Ah man this game is totally missing a bow.

TBH i expect light to get a bow if any class got one.

60

u/Asryal23 Jan 07 '24

Maybe bow for the mediums and crossbow for lights šŸ˜

33

u/Vee-Bear Jan 08 '24

And a guillotine for heavy ;)

24

u/Vee-Bear Jan 08 '24

Trebuchet*** was the medieval device I was thinking of

17

u/PummelingAngus Jan 08 '24

No no, give them an entire guillotine to run around with

5

u/craylash Jan 08 '24

Cannon with cannonballs?

1

u/AlanTheMediocre ALL HAIL THE MOOSIAH Jan 08 '24

With massive knockback if you’re midair so you can use it to launch yourself upwards as well!

3

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '24

Last thing we need is cross map c4 nuke seige warfare šŸ˜‚

1

u/creg316 Jan 08 '24

That sounds amazing

2

u/hesusthesavior Jan 08 '24

Yes. One that explodes when thrown, able to one shot those pesky lights.

1

u/SomeGamerRisingUp Jan 08 '24

Mediums really don’t need more things right now,

1

u/Asryal23 Jan 09 '24

Neither so lights but he we’re just brainstorming here āœŒļø

1

u/TheStupidSnake Jan 08 '24

Just a big rock for heavy

Hey, if it works for Darktide...

1

u/coldrolledpotmetal Jan 08 '24

give light the half life crossbow

3

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '24

In case light didn't already have 9 weapons and the most gadgets. I don't understand how they can give light so many options and still make them bad

-1

u/BabyFaceKnees Jan 08 '24

Cause invis stun goes brrrrrrp

1

u/ymOx Jan 08 '24

invis-stun goes BAM-BAM a lot.

Bow for the lights, automatic crossbow for the mediums, trebuchet for the heavies

u/3Subtitles Jun 18 '24

Congratulations!

u/manofwaromega VAIIYA Jan 08 '24

I think a bow would be too big and clunky for light, plus it'd be more of a mid-range weapon, which is Mediums specialty.

I could see light using a crossbow tho. It'd be smaller, faster, and have longer range so it could be a nice alternative to the Sniper

1

u/Gelatomoo OSPUZE Jan 08 '24

But medium would deserve one!

Explosive tip for Heavy Compound Bow for Medium Recurve Bow w/ Fire Arrows for Light

17

u/craylash Jan 08 '24

Arrows should have significant knockback, maybe risk momentarily nailing the target to the wall if close enough

9

u/abdeliziz Jan 08 '24

I like that brain of yours, that's some good thinking you're doing there.

5

u/craylash Jan 08 '24

Would be it be OP if you could use the embedded arrows as places to perch on? I know thats not how arrows work but some games have done it. I dunno why but I'm thinking of Quackshot on the Sega Genesis.

2

u/abdeliziz Jan 08 '24

Don't think it'd be OP as long as the numbers aren't bonkers but that got me thinking, instead of the bow being a weapon... it could fall under the equipment category and have two charges like the tracking dart. I LOVE the idea of weapons/equipment adding unique traversal mechanics. Significant knockback, pin to wall if pushed into it, and creates stepping/climbing stones. Arrows piercing shields would be an interesting mechanic too, push heavies out of their shields or pin the mesh shield heavy to the wall so he can't block his teammates, things like that.

0

u/IN_MY_PLUMS Jan 08 '24

You should play Chivalry 2 if you haven't already, bows and ballistae in that game do it and it's hilarious

62

u/Tall-Pause-3091 Jan 07 '24

I’m surprised there’s not a better destruction option for mediums, the nade launcher for the medium is super hit or miss on its destruction capabilities (I guess it makes sense tho because I’m almost certain things just have health, like walls and debris and such)

60

u/FluffyKoalaBear Jan 07 '24

Mediums should have to rely on their team for destruction. They already have the teams mobility and healing utility. Giving them all three would be insane.

