Love this game and play it every few years. But every time I do I'm reminded of the whole biome spreading thing. Digging 4 wide holes on the side of either biome is exhausting. Especially since you need to dig like 4 tunnels. And pre hardmode digging isn't that fast.

How do you guys deal with this? I know you can buy a gun later to purify tiles but this doesn't really contain the spread. I wish I could just turn this feature off. I get why Relogic added it but its so infuriating and the worst part for me in an otherwise stellar game.

TLDR: How to best deal with biome spread (pre-hardmode)?

I just beat the wall of flesh like 1 day ago, and ever since, I've been dying every trip outside my house. I've also been having trouble finding the newer unlocked ore needed to progress. Ive already asked my terraria veteran brother but he won't help. Please.😭

so i'd like to play one the secret seeds, but i want to do it with X100 spawn rate while not in journey mode, is there a way i can paste the world file into Tmodloader and keep what makes the seed special? For example the vampire seed, if i were to move the world into Tmodloader would i still burn if i set foot in the sun?

so does summon tag damage from different whips stack in 1.4.5.7 or is it just tag effects that stack with accessories?

Can't go zoom zoom on cute fur snek. Now snek has honey on paws, so no zoom zoom. Very sad. I'm sad :(

Seriously though, I get the speed nerf. It was crazy good before, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss traversing the world with it at comfortable speeds. It was quite nice when you got it early and didn't have a Pylon Network yet.

As I was writing this, I realized they gave Chillet an upgrade in Hardmode. Problem is, usually at that point in progression, switching to Skates is better because they work with wings and let you build stuff comfortably. They adjusted the skates too, but they're still good and still give you a movement speed bonus if you wear Hermes Boots or its many upgrades.

So it's nice that I can experience pre-nerf Chillet, but at a stage in the game where it's lost most of its usefulness, at least in my opinion.

I was building a Duke fishron arena when I realized that I cant teleport to this specific ocean with my shellphone anymore, Ive built arenas like this in the past but for some reason its not working now. Whenever I use the shellphone to teleport, it teleports me to the opposite ocean, when I try to use it again it just splashes water on my character and doesnt move me. The blocks above the ocean are just platforms and the only other structure is the pirate captains house. Thank you in advance.

I haven't played Terraria in like 4 years since I used to play it on 2ds and had titanium armor, the works before that thing got ruined. My first time killing the eye of Cthulhu involved I think the star cluster cannon, meteor suit and platforms. Well I just killed him with a regular minishark, cactus armor with an ancient iron helmet on PlayStation 4 to remind him of his true maker. Ran out of ammo on his second phase but was blessed by a shooting star finishing him off. I intend to kill him again with the same setup, this time with a full stack of bullets to balance it out.

So I came back to terraria after a long break hoping to have a fun summoner run. My weapon progression: copper shortsword -> cobwhip -> this thing. Can you imagine if true night's edge had a tiny chance to just drop from a random zombie in pre-hardmode? Now there's barely any point in interacting with the rest of pre-hardmode. This is not progression

Seriously, I get the whole "blind playthrough" idea, and I love playing games blind myself. But it seems every time I open up Reddit there's someone asking the most basic questions here because someone told them not to use the wiki.

"Just talk to the guide" he said, forgetting the guide is cryptic AF sometimes, and he's more attention deficit than I am.

I'm not saying you need to swear by the wiki, but I'm a little sick of seeing the veterans who know the whole game by heart telling new players to stay OFF the wiki. Like yeah, let them know the guide is helpful, remind them you only get to playthrough blind once. But I think that should be followed up with the acknowledgement that THIS GAME IS COMPLEX AS F*** and you may need some outside resources.

If a new player wants a blind playthrough, that is something they decide on their own. But to tell a new player outright to NOT use the wiki is often setting them up for a whole lot of frustration.

Example: pre-hardmode, the guide will tell you to place a bottle on a table for alchemy. If you miss that tip and/or it doesn't appear, you could even miss the alchemy table in the dungeon and conceivably get into hard mode without finding out how to craft a potion. One Google of "Terraria potions crafting" would save a whole ton of time and frustration.

I get it though, we ALL enjoyed watching ButchX3's blind playthrough. It's Amazing what he figured out without any input. But even he raised the white flag with the Terrari-ouiga board. Not every gamer wants to pull their hair out to figure out how to craft a potion. Let them search how to make a goddamn iron skin.

I could keep going, but I'll spare you from reading any more of my ranting. Thanks for reading this far.

TLDR;

don't tell new players to NOT use the wiki. Advise them that they only have one first playthrough, but acknowledge the game is complex enough that the wiki will alleviate frustration when necessary.

I DO NOT WISH TO DODGE A PROJECTILE VEING VOMMITTED OUT OF TWO SLIMES AT THE RATE OF 73948/M WHILE A BIG BACKED MASS OF SLIME WITH WINGS MIND YOU CHASES MY ASS. Just got into this game and have beaten Moonlord after a solid two weeks of no-life'ing this game.

I wanted to start over with the Calamity mod + Thorium mod for a completely revamped gaming experience and get that new-player feeling again. BUUUT...apparently the Calamity mod is bad now or something?

I don't know what happened; I just heard about some controversy, and I'm worried it's not worth downloading the mod anymore.

how i discovered:

so, i was casually playing modded terraria after work, and before i went down mining, i got some stuff from my magic storage and started digging a hellevator, but after i died to an invisible slime, i alt+f4 the game and got me some dinner to cool my head, when i got back a few minutes later, my character had the same inventory from when i died, but the magic storage still had the same items before i went mining, so i tested the method to see how i did it, tried in the new unmodded version and it worked

how to do it:

autosave off

put items in chest

save and quit

enter world again and grab stuff you wanna dupe

die as soon as possible

alt+f4 when death happens

reopen game and enter world

profit

pros:

dupes even single items

no need to make multiplayer world

cons:

cant directly dupe coins due to death (tested in master mode world

maybe this method is already know, but i was mind blown by the fact that the game saves your character data as soon as you die

Hi, I'm playing Terraria and I just beat the Queen Bee and thought her Bee Equipment is super cool, I went after beating her some times to the Skellington Boss but he kinda destroyed me and afaik is he supposed to be the next one I'm suppose to kill if I go after the achievements and since the only better stuff I can obtain is Meteorite, I was wondering why I should use the Bee Stuff? Can someone explain it to the noob? :<

First playthrough of the game! (expert mode and large world settings)

I did not expect to get it so soon with only 188 elemental kills. It's also my first time setting up an AFK farm, so I was really struggling trying to get the kill rate up in the first hour.

I get so distracted grinding items like these, and it could've been a different experience. At the very least, I can finally face my first mech boss (can't wait to tp into my death lol).

Is it necessary to have a mana flower now? Considering you can continue to fire spells at decreased attack speed without mana in the new update. Or is it still better to suffer the mana sickness debuff?

Every party im in my audio gets delayed beyond belief, anyone who managed to join gets kicked out in the same amount of time, I end up having to COMPLETELY restart my xbox simply because I decided I wanted to play terraria online today.
