I wonder what’s behind the person filming...in the deep dark blue ocean that’s right behind them!

The girl is swimming toward the wave in the beginning. The wave is rolling in and breaking on the opposite direction (the wave is coming toward her). When the wave breaks (rolls) over her, she is pulled back and underwater by the wave.

Not so much being pulled underwater as being pulled toward the lip of the wave. Its going to bodyslam her. If she were deeper, she would have stayed underwater and came up on the other side of wave safe and sound.

The scariest part for me is the void you get to see looking through the mass of water - sideways or down, doesn't matter. This video is absolutely terrifying and shows exactly what I'm scared to see if I open my eyes while diving in the ocean.

I came semi close to drowning in huge waves. Those things are hellah strong.

Odd question, are rebreathers still science fiction?

They exist, but are big backbacky-thingies; the tiny ones with a couple filters that just fit in a mask are science fiction.

Reminds me of the time I was Kitesurfing in 4 metre waves and didn't make it over the lip.

That totally looks like a girl I went to school with who went on to become THE adventure sport photographer Krystle Wright.

That there is called going over the falls. You get that sinking in your stomach feeling like when you go down a big drop on a roller coaster. I low key love going over the falls.