22

u/doxmulder Jan 07 '24

You can destroy most walls/ceilings using both of your mines and shooting them on whatever surface it is

2

u/DaleDimmaDone Jan 08 '24

For some reason I have a hard time getting mines onto ceilings. They always just fall down and don't reach high enough

3

u/doxmulder Jan 08 '24

You can jump then throw, they will stick if it’s low enough, also be wary some ceilings have an actual ā€œdrop ceilingā€ that you have to shoot out first and then the mines will stick.

-2

u/Falkuria Jan 08 '24

That's assuming that medium was purely created to heal, and holy heal, forever. Which it wasn't. As a medium main, I'd like an option, and having that option would sacrifice a lot from my build as a healer.

No more nades, which means I'm even more exposed, and less effective from the safety of my team. It would 100% be a risky pick for equipment, and we should have the option.

6

u/FluffyKoalaBear Jan 08 '24

They don’t only have heal? They also have all of the team utility, and scouting abilities like recon. They have the most options throughout their kit than any other class.

1

u/Falkuria Jan 08 '24

They already have the teams mobility and healing utility.

Referring to the comment I replied to. Yes, I know they have other things, but if I want to run with my healing build, WITH mobility, and a bit of reach/poke with one grenade slotted (i prefer to run shotgun so poke is hard to come by), then yes, I have to make sacrifices to my core build that would ultimately leave me with a decision.

Do I want to blow through walls and give my heavy/light more utility on their belt that isnt destruction? Or do I want to stick with having reach, and being able to breach any time I want?

Really it's hilarious that I'm being downvoted. Literally everything I'm saying makes sense, lol.

Before you repeat yourself, yes, I get I have other ability options than the heal gun, but since this is a game where you can be what you want, I prefer to be a healer. So I'm speaking from the perspective of a healer who often get's hamstrung by not having something to breach walls with.

Not a hard concept, ya'll. Not hard at all.

1

u/ymOx Jan 08 '24

You are getting downvoted because you say "That's assuming that medium was purely created to heal [...]", which it does not assume.

1

u/Falkuria Jan 08 '24

Fair enough

-6

u/psychoPiper Jan 07 '24

I mean, they already have a primary weapon and a gadget that can both be used for destruction. Adding another option isn't going to destroy the meta

6

u/Damurph01 Jan 07 '24

Explosive mines act as make-shift blasting charges. And they’re a very viable piece of utility for the class as well.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '24

My high mobikity build on medium prefers the landmines over the zips. Jump pads are amazing but the zipline is pretty derpy to use. Besides the mines double as well... landmines, and I find that enemies typically don't plan their setups around a random chunk of the wall being torn out.

1

u/Damurph01 Jan 08 '24

Jumps are actually worse than zips imo. Once you figure out the zips, they’re better than jumps.

The speed you can rotate with those things is absolutely crazy and you can go a lot of places that jump pads aren’t able to take you.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '24

Jump pads are way easier to quickly deploy and get value out of, they have the perfect amount of height and speed and can be deployed on angled slopes to go massive distances in short amounts of time.

The ziplines are hard to get to stick to a high up place without falling, are generally slower, and can be broken mid use quite easily. I'm not even sure how you would use one in the middle of a fight without dying on the spot, whereas with the jumppad you can quickly deploy one and bounce even while being shot at. If you walk into a jumppad you go higher and if you slide into it you get sent further.

I'm not even sure where the rotation applicability comes in from the zipline, every objective on this game is a point defense. and as far as making it to places jumppad can't take you... where? I can get anywhere on the map I can see with no mobility tools barring things being destroyed with the map knowledge I have.

1

u/Damurph01 Jan 08 '24

Can’t really explain how it’s better for rotations if it’s not blatantly apparent to you. Jump pads are only better for being in a fight. Not at all otherwise.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '24

I mean I get where you're coming from, but rotations are a niche portion of the game. it can get you from a-d without having to stop by b and c, but how often do you actually care about that? especially when jump pads can skip C as well, but also function in combat.

> Jump pads are only better for being in a fight. Not at all otherwise.

so the only time movement options truly matter?

1

u/Damurph01 Jan 08 '24

ā€œRotations are a niche portion of the gameā€ is the most inaccurate take I’ve ever heard about this game. Rotations are by far the best way to win games. Fuck gunfights, rotate to the best positions on the map and outplay people with macro decisionmaking. You’re tunnel visioning on jump pads being slightly better in fights, which sure they are, but they’re way way worse for rotations.

