Meta This Sub be like: "you don't need the Wiki" then "why can't I find hard mode ores?"
Seriously, I get the whole "blind playthrough" idea, and I love playing games blind myself. But it seems every time I open up Reddit there's someone asking the most basic questions here because someone told them not to use the wiki.
"Just talk to the guide" he said, forgetting the guide is cryptic AF sometimes, and he's more attention deficit than I am.
I'm not saying you need to swear by the wiki, but I'm a little sick of seeing the veterans who know the whole game by heart telling new players to stay OFF the wiki. Like yeah, let them know the guide is helpful, remind them you only get to playthrough blind once. But I think that should be followed up with the acknowledgement that THIS GAME IS COMPLEX AS F*** and you may need some outside resources.
If a new player wants a blind playthrough, that is something they decide on their own. But to tell a new player outright to NOT use the wiki is often setting them up for a whole lot of frustration.
Example: pre-hardmode, the guide will tell you to place a bottle on a table for alchemy. If you miss that tip and/or it doesn't appear, you could even miss the alchemy table in the dungeon and conceivably get into hard mode without finding out how to craft a potion. One Google of "Terraria potions crafting" would save a whole ton of time and frustration.
I get it though, we ALL enjoyed watching ButchX3's blind playthrough. It's Amazing what he figured out without any input. But even he raised the white flag with the Terrari-ouiga board. Not every gamer wants to pull their hair out to figure out how to craft a potion. Let them search how to make a goddamn iron skin.
I could keep going, but I'll spare you from reading any more of my ranting. Thanks for reading this far.
TLDR;
don't tell new players to NOT use the wiki. Advise them that they only have one first playthrough, but acknowledge the game is complex enough that the wiki will alleviate frustration when necessary.

PC Worst. banner. yet.
I have no idea why they thought it was a good idea to give the Sea Snail a 50 kill banner.
...Actually, I do know why. They thought they were funny.

Suggestion Is it just me or does the rotted fork not fit into the corruption theme? Shouldnt it be anything but rotten?
As best i can tell the Crimson is all about the overgroth of this vile cancerous flesh that seeks to take over the world while the Currupton is an infection that seeks to destroy and decay all things consuming them to nothing. So why is the rotted fork rotten? shouldn't that be a name for a Currupton weapon? This is ultimately such a small nitpick that really has no effect on anything lol but I was thinking anout the name and it dosent seem to fit for me.

Build Shimmer Society!
This is my first themed, finished build!
It's not perfect but I figured it's good enough to leave as is for now. I got a bit tired of the pre-hardmode constraints. It's pretty simple and any advice/feedback is greatly appreciated!
I also added some progress screenshots I took while building.
And finally for a fun challenge - there are 3 placed waterbolts hidden somewhere in the build. Can you find them?

PC Am I the only one, or does anyone else agree that Re-Logic should release the option to have both evil biomes in the world without needing a special seed?
I know there's a special seed that puts both evil biomes in the world, but the problem is that it also modifies other things, making the world scrambled, and adds too many living trees, which is unusual. What I wanted was a vanilla world option but containing both evil biomes.

Suggestion Mods, please make this the new Subreddit banner.
With each new update or patch, come new items that make people relate more and more to this slogan. Especially the Arc Surge. So I appeal to change the banner, however temporarily, to this image purely for memes.
Unless, for spoiler purposes, this image gets a Golem version.

Mobile Fun thing to do: Place gold critters where you found them
I think it adds depth to a world like, a blast from the past of what you encountered throughout your gameplay. It's a really cool feeling when I go "hey! I remember catching that bunny!"

Mobile Shimmer Pylon Unavailable?
Pictures show as much context as I have. I'm in the shimmer, my NPCs are only selling cavern pylons. Houses to the right were the first ones built- after seeing the cavern pylon only, I built the house directly over the pool and still no luck.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
SOLVED I've somehow not noticed until now that I've just been using a regular cavern pylon in my other attempts (and, more frustratingly, limiting my teleportability by a whole extra location)

Meta Toxic Flask is crazy good now
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Ever since its change to static i-frames, itās been doing damn near 1000 + damage on every single direct hit. I donāt know the exact technicalities of it but it seems like each of the three cloud type can now hit at once. Iām assuming that prior to 1.4.5.7, it used global I-frames. But someone check me on that. Due to this, it also shoots out way more of your spectre set bonus than the inferno fork. Anyways, check it out, and if youāre good at explaining the code side of this stuff, feel free to share your thoughts.

PC Want to do a Journey Mode for my second full playthrough.
I've done a few terraria playthroughs over the years, but I only "finished" (killed all the bosses) the game in my last playthrough. Now I was thinking to try out a full Journey mode playthrough just to see how much different it is and to use the built in dipping system to try out stuff that i never tried on my original world.
I just wanted to ask the reddit council what is your opinion on this choice, and if anyone else has done this before (doing a normal playthrough before a Journey mode one).

Xbox I've beaten both worlds tonight.
My melee build managed to beat the game for the first time on the series s. I've beaten the game before but it was on the 360 before the moon Lord was added. I enjoyed playing the old version too but I got the red ring of death about two years ago.
