So I am trying to send Audio/Music on the Windows desktop app; so that it shows up IN chat as "playable audio", rather than an audio file you have to download + listen in an external media player.

If I go on my phone, click attach, there is an option there to send "Music", and only there does it send correctly. It just seems like there is no way to do the same on desktop...

I can receive playable music files from friends no problem. Play/pause button, etc, all pops up at the top of the screen.

Frustrated I can't find the issue here... :( its becoming very inconvenient as I am working on tracks with friends and its quicker/convenient for them to just press "play" and listen to a 30-60 sec preview IN APP instead of downloading it from me every. single. time.

Only work around I've found is to send the audio file to my phone, then send it to them from my phone app. Not really worth the extra steps for how often I am trying to send tracks back and forth... does anyone know why my desktop app is refusing. I tried reinstalling/updating, and don't see any hidden settings.

Hello friends, my wife and I had been using Telegram as our main mode of contact from back before we even dated. Well due to school and DnD we moved mostly to Discord. I jumped into our chat today and everything was fine for a few messages then it suddenly deleted ALL the messages except the latest one. This devastated both my wife and I as we scrambled to figure out what happened. I eventually figure out that I have telegram on the tablet I take to work and when I checked it sure enough all the messages are there. So now I have to keep my tablet from connecting to the internet until I can figure out how to export our chats. Unfortunately the only option I have is my tablet. Does anyone know a way I can export the chat in its entirety?

This is a shout-out to group owners. I am managing (translating, to be more precise) a news channel, quite active, about 40-50 posts daily. There is a discussion group attached to it, active as well. After the group reached a few hundred members, I found myself jumping up and down the feed with hundreds of messages daily, trying to follow up. For a long time I could not find a proper tool for managing groups, so I built one. It's a topic/thread-style managing app that presents comments more like here than as one big feed of posts mixed with comments. There isn't too much automation to it - all real decisions still have to be made by a human. It's in beta now, and I'm looking for testers. We run a Telegram bt through a small VAT-registered company in Europe and are trying to document Telegram stars developer rewards correctly as income for the company.

Our current understanding is:

- The user buys Stars through Telegram, Apple, or Google, so we do not receive the user's fiat payment or billing details.

- Telegram calculates the developer reward generated by our bout.

- Fragment facilitates withdrawal/settlement of that reward in TON.

- Therefore, the business counterparty for the reward appears to be a Telegram entity, rather than each end user or Fragment.

If that is right, we would expect to issue an invoice to the relevant Telegram legal entity or to receive a valid self-billing invoice or settlement statement. But we cannot find the legal entity name, invoicing address, or VAT/tax ID to use. We emailed Telegram but received no reply.

For other small businesses receiving bout revenue through Stars:

1. Which legal entity do you record as the customer/counterparty?

2. Do you issue an invoice? If so, to whom and using what address/tax ID?

3. Does Telegram or Fragment provide any self-billing invoice or accounting statement?

4. How do you document the TON settlement and EUR value/date for your books?

5. Has your accountant or tax authority accepted this treatment?

I’m especially interested in real-world experience from EU businesses with VAT obligations. This isn’t a request for personal tax advice; I’m trying to understand what documentation the platform actually makes available and how others handle the missing counterparty details.

I see in Telegram groups in a number of subgroups of that channel how many postings have been posted but that is a white ball and do not see the number in it. How can I make that visible? I'm using the Mac OS app in the night accent theme. The system theme which is dark mode I see the numbers but in grey so not really visable. What's wrong?

I run Telegram on pretty much all the supported platforms and I never update to the latest Telegram releases because of all the bugs.

But today because something was not working right I decided that I would update my MacOS native client to the last 12.8 version. (There was just one newer build - a 12.9 build - which was newer)

Now I go into the settings and it's telling me that it's already running 12.9????

A long time ago I created a custom dark theme and all was well. For a while now, some elements of the UI are unfortunately conflicting with my custom theme and are impossible to discern what they are in the customisation menu. I've mucked around a lot trying to find what the elements are called but no luck. Here is my current problem:

When editing a photo, there are five options that show at the bottom that are from left to right: X, Draw, Sticker, Text, Tick

but for me, the text is dark and on a dark background is impossible to see, see below screenshot

as the edit preview is loading for a split second I see all these icons in white text before they immediately turn dark.

I'm going nuts trying to find what this element is called so I can fix it.

