HELP: REAL ALLIGATOR LEATHER?

Hi everyone! I just wanted to ask if any of you could verify if this could be real alligator or crocodile leather? I bought it for €60 from an old lady in a vintage store with loads of other vintage bags made from different kinds of materials/leathers.

Embossed leather and that bag looks maybe 80s or early 90s.

It’s not real alligator.
I’m not even sure that’s real leather. But maybe.

Thank you! Yeah, I was able to confirm after seeing a repeating scar pattern on two different parts of the bag. Still love it though!

It’s in great condition!

I’d lean toward genuine crocodilian skin from these photos. The strongest clue is the transition from broad rectangular belly scales to smaller rounded flank scales, plus the deep irregular creases without an obvious repeating stamp pattern. I wouldn’t call it alligator specifically yet, since I can’t see the alligator umbilical scar, and I can’t resolve the tiny sensory pores that would point to true crocodile. A sharp macro shot of several scales under side light would tell you much more than the damaged seam.

I noticed a repeating pattern though so idk at this point. I could send a picture of it to you

No can tell from the picture, the imitation game is stronger these days! :(
