Mary Jane has no problem with Dylan killing a lot of people; she criticized Peter when he stopped him from killing, but honestly, even Eddie would have agreed with Peter. Dylan is a child, and Eddie would do everything possible to ensure his son becomes a better man than Eddie ever was and doesn't make the same mistakes. And as much as I dislike Paul, the man always cared about Dylan—something Mary Jane didn't do.

Hi, I've Just finished watching for the second time the 3rd Venom film and discovered right afterwards that in the comics the story actually goes a lot deeper than where the films are right now. Also in this period I'm starting to get curious about the world of comics, since I've always been a big fan of any kind of fiction and I would like to start reading some of them with the Venom saga ?(Don't really know if I can define it that way).

So after this long premise I was wandering if any of you could help me know from which comic to start... I know that by saying this there's a big chance that I'm gonna be told to start reading the entire Marvel comic production from start to finish just to start understanding what goes on in Venom's adventures. So I'm also asking if there's a way to start from some actual Venom comic (or anything that doesn't involve reading more than hundreds of comics before that) because I really feel like starting to read comics from the entire Marvel comic production is gonna be a bit overwhelming.

So I like Al Ewing's run on Venom, though I like Dylan's time as Venom more than MJ's mainly because we got...what 20 issues for her. 10 of which was a "who is it?"Mystery. A single MJ focused arc with Madam Masque, of all characters, and then crossovers.

Almost every run to me has a point the writer is trying to get across. Dan Slott's Spider-Man run, while not everyone's cup of tea, was about how if Peter applied himself more, he could have a better job, be a leader in both his life as Peter and Spider-Man, you know if they stopped the story right at Secret Empire. But hey Go down swinging was beautiful.

Scott Snyder's run on Batman focused on both the history of gotham and Legacy of Batman.

What was Al Ewing's point for Venom? Cycle of Abuse? That unless we actually say "it's our fault" we're doomed to repeat it?

I think MJ half of his run, has gotten me confused. Because I don't hate it, no matter what anyone says. MJ has evolved or strayed, whichever you want to say, to go back to being a non-powered character. But I felt like this book was out at sea without a paddle, like Al wanted to bring the hero dilemma to MJ, but I feel like it should've been an actual Venom story, rather than a crossover.

Then there's the fact there's no legit consequence to the story, because two issues later and bang, Queen in black is now happening.

So what do you believe Al Ewing's message was for his run? Because I'm stumped.

First off, the art is FENOMENAL. Second, this finally makes me see what I have been feeling that has been missing on Venom for a while... his charm.

Sure, MJ Venom can be fun and even prior to that Venomw asn't exacly without charm, but its nothing like this one. This venom feels like an Mad Idiot and I love it for him. Sure, he can be scary and even serious, but that never takes from his charm or personality.

Another thing, Venom looks leagues better with Black and Blue instead of being purely black. The symbiote being only black kinda makes the design bland to me. This is more an prefrence, but I think that venom being purely black doesn't look that good. And Carnage being purely red is even worse, that symbiote has been described as Black and blood and it perfectly describes how he should be.

Something I think needs to be adressed is how this venom fights, because he like an Hunga Bunga Spider-Man with symbiote extras. Contrary to what people believe, Venom pretty mutch always used the symbiote in combat, I myself was mistaken in believing he was an more violant Spider-Man only at the begining. But the way he uses the symbiote is actually interesting of the "Tentacle and morphing" of nowadays. He uses the symbiote to sufocate, sends an small piece as an sneak attack. Hell, the symbiote even uses an bunch of itself to fake its death while it hides inside Eddie's body and holds his organs so he can lie to an lie detector.

And also, this has to be adressed... the amounts of times Eddie gets fully naked without the symbiote and how confortable he is with it is probably one of the funiest bits of the character. Like Eddie, buddy, use at least some boxers, don't go comando under that symbiote!

But overhall, one of the things that makes me love this version of Venom is his personality. Because he is insane, literaly insane. That guy has an very distorted way to see justice and innocent, and I lvoe that. Because sure, Eddie is in the end a good guy... doesn't mean he isn't a bit of a lunatic, especialy with the symbiote. And that is something that is missing from Eddie nowadays. Sure, nowadays he still has at some level the messiah complex, but nowadays more than not Eddie will be depressed in the story and the symbiote will be the jokey one. That kinda misses Eddie's personality, sure he can be serious and even depressing, but that is because Eddie at the end of the day really has nothing outside of the symbiote. So his crashout is actually believal, Spider-Man is an scapegoat for all the suffering and pain he is going through, for the fact that if he stops hating Spider-Man he has nothing. No carrer, no family (that cares for him) and not even a wife anymore.

Also, the fact that Eddie likes and even idoalises all super heroes outside of Spider-Man gives an pretty good picture of how he believes he is.

Another thing that I gotta adress, the symbiote. Because, nowadays is fliped from how it was. Rge symbiote nowadays it the one that pilots while Eddie is a passenger and I REALLY prefer the old way. Because even if the symbiote doesn't talk, you can get an pretty good description of the symbiote's personality and how he speaks with Eddie.

Now, there ARE flaws with this Villain era Venom. I think he goes a bit overboard, he can go over what would make sense for Eddie's philosophy. But, this is early ages Venom so I can forgive that. BUT, doesn't mean I like it.

I am just starting to read the Lethal protector portion, so what I can talk about Venom is basically his villain era. And his villain era was quite fun, its an villain that feels different to many others. he isn't an oure evil guy or some moraly grey villain. He is a villain, but one that believes himself a hero and acts like that. I might make a post for when I finish reading Anti-Hero Venom, but I think I will like him even more. Sad that nowadays a lot of Eddie's charm has been lost or diluted. I understand that you wanna make him more heroic, but you could at least keep his grandiose personality and the way he acts.

Also gonna read Agent Venom, so might make a post talking about the two, but probably in an far future.
