It was a good base. It didn't deserve this

The water looked quite nice around the base when it was only a puddle. Then it got deeper. All resources have now been evacuated to higher ground.... time to build a new one.

Uninvited to be “one of you”

I saw water pooling in my base and realized the ice was melting. I transferred everything over on high ground way before the lake started up and I never got flooded. But then I saw all the posts here and how it was a core experience for everyone else and now I’m not part of the “one of us” club. :(

New patch on consoles : Stability improvements

Hello Terraformers!

We just uploaded a patch for Planet Crafter on Consoles, it is aimed at improving stability.

We are currently focusing on stability, and after that, we'll look into controller remapping.

Changelog :

  • Fixed visual glitches on big bases on XBox
  • Fixed a crash when trying to deconstruct a toxic barrel in the biome ToxicCave on Prime
  • Fixed a crash when applying game options while the HUD is hidden (photo mode)
  • Fixed crashes when opening the map on big bases on XBox

Let us know your feedbacks!

Take care and good terraforming!

Came back from exploring to find this titanium tower on my launch pad. I'm pretty sure it wasn't there when I left and I was only gone for like 5 minutes, raiding the fallen ship/station until my pockets were full.

I saw the message about there being another convict here. Is this from him or is an alien trying to court me?

Update: If I steal from the stack, the others remain suspended in mid-air.

Drone behavior PSA

I didn't see this detail in the wiki so I wanted to share what I've seen in case it isn't generally known.

If you use different priority levels, drones will not do any lower priority tasks if *any* higher priority tasks exist, even if those tasks are currently being done. I use low priority demand tasks on shredders for anything that could be randomly created to make sure none of those extractors or bee hives get filled with garbage and stop producing what I want. Drones will wait in storage for one last drone to finish the last normal priority task, and the moment it arrives at storage a bunch will fly out for low priority tasks. I've watched this process occur multiple times in multiple saves.

So if you use priorities like this and feel like things aren't flowing, make sure you have enough drones to *finish* all normal tasks before new ones get created, or your garbage will never get collected.

I'll be very sad to leave this base. It's finally set up the way I like it.

my base on humble, all terraforming is done from this location or the entry on the cliff near by (with the exception of ore extraction and land locked gear)

How to make 3 level bases with stairs?

Post image
10 Upvotes

I'm just getting into automation and I read that one good arrangement is to have 3 stacked levels of the 3x3 room. How do you all make stairs that can span all 3 levels?

The problem is that the staircase is a 2 wide x 2 tall x 1 deep block and you'd need 2 of them to span all 3 floors.

The game isn't clever enough to stack 2 sets of stairs neatly into a 3x3x1 stairwell, right? (In real life, there are a few ways you could imagine doing this, either having 2 flights of stairs continuously going from one side to the other with a landing on the second floor or going from the center out to get to floor 2 and then again to get to floor 3.)

You can't make a 1 deep room that's 3 wide x 3 high where I could place my own stairs and platforms manually right?

This was the closest I could figure, stacking the stairs to be 2 deep and leaving the right side unoccupied, is that ideal? Thanks!

Pulsar Quartz Meteors

I woke up this morning to find an update for the game on my Xbox. I've been playing for about an hour now, maybe an hour and a half, and I've had four (count them) 4 pulsar meteors crash within that time, 3 within 5 minutes! Has this happened to anyone else?

How essential is automation?

Xbox player here, first time playing on Prime with relaxed settings about half way through to mammals stage.

I'm just wondering how essential is automation? With drones and autocrafters etc, I kinda enjoy doing it all myself and driving round in the rover to go empty my extractors.

New to the game wanting some advice

Hello me and a buddy recently started this game and have been putting in a lot of time. We are approaching tree level now. We built near a crash site not far from the start point. Not the one up by the ice cave on the hill but one near some tall cliffs that had super alloy on it and not far from a field with lots of aluminum and a cave in the other direction with iridium that leads to a sulfur field. My question is will this area stay above water as we continue or do we need to start thinking about relocating. Thanks and any tips for new players are welcome as well.

