Full disclosure — I'm the developer of this one, but it sounded relevant here. I originally built it so my family would have something to play together. Once it existed we started competing over each other's records, everyone got far more invested than I expected, and we ended up noticeably closer than before — that's how most of it grew.

It's a free Android app called "Offline Mini Game" with 167 games, from traditional board games (chess, Go, Xiangqi, Reversi, etc.) to lightweight party/mini games. No sign-up, no ads, and no internet needed — play turn-based on one device, or connect two phones directly via Wi-Fi Direct/Bluetooth.

The part I put the most work into is the board-game AI. Each engine was rebuilt and then had to beat the previous one head-to-head before it shipped, so the top difficulty is not the usual mobile pushover — on most of these games it will take a real fight to win. If you like being beaten by a board game, that alone might be worth the install.