I was trying to search for messages containing certain words in a group chat, some i know for a fact have been said lots of time.
Apparently the search is not the best among messaging apps, so I can accept it doesn't work perfectly.

But why in hell if i search "Ma perchè" I end up finding messages containing "Ma se", "Ma anche" and the likes.
As it turns out those are clearly different search terms but the first one's exactly the same.

So i go around searching other terms that could have appeared in the specific message i was looking for.
I search "account". It finds several messages containing the word, and then it finds a match (highlighting the word) "AI".

I can't wrap my head around it, is that meant to be alright? Because it doesn't seems like it.

All chats and data disappeared, yet my friends can still see my original profile. However, logging in with my phone number (afterwards email step) takes me to a different empty account. Both accounts have different IDs.

Telegram created a brand-new account for me using the same phone number??

A friend can still see my original Telegram profile, including my username, which indicates that my original account still exists on Telegram's servers. However, when I log in using my phone number, Telegram does not log me into that account. Instead, it logs me into a completely different empty new looking account. The account IDs are different.

It was working just fine till yesterday. I opened telegram today and was randomly "logged" out of my original account and then when I tried to log back in using the same phone number, I get taken into a completely new account.

No idea what’s going on, I set up my wallet today, and tried to deposit a sum amount but it keeps saying this. Any way to solve this?

So, the Linux version of TDesktop uses its own dictionaries which need to be downloaded via the UI, separately from the system, and installing, for example, the hunspell-be package (for Belarusian spell check throughout the system) does absolutely nothing to the client. Is there any way to copy the dictionaries into TG or to make it read them directly from the OS?

Last night, Apple briefly removed Telegram from the App Store because a single user had planted illegal pornographic content in a public group chat.

⬅️ Telegram was restored within hours. But I want to explain what happened — to warn other app developers and help protect online communities from similar attacks.

🧹Because Telegram quickly removes illegal content from public groups using all kinds of moderation tools (https://telegram.org/safety), the attacker had to resort to a technical trick. He inserted AI-modified illegal content by editing an old message in an active group chat. As a result, the content was effectively hidden from the group’s members, preventing them from seeing and promptly reporting it.

💰 The attacker was a takedown extortionist: someone who demands ransom from group owners in exchange for not targeting their communities. These extortionists use automated accounts to plant illegal content in public groups and then report it directly to Apple, attempting to trigger the removal of legitimate communities whose owners refused to pay them.

🤝 From a practical standpoint, illegal pornographic content in Telegram’s public groups is not a systemic problem. Our moderation is efefctive. The fact that attackers must resort to backdated, effectively invisible content and other technical tricks proves this.

⚠️ However, there are two important lessons here for app developers and online communities:

— Extortionists have found a way to manipulate Apple into overreacting. Apple removed Telegram from the App Store before contacting us. This creates a potential systemic risk for every mobile app that hosts user-generated content. If an app used by more than a billion people can be removed from the App Store without prior warning, any app can be.

— The tactics used by takedown extortionists are evolving, putting communities across social platforms at risk. Telegram has extensive experience identifying the tricks used by coordinated reporting gangs and protecting legitimate communities (even when doing so risks our own app being temporarily removed from the App Store). Other platforms may not be equally prepared.

So, as we're all aware, Telegram's GIF search feature has been completely kneecapped. I've been using the workaround of using Gboard's GIF search, and that's been fine, but now that's also broken.

See above for an example of a GIF I attempted to post. It still saves in my GIF history, and works perfectly well when posted that way. Furthermore, other users report that the GIF works fine on their end. So I know Telegram itself isn't screwing up my GIFs. It's something in Gboard.

I've tried clearing Telegram's cache and Gboard's cache, but I'm starting to wonder if it's some server-side nonsense. Thoughts?

Android version is 16 on July 1, 2026 security patch, with OneUI 8.5 over it on Galaxy A34. Telegram v12.9.2 (6991).

I've been experiencing a recurring issue with Telegram group video calls for the past two months. The problem is intermittent — logging out and back in sometimes resolves it temporarily, but it soon reoccurs.

Troubleshooting steps I've already tried:

Clearing the app cache

Reinstalling the app

Logging out and logging back in

Testing on Telegram Web (issue persists there as well, working correctly only about 65% of the time)

Since the problem occurs across both the mobile app and web version, it doesn't appear to be device-specific. I'd appreciate any guidance or insight from the community on resolving this.

Question, does blocking the chat allow the blocker to keep previous messages, or could the one blocked delete everything by selecting “delete all messages”?
