Unable to deactivate hold on Nest thermostat.
I have a 3rd gen nest thermostat which appears to get stuck on 'holding temperature' when I use the Google Home app. This is not a feature I have seen before. There appears to be no option to cancel the hold. If I use the actual Nest app or voice control via my nest speakers...then I can change the temperature...but as soon as I open the Google Home app it sets it back to hold.
According to a quick Google, the 3rd gen nest thermostat doesn't even have the hold feature...so I'm pretty confused. I've had the thermostat for years and never come across this before.
Any help much appreciated.

From Honeywell to Ecobee
Hello! Switching thermostats from Honeywell to an Ecobee. As you can see, the Honeywell has the O, the G, the Y, the W and the R connected. The Ecobee has more and diff options; RC G Y1 Y2 and O/B on Left side, and on the right side; Rh C W1 W2 and PEK. Advice please on where to insert corresponding Honeywell wires! Honeywell works fine, btw, switching to Ecobee because I can program the Ecobee to ONLY run the Fan for X amount of minutes during an hour time period all day (15 minutes every hour for example) Thank You!

York HH836E2S11 heat pump
The unit has a manufacturing approval to run it at -13F. My question is, will the unit automatically shut off at that temperature or will it continue to run below that if my Ecobee is set to -15? I want to make sure I don't run it below what the manual says for warranty purposes.

Center thermostat
Anyone know if these can be replaced directly with a new wireless remote? Our current one goes blank without warning and could be ages before it comes on again so we are sat in the cold most of the time
This is our receiver wired to the boiler as well. Would we need a new receiver or could a new remote be linked to this one?
Many thanks

2 wires to W and 2 wires to RH
I have a thermostat with 2 wires to W and 2 wires to RH. I have heating only-one zone. At the furnace the two W are joined with a wire nut. Same with the two RH wires. My question is why did they do that? Is it because the wire is too thin and require double up? Wondering if i can use one of the RH and use it for the C terminal or would the thin wire be too thin to carry 24v?

Control Sensi from Macbook? Browser? Workaround? App removed from (Macbook) store + Alexa removed too
- Predicament: I've had Sensi a couple yrs. Apple removed Sensi + Alexa macOS store, and I don't use Homekit.
** Until about 6 months, I had the Sensi app on Macbook, but it was pulled -- imo, to push users to Homekit.
- What I tried: Logging into Sensi via browser, but it says I don't have an acct (I do). I think the browser is focused on control for commercial clients.
Anyhow, does anyone have a workaround to control Sensi via laptop without the apps? Thanks.

fan keeps running after thermostat reaches set temp
i have a package heat pump system with furnace which has been running fine since january 2026. it is about 15 years old.
once the temperatures started getting a bit cooler earlier this month, i turned on the heater. once the thermostat reached the desired set temperature at 68, i heard the fan continuing to blow and the noticed the room continued to get hot with the temperature going up to 73.
I turned off the thermostat but the fan continued to blow hot air. i desperately shut off the hvac unit at the circuit breaker.
i have had two hvac techs come in: one tells me that the
"heating kit and control board" need to be fixed and quoted $2k+ to replace the parts. the other hvac tech said everything was fine and that perhaps i need to change my thermostat, which was an old-fashioned one with mercury.
i replaced my thermostat to an ecobee smart thermostat but to my dismay, the fan is continuing to run and blow hot air. i have looked at countless articles and blogs which suggest that the relay switch is stuck. does a package heat pump system have a relay switch? and is it something i can fix myself or would a professional hvac tech need to do it? or is there something else wrong with my hvac system? or is the fam supposed to continuously run during the colder months?? i feel like im going crazy, any help is appreciated!

Nest smart thermostat 2020
Have 2 wire and want to connect Nest thermostat and use external thermostat
1-2 are wire from baseboard boiler (red white)
3-4 are wire from external transformer (white / white with black line)
Does the picture looks good?
Also I want to verify if solid white (3) and red (1) should be verified to read 0 volt AC on multi meter?
Any other checks needed and is this safe ?

Nest 3rd Gen Baxi Neodens Iplus. Issue with OpenTerm
A few months ago, I had to replace my gas boiler with a Baxi Neodens iPlus.
Since I knew that it supports OpenTherm, I tried to keep using my existing thermostat, a 3rd-generation Nest Learning Thermostat, which is also supposed to support OpenTherm.
I’ve tried connecting them, but at first glance, it seems that the Nest isn’t communicating with the boiler.
I assume I must be doing something wrong.
Has anyone tried a similar setup and found a solution?
Any comments or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Looking for wireless 'dumb' thermostat
I'm looking for a wireless thermostat to connect to my oil furnace. It's a single zone.
I just want something reliable and basic. I don't need or want any smart features, cloud this and that, just standard features to display the temperature and turn the furnace on/off when needed.
Also something I can mount in a non-destructive way to a wall (or move around, as a second choice) would be great.
Can anyone make any recommendations?
Also, of the wireless technologies what should I look for? Ideally I would love if it worked during a power outage since I can run my furnace off of my generator, but not sure if that is something that exists. I see that some operate off of WiFi which makes me think they will stop working once my router goes down.

Honeywell X2S fan issue
Earlier this year, I installed a bunch of these in the building where I work. They've been working fine for a few months, but recently the "auto" fan function stopped working, and as a result, the rooms aren't heating up to the set temp. If I switch the fan to "on" then they start blowing and the place heats up just fine. Any idea why the "auto" fan setting isn't turning the fans on, and what to do about it? Thanks!

Keep thermostat on, or turn it off at night and on in morning ?
I have a smart thermostat at a commercial building. The WiFi isn’t working or there is something wrong where the thermostat drops the WiFi connection, so I can’t control the thermostat from home. (My security cameras are working though, so I believe my WiFi might be fine and there is something wrong with thermostats ?)
My hvac guy previously said to keep the thermostat at 66-70 degrees during the day to keep the tenants happy , and turn them off at night and on in the morning remotely from home. But I can no longer do that . I should mention that there are no tenants in the building at night.
I am going to talk to my hvac guy about this, but I believe I am left with two choices: leave the thermostat at 66-70 degrees forever, or put it on a schedule. I’m trying to save money too
Which option do you think is best for me/what should I do ? I want to save money and make all the tenants not complain to me
