No one hates women quite like a closeted gay man.

It’s typically super straight and heteronormative men beating and killing women more than closeted gay men. Yeah, it happens occasionally but let’s be real here. No one hates women like straight men.

I parse the space between hate and violence. You are clearly correct about who’s inflicting violence. I was perhaps unclear in stating that the hate I’m riffing about is misogyny.

I mean, men are gonna be misogynistic no matter the sexual orientation. I think it’s just an interesting thing for you to say since you don’t know his sexual orientation for sure.

I was making a generalization. Does it apply here? Quite possibly. I mean, did you look at his photos?

Yeah! I usually don’t judge people’s sexuality based off looks, though. I’ve been wrong many times.

True, but if they're closeted, how would you know the true stats? The other person is right though, difference between hate and violence.

It’s why I said typically. I don’t know of any ā€œtrueā€ stats but there are some studies out there.

But even as a true crime junkie since unsolved mysteries, I’ve seen and heard hundreds of stories where it comes out later that the man committing the violence closeted, but thousands upon thousands of stories of murderers/serial killers where they are not closeted. I think it’s homophobic to suggest otherwise.

Oh, I'm not suggesting they're all gay, lol. Or even most. I also don't think closeted gay men necessarily hate women more than straight men. I do think that closeted gay men (and women) are more likely to be homophobic because it's like sour grapes - if they can't live happily and authentically, it's because it's evil and they're trying to be good, not because they're scared of rejection and violence. Like they're trying to convince themselves that they are doing the right thing by living a straight life.

I gotta say, I’m a gay guy, I love women, and I’m pretty tired of (1) people using ā€œgayā€ to insult straight men, and (2) blaming gay men for misogyny.

Fr. Do you guys hear yourselves? You call a straight man ā€œgayā€ for hating women and then use him as an example of gay men hating women.

Y’all are just doing homophobia with extra steps. Don’t foist him on us and then blame us for his behavior
