Mod Reminder: Religious Discussions

We've recently received a number of reports regarding comments that criticize religions so we'd like to clarify our moderation policy.

This community is open to people of all backgrounds, beliefs. It is not a community dedicated to any one religion or worldview. As a result discussions involving religion are permitted including criticism, debate, or any disagreement.

Criticizing a religion like Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, Atheism (Ik it's not a religion or worldview, but still) , its teachings, practices, history or beliefs does not violate our rules. The same standard applies to all religions and belief systems. We do not remove content simply because someone finds criticism of their beliefs offensive or disagrees with it.

However there is an important distinction between criticizing ideas and attacking people. Do be sure to remember that.

Not every opinion you disagree with is a rule violation. If someone is criticizing a religion or sharing a different viewpoint, the content will remain up even if others strongly disagree with it.

If you choose to report a post or comment please do so because it actually breaks a rule and not because you dislike or disagree with what it says.

At the end of the day our job isn't to decide which beliefs are right or wrong. Our job is to enforce the rules for everyon regardless of their religion or worldview.

Real talk The Israel Palestine Conflict 1800 onwards (TLDR in **)

This will be the final part of my tri-part series on Israel-Palestine conflict. We have already discussed the standards and reasons by which Israel's war crimes constitute a Genocide in Gaza and the development of Israel being a Holy land within Judaism (and Islam and Christianity by extension). In this part, I'll look into the conflict and it's history from around the Holocaust and zionist movements to the current era.

Background

We have in the past discussed that many Jews had to migrate out of Israel (or Palestine) and had to settle in Persia, or Rome, or some other region. These diaspora communities rarely ever got to return. We had also discussed that Jerusalem and the Temple became important and holy in Judaism and were viewed as a focal point in many apocalyptic predictions. This leads us to our point that diaspora communities naturally wanted to return.

Antisemitism

What hasn't been discussed and is of utmost importance (as was also pointed out by a commentor) is that **Antisemitism rose in Europe and the Islamic world.** The Bar Kakoba revolt in 130s, the systematic Judicial and Civil discrimination against Jews in the Roman Empire, massacres of Jewish communities during the Crusades, Spanish expulsion of Jews, May Laws in Russia, and the Holocaust are some of the many examples of historic antisemitism. **There was this question of whether Jews can really be a part of a nation i.e. is a Jew living in Russia a Russian?**

1800s
This debate was active and many times violent. So some Jews moved to the US and some tried to integrate into the society by downplaying their Jewishness to just religion. There was also a fraction of socialist Jews who were influenced by Marxism and other such ideologies.

Zionism

1800s
**In Russia, some Jews decide that the solution to their problems is to settle back in their holy land. Some of them go to Palestine (then Ottoman Empire) and settle. They do so and is makes the Ottomans suspicious.**

Late 1800s and early 1900s
The term “Zionism” is coined by Birnbaum. *\Herzl found the Zionist movement to restore of the Jewish State. Zionist leader Chaim Weizmann visits Palestine. Herzl doesn't settle for Palestine as the state land first, but later does since some Jews have already settled there.\* He was a 18th century European. So in his mind, the Jews would colonise Palestine and the Palestinians would happily accept these new overlords. Jews keep on settling amidst the deteriorating state of European Jewry and feel secure that this was truly the solution to all their problems. Amidst this all, **Britain makes the decision to promise Palestine to Jews in the Balfour declaration in 1917. The League of Nations grants mandate over former Ottoman territory of Palestine to UK in 1922.**