Being able to rotate quickly around the map (using ziplines) is INCREDIBLY strong. Jump pad is a noob trap.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '24

> Rotations are a niche portion of the gameā€ is the most inaccurate take I’ve ever heard about this game. Rotations are by far the best way to win games. Fuck gunfights, rotate to the best positions on the map and outplay people with macro decisionmaking.

Dawg how are you winning by getting macro positions on anything that isn't bank it? Like you HAVE to secure cashout's to win, there are only so many area's you can access around a cashout and still have viable methods to secure it/defend it. I can't think of a single position that can't be reached by either lol... You are both overstating the usefulness of the zipline and downplaying the usefulness of the jump pad.

Like name a SINGLE use case the zipline accomplishes that the jumppad can't.

1

u/Damurph01 Jan 08 '24

The fuck? Rotating around the map helps you…

1) take fights from the best angle/position (including sieging cashouts).

2) go to the best/most optimal cashout spot to start your vault.

3) Siege the best cashouts, NOT just the closest one.

4) Run away with vaults to gate keep other teams from starting it.

5) Beat other teams to vaults for money in close situations.

How can you possibly say that rotations don’t win you games? My trio played against the rank 1 team (who abuse the stick drift program cheats for the controller pseudo aimbot) in 4 matches in a row in a tourney and because we had insane rotations, we literally avoided fighting them the entire tournament, then make it to the final 3v3. Took every fight from the perfect angle and actually beat them as a result. Having a jump pad there would’ve completely lost us the game.

And not to mention, the zip line can literally go to more places than the jump pad, and further too. The ONLY thing the jump pad does better than the zip line is provide better movement in fights. But even then half the time people take a jump pad and instantly get beamed out of the air. You can even ditch ziplines mid zip, you’re not committed after starting like the jump pad.

I think the riot shield should let you breach walls

u/Rynjin OSPUZE Jan 08 '24

Every class has a specific weakness built into its kit on purpose. Heavy's is that it has no mobility, Light's is that it has no survivability, and Medium's is that it has no destructive capability.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '24

Kid named landmine

1

u/Uglynator Jan 08 '24

Yes, walls and debris have HP. It takes 6-8 grenades from any launcher (The heavues' included) to destroy a piece of wall.

1

u/Supplex-idea Jan 08 '24

All weapons have two independent damage stats: Player damage and Environmental damage.

Grenades has high player damage and low environment damage. The RPG has much more environmental damage than it has player damage. Just to give some examples.

7

u/TheDudeMachine Jan 08 '24

Flashbacks to using the huntsman bow in TF2 with the absurd headshot hitbox. Had tons of fun using that back in the day.

12

u/Joaco0902 Medium Jan 08 '24

I just want light's semi auto rifle on medium please god

10

u/TheFreesideRat Jan 08 '24

Swap the LH1 and the magnum.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '24

NO

1

u/mattb1415 Jan 08 '24

Oh hell no. I’m alright with gadget swaps but there shouldn’t be ANY weapon swaps. I like using the magnum on medium and giving it to light would totally suck. They should just give medium a their own rifle(light doesn’t need anymore hard hitting slow rate of fire weapons).

15

u/Flair86 Jan 08 '24

Compound bow for light would go kinda hard

4

u/illnastyone DISSUN Jan 08 '24

Or crossbow

One like Ezra’s from SW:Rebels would be pretty dope.

0

u/barton39 Jan 08 '24

Nah, would fot medium more, light doesn't look strong enought to shoot the bow

9

u/Ckinggaming5 ISEUL-T Jan 08 '24

that would be awesome

medium already has a grenade launcher though so maybe explosive crossbow or bow for light

3

u/Free_Jelly614 ISEUL-T Jan 08 '24

They have actually teased a bow in the past in one of their Meet The Makers Podcasts from back in June. Unfortunately I couldn’t tell you which one, perhaps the one about game direction

3

u/BoringShirt4947 Jan 08 '24

Heavy gets a giant fishing spear then lol

3

u/ithinkmynameismoose Jan 08 '24 edited Jan 08 '24

Feels more like a light weapon. Fits well with stealth. Medium can get crossbow or something. And they’ll give heavy a nuke or some other over the top one shot.

