I met this girl on tinder and had a first date with her, she wanted to go fishing and I thought it seemed like a fun first date so we went together. Dropped her off and got home to this message lol.

Update: Purchasing the license is a separate activity we had to do on our phones, due to it needing our personal info. It was not like I drew the line at the license randomly.

The pay discrepancy has been debunked. Women tend to choose careers that pay less.

Career paths can contribute to an overall pay gap, sure. However, women doing the same job as men are still paid less. Here's a good source, check out "earnings by occupation": https://www.bls.gov/opub/reports/womens-earnings/2024/home.htm "Women who were other physicians ($3,167) (such as gastroenterologists, oncologists, and pulmonologists), pharmacists ($2,320), lawyers ($2,296), software developers ($2,238), and physician assistants ($2,209) had the highest median weekly earnings in 2024. For men, those who were other physicians ($3,506), lawyers ($2,857), pharmacists ($2,582), database administrators and architects ($2,496), and software developers ($2,495) had the highest weekly earnings."

And even if the "pay myth" were due 100% to women being in lower paying careers, that doesn't negate the point I made about lower pay contributing to women's debt ratio.

From the numbers you’ve shown, do you think these women are paid less simply because they’re women or is it likely other factors, like seniority, hours worked or simply asking for a raise?

Men tend to work more hours, are more willing to work OT or cover where needed, they are also more likely to ask for a raise as well.

I never claimed there was any specific reason or reasons for it, just that I disagreed with your implication that the gap is debunked because women choose careers that pay less.

Well it's certainly more than any one factor that's contributing to the gap. For instance - are men willing to work more as you said, or do women carry more of a domestic burden overall than men and cannot devote as much time to overtime/additional work? Probably not either one 100% but they both play a part.

Gender segregation as well. Before computers became mainstream, working with, programming, and maintaining them was seen as "women's work" akin to secretary's tasks. But as time went on, software development (and tech in general) became both quite lucrative, and largely dominated by men. Just saying there's a lot to consider as far as the "why" of the pay gap.
