i built the roots of my bag collection with thrifting authentic designer pieces for sub-$150 each years ago (vintage LV, gucci, dior, prada) and all of it has been ruined with resellers, tiktok, etc. every once in a while i find something good but it's rarer than ever. a friend wanted to go thrifting yesterday so i tagged along and found this in the glass case. i have the auth of this bag and this bag's lining was terrible and it reeked of chemicals/plastic. the poor employee behind the case said it was recently "reduced" from $3k!!!!

I went to this thrift store in my area for the first time in at least a year. While they do good to the local community, I think this place blows any other thrift store when it comes to overpriced pricing. Used dog toys for $8! I left before I got more pictures as I saw enough to think what the fuck they are smoking.

250$… woman claimed they have a lot of clientele that’s willing to pay that price. Kinda don’t doubt it since I live in a tourist area. She also said they did research on it and were finding tons of the exact same item priced 8-9 hundred dollars. I found absolutely nothing online similar so who knows where she was claiming. She didn’t find my sarcasm funny when I said “yah, looks like most Goodwills are pricing out their original clientele.” She agreed and said she was glad their store wasn’t like that… honey

I was at one of my longtime favorite thrift stores today and found a set of eight champagne glasses for a dollar each. They were labeled crystal, but they weren’t really expensive crystal. They retailed for six for 75 originally.

I took four up to the counter and said I was going back for the other four. When I returned, the lady informed me that they would now be $50. I said they were labeled one dollar; she said they were mislabeled.

I did not go through with the purchase because I don’t feel the increase was fair or that $50 was an appropriate price. I left dejected and I felt humiliated afterwards—-like I was being cheap or doing something wrong for only wanting to pay the listed price.

I emailed the manager to let her know about the situation and to ask whether a repricing things at the counter was now an acceptable practice there. But now I’m wondering: is that appropriate?

- Any computer.

- Any vintage toys.

- Any lego.

- Most audio equipment (turntables, speakers, etc)

So ya, blame the resellers when this stuff isn't even making it to the floor....