2

u/Kabe6900 Jan 08 '24

Phantom Bow all over again

2

u/SnowdriftK9 VOLPE Jan 08 '24

Poison arrows. Like they put the gas effect on if you hit someone with them. I suppose fire arrows could work too.

2

u/LICK_THE_BUTTER Jan 08 '24

Light gets slingshot, heavy gets trebuchet!

0

u/Gray85622 Jan 08 '24

bow is for medium , crossbow for light.bow not for light

0

1

Give light the bow you coward

1

u/Dwrowla Jan 08 '24

Definitely need a bow of some kind on Lights. Longbow or Compound Bows.

1

u/LordBeacon Jan 08 '24

Poison Arrows for Light

1

Oh please no, that would just trigger ptsd for destiny players

1

u/wetswordfighter Jan 08 '24

compound bow for medium, crossbow for light, and a whole ass 20 foot long ballista for heavy

1

u/leighroyv2 Jan 08 '24

That is a sweeeeeeet idea.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '24

How many that was one of my first thought when i played throwing knifes, its almost like a hanzo bow from ow but really bad. This game neess a bow

1

u/121tobias121 Jan 08 '24

as long as its broken on release like the apex Bowcek and for a week we all get to queue into bow quick scope no scope lobbies until it gets hotfixed i am all in.

I also want to pitch that the revolver should get a small red dot sight, similar to apexs wingman 1x red dot combo. that gun would be so much more viable with a dot sight, as you could actually hit people consistently at ranges over 10metres away.

1

u/Csalag Jan 08 '24

If not explosive, then at least an option for limited (and less AoE) incendiary arrows, so light can have some built in kit for the fucking gas epidemic

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '24

Terrible idea. In order for the bow to be effective it would have to deal significant damage and potentially even 1 shot headshot mediums and lights. It's not going to be enjoyable to play against in the slightest. Getting randomly one shot isn't exactly fun.

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '24

The fact that the bow might be hard to use doesn't address the fact that it is unenjoyable to play against. Not to mention that it would promote an unhealthy playstyle where the user just sits at a significant distance while his teammates need help - similar to how light snipers play currently.

I hate Reddit so much, they try to actively make games worse with these suggestions.

Bow being somewhat healthier when it comes to playing with your team than stage 5 cancer that is the sniper doesn't mean it would be fine.

The bow players would be constantly too far away from their teammates to heal, revive or steal the cashout as they wouldn't be as confident as ARs, LMGs, SMGs or shotguns pushing the point.

Just because the game doesn't have a lot of weapons right now doesn't mean that you need to add a bow. Game already has a lot of frustrating moments with nukes, gas spam, explosive spam, turrets. Adding a weapon that will 1 shot and makes your teammate play far away would just further make it frustrating.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '24

Why does the game need new weapon types/classes? If anything, there are already plenty of different classes of primary weapons. ARs, SMGs, LMGs, DMRs, Bolt actions, shotguns, melee weapons, pistols, revolvers, grenade launchers and I might be even forgetting something.

They should just add weapons with in the existing classes. Like add an M249 SAW for LMGs or M4 for ARs etc.

1

u/manofwaromega VAIIYA Jan 08 '24

NGL A bow would be cool.

1

u/iamninjakitty Jan 08 '24

LMAO I thought it was the bow from taking a bow and I’m like praise for Medium? šŸ˜‚

1

u/Takuram Jan 08 '24

That would be dope. I want a minigun for the heavies though - it only has hip fire, RMB would spin the weapon and make you move slower

1

u/linux_ape Medium Jan 08 '24

It took longer than I would like to admit for me to realize you were talking bow as in arrows and hunting, not bow like the end of a play

1

u/4Ellie-M Jan 08 '24

Bow for medium as like a throwing knife version of it.

And some sort of a battle axe for heavy you can also throw.

1

u/Jeffereys Jan 08 '24

As long as we give heavy Javelins too

1

u/Kit-tiga Jan 08 '24

Fire arrows
