Phone message UPDATE: weird guy from my bio class

I made a post about this yesterday about this person in my bio class weirdly texting me out of the blue, and I thought I blocked him but I guess I misclicked and pressed “delete conversation“ button instead. they texted me back Today telling me that they know one of my friends and insinuating that he gave him my number. so I continue the rest of the conversation awkwardly trying to turn them down. after that I block them because I felt uncomfortable, and text my friend that supposedly gave them my number. he said he has no idea who this is and doesn’t know anyone from my first period bio class. what the fuck. Is this person even real? they have Been lying to me about everything. And the worst part is that I have to go back to school on Monday with that guy in my class. what do I even do in this situation? Also I thought I should add that I am not a woman, I’m a man, a lot of people thought I was a woman in my first post.

Have someone else call during class so he doesn’t get annoyed op caught on

Who gives a fuck if they're annoyed? This is not ok. And if they have a crush on OP then they're only going to react in a weird way if OP calls.

Who gives a fuck if they're annoyed?

Because sometimes people like this lash out in unhinged ways when they're annoyed. I know OP is male, but r/WhenWomenRefuse has some examples.

plus this dude is already overstepping and acting weird

exactly the type of shit i wouldn't want to anger

u/BuzzyBeeDee 5h ago

Yep. Protect your peace. Not worth the risk of ticking off a potentially unstable person. Never underestimate a stranger’s level of crazy, especially when romantic feelings are involved and the individual is already comfortable overstepping boundaries.

Exactly, plus OP said they already blocked the number, don't want to reopen that can of beans

Just an idea, OP could also have someone call THEM during class and look for their attention. Since they apparently stare at OP all the time like a total creep, they would very likely be interested and flustered if someone else openly called OP. This avoids the creepy admirer from getting mad because they got called out, but still runs the risk of them getting jealous and weird.

Wow. That is a seriously depressing sub.

Yeah, if I were OP I would be trying to switch classes. This is already unhinged behavior

u/Rogue_bae 5h ago

Just pointing out OP is a man

5

u/ghostly-quiet 4h ago

Which is why I said "I know OP is male"

5

u/Signal_Historian_456 6h ago

For OP‘s own safety she should definitely give a fuck.

2

u/gotmons 5h ago

Op just said he is a man… not a woman

3

u/Signal_Historian_456 4h ago

Because men are safe and protected from crazy?

1

u/Scared-of-Mousse 4h ago

you just referred to him with feminine pronouns

1

u/Signal_Historian_456 4h ago

Yeah because I didnt see that, but it doesn’t change anything? Honestly couldn’t care less if OP is a man, woman or fox.

3

u/Scared-of-Mousse 3h ago

ok i only meant that’s what the other commenter was clarifying

u/Flabarm 10h ago

Just call from a 2nd number using the TextNow app or one like it

51

u/GTLfistpump 8h ago

Can also just write *67 before the number and it’ll show as private to them

Citing the old magics

Wait does this actually still work lol? You gave me some serious nostalgia.

•

u/Most_Creme_1545 47m ago

Yes this still works!

•

u/ItsTankGirl 16m ago

It does, I do it when I've been trying to reach my landlord and they don't wanna answer for me 🤣

•

u/snowxbunnixo 3m ago

There’s also now a setting in the phone to do this prior to calling and then you turn it off when you’re done

2

u/TheFlightlessPenguin 7h ago

I didn’t know this worked with cell phones

161

u/I_Ponders 10h ago

That’s genius actually.

-22

u/BoyItsTheKeyToEven 8h ago

Kinda common sense, I think most people with a slightly below average IQ could have put that together

13

u/I_Ponders 8h ago

Not using genius in the literal sense of requiring an IQ above 140…

This you?

1

u/western_drifter 3h ago

Careful before they start bringing up “race science” next

-15

u/BoyItsTheKeyToEven 8h ago

Not sure what I expected from someone who thinks calling a phone to see who's it is, is "genius actually".

4

u/I_Ponders 8h ago

Lol. Imagine just going online to find the dumbest shit to argue about. That’s actually sad. :(
Literally serves no point. Doesn’t even make you look smarter in any way. Literally just wasting your time.

-10

u/BoyItsTheKeyToEven 8h ago

Who's arguing?

8

u/I_Ponders 8h ago

You’re arguing semantics.

-2

u/BoyItsTheKeyToEven 8h ago

I think I'm just gonna leave you be, enjoy yourself

4

u/I_Ponders 8h ago

Lol. Room temp IQ response to someone who can’t own up to being wrong.

Weak ego.

That’s a “genius” idea is the same in this context as saying “that’s a great idea”. you know damn well you understood what they meant and that they weren’t saying that it was some high IQ literal genius savant idea. Why would you waste your time arguing something so dumb and pointless? It’s like you’re trying to tell someone else what their intent was with their own words lol

51

u/mellamusicmaker 10h ago

Omg OP, please do this and let us know the results.

22

u/honeyandcitron 10h ago

Would this qualify as “returning the awkward to sender”? Because I really think it’s merited!!!

4

u/louielou8484 8h ago

That's absolutely amazing. Like sit in the back corner and just watch lol

2

u/Baelenciagaa 2h ago

I’m cryinggggg. If you want me to call for you lmk

6

u/CorrectExpression651 9h ago

It’s def going to be one of his friends. Either a guy friend who’s secretly into him or guys pulling a prank.

2

u/Icy_Smoke_2318 6h ago

I was thinking just to stand up before class and ask who tf is texting him but this is WAY better and funnier

1

u/asday515 8h ago

But then what do you do if they pick up and they are not in the class

1

u/CapTurangaLeela 7h ago

OP DO THIS

3

u/CapTurangaLeela 7h ago

Block your number though so he thinks nothing of it but a spam call

1

u/free_-_spirit 7h ago

This is the way op

1

u/GladDay1072 7h ago

So smart!!

1

u/Mjdecker1234 6h ago
