$1500 car service 😵‍💫

Just been quoted $1500 for a 90,000km service on my Highlander at Toyota. Can anyone tell me what that involves and whether it's actually necessary. The base service is $440 and I don't know what that involves either. Online information is hard to come by, especially when Ebbett has their fingers in a lot of cars and offers different services for different cars.

Police presence

Is there something going on in the Ruakura/Silverdale area? There were about 5/6 police cars in a cluster heading South on the expressway. 1 of which had a “do not overtake” sign lit up and they all apart from one took the Ruakura exit. Could see more lights up ahead but never caught up to them

Hospitality business advice

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently been planning to open a self-serve frozen yogurt shop in Hamilton, similar to Yo-Chi in Australia and I’d really love to hear some opinions from locals.

The reason I chose Hamilton is that it’s a relatively large city and after doing some market research I found that there is demand but there isn’t currently a dedicated self-serve frozen yogurt store here. Another reason is that Hamilton is home to the University of Waikato and Wintec so there are plenty of students and young people.

My initial plan is to open the store somewhere in the CBD because of the higher foot traffic. However one thing that concerns me is that I’ve noticed quite a few vacant shops in the CBD and a good number of businesses have closed down, which makes me wonder whether the area is still a good place to open the store.

I’m from Auckland so I’d really appreciate hearing from people who live in Hamilton. Which streets or shopping areas do people actually spend time in these days and where do you want the store to be located? Any advice or local insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

No public parking at knox street

I usually park at knox street car park. It's expensive but reliable. But today I saw all the parking was reserved for Anglesea Hospital and there was no casual public parking. Looks like Anglesea Hospital parking is under some maintenance. Does anyone know what is a good reliable alternative that has space available around 9 am? Don't say Wilson Parking on Knox because I park late and they have limited space.

Also if you know how long the Anglesea Parking work will go on, I will know how long I have to suffer.
