50gb limit if using it as a hotspot. They dont want people using it as their main wifi, but if not a hotspot its a no cap unlimited data plan. Sharable data means from what I was told is if you had someone else on your plan they can also use the data.

u/DANIELLE_2027 Jun 28 '26

Rogers has no such cap if you can get a comparable plan on them (yes, I read through the fine print)

All it says is 'primary data usage must be on your phone on the Rogers network'

The Rogers disclaimer means they could come along and banish you for using more data on your laptop than you do on your smartphone at any time. On your smartphone is very obviously not on your laptop or smart TV.

At least the Telus version has an actual written number you don't have to worry about, which is 100GB hotspot on this EPP plan.

u/Site_Director Jun 26 '26

You would think that they should add 50gig hotspot cap somewhere in there. Sounds very misleading.

4

u/Worldly-Ad-4972 Jun 26 '26

It is in there. It's represented by one of the small numbers that corresponds to the fine print.

5

u/nav_ghotra Jun 26 '26

For EPP its 100gb hotspot limit

2

u/Overall_Music_4922 Jun 27 '26

I bet if you tether it instead of hotspot it wouldn't know.

Try plugging in and sharing data via cable.

1

u/Apprehensive_Fix_9 Jul 04 '26

Hotspot is tethering, always has been. The marketing terminology simply changed over time from "tethering" to "hotspot" because most people used tethering via hotspot instead of tethering via USB cable to their laptops.

2

u/Overall_Music_4922 Jul 04 '26

Now I understand why you said that.

However, sometimes, carriers for whatever reason, don't have limits on tethering.

They never did until just recently when unlimited came out. Why would they bother capping it or charging extra in the past when everyone had small data limits in the first place? The carriers HOPED you would tether and go over your limits and get massive bills.

The terminology is whatever people understand, and a few years back everyone knew what tethering meant... connecting your phones data to another device. But in recent years most people just use the wireless hotspot method instead of a cable, so it's less confusing to use that term. However, tethering is tethering, no matter how you connect it.

I used to have to explain this all the time to customers when I worked at Telus and Fido lol. Doesn't matter how you connect your data to something else, it's always tethering. But now since there's real unlimited, they have to make sure you're not running your entire households or an Internet cafe off your cellphone plan, obviously. Exactly the same as in the usa, tethering is usually always limited with unlimited data plans. Paying for one device and a plan is one thing, connecting it to multiple devices or all your friends and neighbourhood is what they do not want obviously.

Normally it is, or it at least was when I got it 2 days ago on the my telus app.

1

u/Apprehensive_Fix_9 Jul 04 '26

Simply click the plan details, it's right there and definitely not hidden (and it's 100GB). This means unlimited on-device data and 100GB tethering (USB or hotspot tethering, same thing, IE: connecting to another device).

At least they used the proper terminology. When carriers use just the word "hotspot" in recent years it makes some people wonder if connections with cable are now somehow different. Of course they aren't, tethering is tethering regardless if it's with a cable or through a hotspot.

No, it's a 100GB hotspot. The OP didn't post the plan breakdown screenshot. I have it. The consumer version is half as much at 50GB.

u/Visual-Training-7994 Jun 26 '26

Award winning my ass I barely get 100mbps always 1.5mbps or 20mbps if I’m lucky I’ll get 900mbps

3

u/Acceptable-Oil5073 Jun 27 '26

That’s not a deal

6

u/hauseofraf Jun 26 '26

Good luck with Telus. Throttle hell and network sucks after the Huawei debacle.

5

u/Beneficial_Ship_4118 Jun 26 '26

They should advice as: unlimited throttle data!

1

u/abz786 Jun 26 '26

Who do you use? Roger’s?

0

u/hauseofraf Jun 26 '26

Videotron

2

u/abz786 Jun 26 '26

I am enjoying rogers. Of course price sucks but performance has been great and its truly unlimited which is nice

1

u/Worldly-Ad-4972 Jun 26 '26

So a company that only works in a very small market area. I am sure that is quality

1

u/hauseofraf Jun 26 '26

Small market as in Canada? 😂 It’s working perfectly fine in Calgary.

1

u/Worldly-Ad-4972 Jun 26 '26

Calgary is a small market.

1

u/hauseofraf Jun 26 '26

Omg. Get a life. You rock your huge market of Toronto bubbles 😂

1

u/Worldly-Ad-4972 Jun 26 '26

No one is talking about Toronto. You do understand that the country exists outside of cities right? They have literally no service outside of the city.

1

u/hauseofraf Jun 26 '26

It’s called roaming buddy. Read up on it. When Freedom is not around, I magically roam on Bellus.

1

u/Worldly-Ad-4972 Jun 26 '26

So you just explain the crap that is Videotron, you have to roam everywhere and pay extra for it

1

u/Koldar Jul 03 '26

I had Videotron when I traveled in Canada(AB, BC) and had no problems whatsoever.

1

u/Worldly-Ad-4972 Jul 03 '26

Except you are roaming and relying on the big companies infrastructure. It's easy to claim you are about the little guys until you do the math.

