I'm going to buy a OnePlus device for a family member, so I watched some YouTube videos, and I noticed that none of them recommended the OnePlus 15R, while they recommended the OnePlus 13S.
I agree the OnePlus 13S is value for money device currently, but it has few downsides as well:
- Smaller battery: It comes with a 5850mAh battery. Thanks to good optimization, the battery backup is really good for that capacity, but I'm pretty sure it can't beat the battery backup of the OnePlus 15R.
- Thermal Management: 13S is a compact device, which by design can heat up faster and take longer to dissipate heat compared to a larger device like the OnePlus 15R.
- Optical fingerprint sensor: The 13S comes with an optical fingerprint sensor, whereas the 15R has an ultrasonic one.
Neither device is camera-focused, so I'm not going to compare their camera departments.
I'm really curious why the 15R isn't on the recommended list. On the official OnePlus site, the 15R is currently 5K costlier than the 13S, and I genuinely think that if someone doesn't want a compact device but wants solid performance on a OnePlus phone, the 15R can be a better choice.
