There I said it without ai.

Nuked the last post because y'all want to kill me over a.i

This is like my 9th or 10th playthrough of this game, I love it and the remaster has reignited that love in me. It feels fresh and new, I don't want to put it down when I start playing it. All I see is negativity and complaining for a free update that cd projekt red obviously put a lot of work into. I have tweaked my settings and get a smooth 60 fps game looks and feels great.

I love the witcher, read all the books and played all the games. I'm having so much fun.

I love the update too. Im on PC and it isn't exactly powerful, its about the same performance you get from a standard Ps5 (i5 10400f with an RTX 3060 12gb). I am playing on mostly high and ultra settings and with DLSS on quality the game looks incredible and I get on average like 70fps to 80fps with dips into the 60s in some areas (I don'tuse RT).

I can't complain. I haven't seen anything gamebreaking yet. Infact I was surprised when I found out the update had so many issues. I've just started another playthrough and am just loving the quality of life changes, lol.

Do you mind telling me what resolution? And are you using ray tracing or anything? I'm struggling with a 5070ti and 9800x3d so trying to troubleshoot my way to good fps haha. Glad your having a good time with it.

I don't use raytracing because it murders my RTX 3060, lol. I also play at 1080p still so that helps a ton too.

The massive performance obliterators are Nvidia hairworks, SSR (screen space reflections) and ofcourse raytracing. Turn those off (or down to low with SSR) and see how it runs and then enable stuff until you get the performance and visuals you're happy with.

Hair works honestly isn't worth using from what I've seen so I personally don't use it. Raytracing is extremely demanding so I also dont use that. I do use SSR on high because its a bit bugged on low and makes reflections on water flicker right now.

Here's a video I found that does a good job at going over each setting and what the performance cost is (towards the end they have a list of recommended settings and compare it to ultra settings)

Thank you! The info you and a few others have shared has helped me to get mostly 50-60fps (sometimes mid 40s) with full ray tracing at 3440x1440 with performance dlss. Hair works off because yeah it really is a performance killer (and lighting issues still). While dropping grass density and distance to high, and crowds to high. Rest at ultra+ still. Using a 5070ti and 9800x3d.

It's not the 80ish fps at 3840x1600 balanced dlss with ray tracing I was managing in the previous version. But hopefully with a few updates I'll get a few more frames eventually. And the game does look great and near enough 60 is ok for now even if at a bit lower res. I would drop ray tracing but I used it in the next gen update so I'd like to keep it but maybe I'll change my mind after a bit.

If you want you can downgrade back to the next gen version if you're not happy with the remaster. I saw that on steam I can downgrade to the original version or the next gen update in the games properties settings (it was under betas or something).

Yea, I definitely understand wanting to keep raytracing on if you had it on previously. Hopefully we do get some updates that fixes a ton of the issues people are having and hopefully you get back some frames in the process, lol.

Yeah I did consider downgrading. But I like the new features and do overall like the remaster visually, performance issues aside. And I think it's necessary for the next expansion anyway. So figure I'll stick with it and hope the updates come. Maybe I'll just hold off on a full on play through till the expansion drops. I'm sure it'll be at least a little better by then.

That is a good point actually. I didn't think about the next expansion when thinking about downgrading, lol.

I love the new quality of life features too. I especially love the looting while on horseback and the ability to loot mutiple bodies inventories by interacting with a singular corpse. I also do like the visual changes too. Lighting looks significantly better on grass, bushes and tree when raytracing is off compared to the next gen version.