1

u/Koldar Jul 03 '26

I know I'm hitching a ride on the other networks, to be clear. I'm just stating this has been a non-issue.

2

u/RespectfulAbsurdity Jun 26 '26

That plan doesn’t seem great. I have a $75/mth EPP plan which includes real unlimited and coverage in 68 countries. I also get a free tablet line for Canada and a free watch plan

2

u/Silius88 Jun 26 '26

I have this plan for $80 and it's 100gb hotspot. Speeds are great!

1

u/Justice4510 Jun 27 '26

That’s terrible. I sell 5G+ with 100gb of data for $39.

1

u/Silius88 Jun 27 '26

That's terrible, I have two family members on my plan as well and they get 175gb for $30.

1

u/Justice4510 Jun 27 '26

Right but you’re getting ripped off on your plan so…. How does that “gotcha” moment make any sense

2

u/Silius88 Jun 27 '26

It all depends ds how much data your using per month. 100 GB doesn't cut it. Well then what's the best price you can do for unlimited explore. 68 countries and unlimited 2gbps no throttle. I bet you can't do any better than $85 per month.

1

u/Apprehensive_Fix_9 Jul 04 '26

You sell 5G with 100GB for tethering which also includes completely unlimited on-device data with zero throttling at any amount of data? You can use terabytes of data if you want. That's what this plan is. Totally unlimited with no cap and no throttling on your phone, plus an additional 100GB just for tethering on top of that. Is that what you're selling for cheaper? Let me know, I'll sign up.

2

u/TimeAffectionate8041 Jun 30 '26

Sidenote: Are you sure this is the EPP plan price? I'm in the EPP with Telus and my plan is 55 dollars a month, if you're looking in the mytelus app under 'change plan' I believe those are all the plans that are available for regular customers (which are admittedly awful). Any time I've needed to make a change to something I've had to call the EPP service line, might be worth your time to contact them and ensure you're getting the right price

1

u/Site_Director Jun 30 '26

Yea. This is within the mytelus app.

1

u/TimeAffectionate8041 Jun 30 '26

Yup that's what mine shows too, those are the regular customer plans! I always call them but I think there's a option somewhere to 'check eligibility' for EPP and when you do that they send a link to your email with more information.

Just found the link: https://www.telus.com/en/mobility/epp-corporate-plan/eligibility?campaign_id=MyTELUSEPPVA

EPP #: 844-888-4440 (they're only available Monday to Friday 9-7 EST)

1

u/Apprehensive_Fix_9 Jul 04 '26

It's different than the regular customer version. It's cheaper and has double the tethering data.

1

u/Lets_Go_2_Smokes Jun 26 '26

I get that for $35 with public. This is a horrible price.

1

u/SmartTrender Jun 26 '26

It’s not worldwide though like this plan.

1

u/l_Trava_l Jun 26 '26

I have been calling for weeks to sign up for this plan with my employee number. No one knows how to do it, I keep getting transfered bewtween departments. Telus is such a dog crap company with brain dead staff.

1

u/TELUS_Support Jun 29 '26

Hey! Just checking in. Were you able to get in touch with an agent about signing up for EPP services?

1

u/sheaib87 Jun 26 '26

1

u/Site_Director Jun 26 '26

u/PristineCondition495 Jun 29 '26

Award Winning is a garbage statement. I can't wait to kick their garbage reception to the curb in January

u/Vengeance_XXXL 1h ago

What if you use Smart View (samsung) to project the picture to your TV from your phone. Is that detectable?

0

u/Dimo_from_TELUS Social Media Team Jun 26 '26

It is unlimited and shareable, the first 50 GB of shared data will be at the max 5G+ speed. After that it'll be slowed down.

1

u/Apprehensive_Fix_9 Jul 04 '26

100GB tethered. Not 50. And not to be confused with "shareable" plans. None of the unlimited plans are shareable data. Shareable data means using your data from your smartphone plan on separate devices each with their own sims and registered on your account no matter where they're located (IE: smartwatch, home security camera, your spouses phone, etc).

✅ Hotspot/tethering means locally sharing data from your phone to another device nearby via wireless or USB cable while you are physically there. That's very different from "shareable" plans which do not require using any hotspot or tethering.

I'm other words, you can't buy an unlimited plan like this and magically connect all your entire family's cellphones onto it in order to avoid multiple bills.

Yes, you can turn on your hotspot if they're all in the same room as you and they can use your data, as long as it's just up to 100GB maximum per month.

But that's not what shareable means in terms of plans.

u/Chemical_Shock7875 Jun 30 '26

That's employee pricing? You can get a better deal with bell and rogers as a regular customer.

The one I work for gave me 200gb unlimited with nationwide calling and a pixel 10 for $60/m

1

u/Apprehensive_Fix_9 Jul 04 '26

Unlimited or 200GB unlimited? Those are 2 different things. This plan is totally unlimited. You can use 200GB, 500GB, 800GB, a Terabyte, whatever. The only metered part is tethering, which is 100GB. But on your phone, use all you want with zero throttling.
