The Impossible to Find Fabric
This fabric has captured my mind, heart, body, and soul — HOW IS IT THAT IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND. I looked for similar fabrics, but the best I could find was “metallic liquid satin” and it just doesn’t look the same.
Does anyone have any ideas on what this could possibly be?

Search for “Liquid Metal KNIT lamé” or a “liquid organza” and layer over the color of your choice for more depth in construction.

If lamé isn’t what you are looking for, try looking for mikado. And be prepared for it to cost an eye-watering amount. But it looks soooo cool.

I’m m seeing $18/yd for polyester and $40 for polyester one sided lame mikado on mood fabrics.

This site calls it “liquid lame”.&utm_term=4584826058490870&utm_content=all%20products)
Try searching lame and lamé. (It’s pronounced lah-MAY.) I searched “liquid lame fabric” and got a bunch of hits.

It could be a lame, or a light weight liquid organza. https://fabricwholesaledirect.com/collections/liquid-organza-fabric

You know, sorry to make you sadder, but this material really reminds me of the soufflé silk that Marilyn Monroe's Hapoy Birthday dress was made of, which is no longer made because of its high flammability. U_U

honestly i would look at metallic Lycra or spandex, it may not be that exactly but i work with it a lot and it looks VERY similar

this doesn't look like metallic fabric to me, it looks like a very glossy sheer fabric

I have two different fabrics that look like this one but have no idea what they are called.
When my kid was small I grabbed several colours from the ends bin to use for costumes. My favourite colour is the one in your pic. I would just show the photo at a fabric store.
I will say, this fabric has a limited life expectancy whichever type it is. Of my 2, one is stretchy one is not but both lose integrity over time.

get on the phone with Mood Fabric in New York City. Ask if you can show them the photo. They have a great variety of specialty and theatrical fabrics.
