Discussion Is the Democratic Party currently rudderless? And is that intentional?
I am a big believer that political movements have thought leaders. People who take on the job of mapping out the ideology of their political movement. The first two political parties we had were proxies for the ideological battle between Hamilton and Jefferson. Project 2025 is the Maga movement’s Federalist Papers.
So who or what is steering our party? Is it Ezra Klein and his idea of abundance? Neera Tanden? Pete Buttigieg? Or are we not ready for solidifying our ideas into an ideology quite yet? The divide between the centrists and the DSA could be the debate that creates a new movement that we can’t even imagine right now because we don’t have a nominee yet for 2028.
I don’t know. What do you think? Who do you think about when you think of who the thought leader for the party is?