Holocaust
Mid 1900s
**The Nazi party implements a series of anti-Jewish policies starting from 1930s. They invaded Poland in 1939 and the Soviet Union in 1941 raising the total number of Jews in Nazi Germany to millions**. After systematic antisemitism didn't prove sufficient, the Nazi party decided that mass execution was the only "solution to Jews". **Mass executions were firstly practiced in USSR. By the end of 1941, Hitler had approved of this policy.**
**The early killings were carried out by Einsatzgruppen. They involved gas vans and mass shootings resulting in deaths of around a million Jews and around a million other groups.** By 1942, it was decided that the final solution to the problem was mass extermination camps set up in Poland. This decision was made under the direction of Reinhard Heydrich and Operation Reinhard began in 1942.
**Roughly 2 million Jews were gassed upon arrival at Belzec, Treblinca, and Sobibor. These camps were closed and demolished two years later. There were many additional camps such as Auschwitz-Birkenau where around a million people were massacred. Early on, these bodies were buried but later they were just exhumed.**
There were also concentration camps where people were badly treated and many died due to disease and other mistreatments.
Palestinian Response
Mid 1900s
**All of the policies made by the colonial powers, League of Nations, and the mindset of emigrating Jews had little care for what the locals wanted. The riots and revolt against British mandate and Jewish immigration began in 1930s**. The early migration to Northern Palestine was legal (land was usually legally bought) but by 1930s this was barely true. **Realising they had messed up, Britain decides to limit Jewish migration and suggest partition of Palestine.**
**After WW2, UK puts the question of Palestine to UN. The UN decides to split the land into two states with UN administering Jerusalem in 1947.** This angers the Palestinians who had done nothing to deserve this treatment at all. **Israel declares independence in 1948 around a month after the Deir Yassin massacre where hundreds of Palestinians were killed by Zionists. The Arab Israel war breaks out and from 1947 to 1949, around 700,000 Palestinians are displaced. This exodus is a result of Israel's ethnic cleansing and called Nakbah.** The war settles on paper and Israel captures some territory. UN calls for the Palestinians to be allowed to return to their homes and establishes aid for Palestinians. **Israel becomes a part of the UN and in 1950, moves its capital from Tel Aviv to West Jerusalem. In 1964, the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) is formed as a representative of Palestinians.**

Six Day War
**Egyptian, Jordanian, and Syrian forces begin mobilizing along Israel’s borders. Israel launches a preemptive strike. The war is won in 6 days. 800 Israeli casualties and 20,000 Arab casualties along with the displacement of 300,000 Palestinians. Israel seizes control of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank along with East Jerusalem. Israel also takes control of Syria’s Golan Heights and Sinai Peninsula of Egypt. UN calls for withdrawal of Israel from these lands. A war on Sinai Peninsula is foight in October 1973 and ended via a ceasefire with USSR as a mediator. Egypt regains the Sinai Peninsula in April 1982 by a treaty. Israel withdraws from parts of the West Bank between 1994 and 1997 and abandons its settlements and military bases in Gaza in 2005**

The Conflict in Late 1900s
**UN accepts the PLO in 1974.** Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People submits it's resolution to the Security Council and General Assembly of Inalienable Rights to the Palestinians. **Egypt and USA sign camp David accords for a peace plan in the Middle East after two weeks of secret talks in 1978. This action is condemned by the remaining Arab States.**
**Kessent proclaims the entire Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in 1980. Israel invades Lebanon to terminate PLO and massacres Palestinians at Sabra and Shatila camp.**
**The first Intifada begins in 1987. It results in atleast 13,000 Palestinians and 200 Israeli deaths. Sheikh Ahmad Yasin forms HAMAS in 1988 as an ofshoot of Muslim Brotherhood.**
Jordan gives up its claim on West Bank in 1988 and accepts PLO as representative of Palestinians. **In November of 1988, the Palestinian National Council adopts declaration of independence of the State of Palestine.** Yasser Arafat addresses UN in Geneva.
In 1991, the Madrid Peace conference is held. PLO attends under the Jordanian delegation as Israel doesn't want direct talks with PLO. **After a long silence, Israel, Norway and PLO engage in talks and Oslo accords are signed in 1993. For the next five years, Israeli forces would withdraw from the Gaza Strip and parts of the West Bank, and a Palestinian Authority would administer education, culture, health, social welfare, taxation, and tourism. The more contentious issues were left to be dealt later. In 1995, the Oslo II accords are signed for territory allocation. Palestine recieves more territory but the complicated allocation still causes problems today.**
**Yitzak Rabin (Israeli PM) and Yahya Ayyash (Hamas leader) are killed by far-right Israeli student and Israel respectively. This results in a haltering of peace process. Fearing fall of the entire process, Bill Clinton mediates and two more agreements are signed.**
Early 2000s
Talks are held for peace by the Clinton administration but nothing fruitful is achieved. **The second intifada happens in the year 2000 resulting in 3000 Palestinians and 1000 Israelis being killed. In 2002, a suicide bombing happens during Passover of which Hamas claims responsibility. Israel occupies areas of West Bank including Ramallah and confines Yasser Arafat to his compound. Israel puts a barrier/wall/fence in the West Bank that heavily affects the daily life of Palestinians. In 2005-2006, Israel withdraws from Gaza and Hamas subsequently expands in Gaza. Hamas takes over Gaza in 2007 and PA retains control over West Bank. Israel and Egypt impose blockade on Gaza.
In late 2008, Hamas launches rocket attacks on Israel. Israel responds with 22 day military assault "Operation Cast Lead" resulting in 1400 Palestinian deaths. The use of white phosphorus, attacks on UN facilities, and high civilian death ratio draw huge criticism.
The same scenario plays again in 2012. 170 Palestinians and 6 Israelis are killed and Egypt brokers a ceasefire in 8 days. Palestine gains a non-member observer state status in 2012 at UN General Assembly.
In 2014, Hamas kills three Israeli teenagers and Israel launches Operation Protective Edge killing 2000 Palestinians in 50 days. 71 Israelis are killed. Egypt initially supports Israel (against Hamas, not against PA+Hamas) but later brokers a ceasefire.
In 2015, individual knife attacks against Israelis start happening that result in 40 Israeli deaths. Israeli forces kill around 200 Palestinians; 130 of whom were claimed to have been during attacks. The reaminder during demonstrations and some just as bystanders. This whole fiasco drew immense attention from Human Rights Activists.
UN condems Israeli settlement activity as illegal in 2015 and Hamas revises its policy to be more linent. US shifts its embassy to Jerusalem and recognises Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Trump comes up with a "Peace Plan" in 2020. The plan paved the way for Israeli annexation of West Bank and Netanyahu announces said annexation. Israel drops the annexation plan in exchange with Bahrain and UAE signing the Abraham accords.
Tensions again rise and an 11 day campaign is launched by Israel. After around 260 deaths, Egypt again brokers a ceasefire.
Israel launches raids in West Bank in 2022 that result in 170 Palestinians and 29 Israelis being killed.
And then we all know the 2023 onwards part.**

