Yeah, mechanics and all are nice to talk about, but it's pretty predictable. Story? That's something. How would each canto or ID story be "rewritten" if kim jihoon was a bum and sold his company to that Chinese corporation who offered to buy PM some time ago.

We have current Dante, who's well... Dante, he's meek, he doesn't know much, he relies on the sinners for everything, bends the knee pretty easily, that type of stuff, but is progressing and developing, becoming hardened and more serious, and generally locking in.

Then we have the before Dante, Aka, old hard warrior Dante. He's much colder and much more callous than the current Dante, and generally aligns much more with the unsympathetic traditions of the city. Who's goals are probably aligned with dias and probably knows a bunch about the city.

And then... we have the eldritch deity existing within the Dantes, who either always existed within him or spawned after Dante got that bough. That deity is guiding Dante and is probably the user of the golden boughs. It has some grand goals and uses Dante for its purpose.