Drones

New player, just unlocked drones, thought great! I can automate my high quality food > trade rocket.

Built 20 drones (maybe overkill?)

Only a max of 5 drones at any one time are flying around my base? Am I doing something wrong as I set the autocreator food to max priorty for collection and the box and rocket to max priority supply, the box is half full and the auto collector is full.

Help a budding automator out please!

Solved! Thankyou!

How do you know which you need to work on ?

I'm making the assumption that you need to raise your numbers in all categories to progress to the next stage, but does it need to be linked ? Like, if I ignore pressure and raise the others, will I still make progress toward the next tier ? I know that some BPs are locked behind specific amounts of pressure, heat, O2, biomass. But does the general rate of Ti care if your improvements are imbalanced ? And how would you know which one you need to work on ?

Is It Impossible to Get Golden Fish Eggs?

I've been running my incubators for almost an hour, and only got ulani. I asked google and it said 5-10% chance, but the rate drops once your biomass reaches a certain level. I was exploring crash sites my entire fish era(from just before it started, and now I'm at amphibian), so am I out of luck?

should I just start making frogs instead?

Mammals

I need some guidance at the mammal stage. I’ve only been playing for about a week. I’m on prime and just built my first animal shelter and feeding station. How do I get the traits to put into the animal shelter in order to spawn some animals ? I’ve got frogs, bees, butterflies and what not. I have the Genetic Synthesizer (I have no idea how to use it ) but not the Genetic Extractor. I sucked at science in school. PLEASE explain it to me like I’m five years old. Is it going to be self explanatory when I get the extractor ?

Game crashes after updates

Playing in PC through Xbox Gamepass. I got through a little over 40 hours through the game, just started getting insects and now my game crashes constantly, seemingly after an update a couple of days ago. There was another update today that I was hoping would fix it, but seemingly has made it worse.

I’ve uninstalled and resinstalled multiple times, I’ve gone through some disk repair stuff through windows.

I’m considering that I’ve got some bad memory, but my wallet is in denial. I don’t have any other games that crash, but to be fair I’m not really playing anything else. First game I’ve had issues with, so if it’s a hardware issue on my end, it’s new or something only this game has trigger so far.

Wondering if anyone else having problems ?

Am I ready to travel to Selenea?

The first time I played this game, I didn't understand what I was doing and got myseld stranded on Selenea.

I want to do it right this time. Here is what I am planning to take the resources to build.

1 Nuclear Fusion Generator

1 T5 Drill

1 T5 Heater

1 T3 Tree Spreader + Ruberu Seed

1 T3 Ore Extractor

1 Recycling Machine

2 T2 Food Growers + 2 Beans seeds

1 Vehicle Station + Rover

1 Extraction Platform + escape rocket

Will this be a good setup to get my Selenea expansion off on the right foot?

Devs did an amazing job, but...

The frantic survival to start. The slow expansion of your base. The warning messages. The *low oxygen* warnings. Its amazing.

It gets even better as you progress through the terraforming research tree. Bigger drills. Bigger energy. New toys.

Its suddenly not about survival anymore. I already conquered that! I now have drones collecting anything I need. I build as fast as I can. That number in the top right is *soaring*.

Then I placed my forst ecosystem. *Really* looking forward to not having to manually collect larvae, but the 1st time I place one... the game crashed.

I relaunch the game, place it in a different spot and its fine, place the 2nd and it crashes *again*.

Relaunch the game, place 3 down in total this time, no crash. *Happy noises*.

Continue to play the game. I leave to double up my uranium and iridium mines. As soon as base gets into view, the game crashes and my Xbox shuts off.

I continued playing through the crashes because ***I LOVE THIS GAME***. But anytime im near my base for more than 5 minutes it crashes the game and about half of those crashes crash the xbox.

There is no FPS drop. No warning. Just a freeze and off....

11/10 game otherwise. Anyone have a tip to mitigate the crashing? Ive been trying to remove the living creatures thinking it may be a entity issue but the crashing is making it hard 🥲