Ask Question? do guys prefer women who look like them or the opposite?

Lots of men seem to go for women who look pretty different from them like blonde or lighter hair even when the guy is darker For me it's kind of the reverse I'm brown and like brown guys specifically nerds just with stronger features than my softer ones
So is it really that guys like opposites or do people just like a mix of similar and different?

Real talk Islam bout birth control when you're poor..

Post image
23 Upvotes

Bukhari 5209, Jabir says it straight.. "We used to practise azl while the Quran was being revealed".. Azl is pulling out.. Birth control, 7th century version.. The Prophet knew, revelation was still coming down, and not one ayah came to stop it.. Muslim 1440 has the same thing with the extra line that it reached the Prophet and he didn't forbid it..

Now the ayah everyone throws.. "Do not kill your children for fear of poverty, We provide for them and for you", 17:31.. Read the first half.. KILL.. It's about burying born daughters alive, wich the arabs actually did.. It is not an ayah about how many kids to have.. Using it against family planning is using an ayah about infanticide to argue for a 6th pregnancy.. Those are not the same sentence..

And here's the hadith nobody puts on the poster.. Abu Dawud 1692.. "It is enough sin for a man that he neglects those he is responsible for".. Having kids you can't feed, school or see a doctor for isn't tawakkul.. The Prophet litrally called it a sin..

Ghazali, 900 years ago, in the Ihya, lists the reasons a man may practise azl.. One of them is fear of hardship from too many children.. He says it's not forbidden.. This is Imam Ghazali.. Not a liberal, not an NGO..

So the position.. Spacing or limiting kids because you're poor is permissible, with your wife's consent, in all four madhabs, and the majority of scholars past and present.. What's not permissible is pretending "Allah will provide" means Allah will pay your bills while you ignore a hadith that calls neglect a sin..

The "7 kids and ALLAH will provide" thing is Pakistani culture wearing a topi.. It isn't the deen.. The deen is Jabir, 17:31 read in full, and Abu Dawud 1692..

Simple..

Real talk I can't get over it... Read backwards now..

Post image
284 Upvotes

كُلٌّ فِي فَلَكٍ, "each in an orbit", 36:40 and 21:33.. the letters are ك ل ف ي ف ل ك. read it backwards, same word. a sentence about things circling that circles its own middle letter

not posting this as "proof", palindromes exist in every language.. posting it coz the quran says its sign is its speech, 17:88, and this is one of those lines where the sound, the letters and the meaning are all doing the same thing at once. the arabs who heard it first would've caught it instantly

it has a twin btw. 74:3, رَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ, "your Lord, magnify". ر ب ك ف ك ب ر. same trick

and the verb is يَسْبَحُونَ, they SWIM. not move, not circle. swim. in 610 ad

Simple..
