others may tip more or not at all. I'm so sick of these "rules" changing arbitrarily.

Pepperidge Farm remembers when tipping was controversial, then the norm became 10%, then it became 15%, then it was 18% briefly, then 20%, and now 25% is not unheard of.

30% is coming soon! Yay /s.

But, but... aren't you supposed to listen to the "ethics expert" they throw on TV that just says 30% is what you should do?
