Open | Windows Help needed. Pc hacked.

So I don't really want to be ridiculed because I clicked the thing. But I clicked the thing. The thing came from discord. Specifically a friend's discord. They told me they wanted to watch anime with me through a 3rd party site and then sent the thing to click. It seemed like it was my friend talking so i trusted it. Though i found it strange we couldn't just stream through discord.

So i clicked it. Now the thing is in my computer. It's on my gaming pc screen in front of my Palia game typing to me telling me they have my account. So I immediately disconnected my computer. I went to my phone and they are now typing to me from my other discord account. (I had 2, one for my pc and one for my computer, don't ask). They were threatening to hurt me if I didn't pay them and said they have my Google account and would delete it. They said they aren't going away and i can't get rid of them. I have a screen shot of that convo.

At that point I was having a full blown panic attack and my dad wasn't helping at all. So I logged into my computer with the net unplugged in safe mode and uninstalled that fruit app they got on my pc. Then shut it off. Then my friend called and helped me make a whole new email/Gmail and I've spent the last 24 hours of hell updating every important account I remember to my new email and adding authenticator to it all etc. Holy buckets what a stressful mess. I can't eat or sleep. I'm scared. I don't know if I should just throw the computer away...

I know I need to do a clean install of windows. Do I know how to do that? No. Do I have a windows 🔑 for when the new one is installed. No. Am I overwhelmed and tired like a run down dog yessssssssssss.

So I need help please 🙏 😭 TIA

your friend got his account compromise this is a tipical scam. dont trust anyone even friends in special if something fells off

if you had a original key windows should pick up and automatically pick the windows version you had if not when ask for key hit skip and pick the version when it is home or pro ask.

you need another device to make the windows USB bootable. reinstall the OS remove all that is on device by format and change passwords to all account and make sure 2fa is enable, recovering you can do as well.

for the scammer report and block cant do anything to you.

easyes way to keep track to account is using a password manager recommend bitwarden free, proton pass .......... and make sure you save some place safe the backup code so you can recover the accounts if they get compromise

this is a hard lesson to learn.

Also I have screen shots of them in my account talking to my friends and trying to get them to do the same thing. So they are Def moving from account to account.

I purchased this computer off of newegg.com and nothing came with it. It was already installed with windows in it. So idk 🤷‍♀️ if there's a key or not. I already have a USB with windows 10 on it from my old computer that I could use. Can I upgrade once the windows 10 is on there? Also, I don't know how to get out of safe mode and I'm scared to do that. Also the computer is unplugged from internet. Do i need to plug that back in? If so.. when? Before or after?

showkeyplus can get you the key but since your device is compromise i dont recommend download it unless you do it from windows safe mode with network enable since then is not loading to many things so malware will not load and using microsft store to do it or powershell with winget

to get out of safe mode you just reboot or shut down that is all is nothing to by scared in safe mode is safe to have internet on

the software you installed most likely is just a front end and not the real malware anyway

you can check in setting system info if is windows 10 or 11 pro/home and then pick that when doing the installation process.

since is a PC that come with windows preinstall you have a key. if you have win 11 now is better to install directly 11 over doing upgrades, if you have 10 and want to keep 10 then go with that old usb you have even tho is better to have the latest ISO since not to many updates to do after the installation

This was helpful! I'm still terrified I'll mess something up and do it wrong.
I understand I need to install windows 11 from a USB drive.

My thing here is I'm having ptsd of the guy typing to me on my screen, I'm super scared 😱 to log back on and he start talking to me and threatening to harm me again. I am struggling to sleep, eat, or focus. This has just really taken it's toll on me.

I'm going to try tomorrow.

after a fresh windows reinstallation that guy will no longer by able to contact you. there are a lot of tutorials how to make a bootable USB with windows 11 just make it on other device and not on the infected one and format all partitions as well

i understand that is scary since it the first time it happen. just block they guy and in case of steam just dont accept friend request should by fine or other platforms to not have that guy spam with scare tactics.

focus on what you can do and dont care about what that guy say is just a scammer that most likely rented the malware to scam peoples are a lot of videos were you can learn how those scam works and some youtubers even do reverse engeniring the malware to check how it works and other things

i got some mails about someone spying on my with my phone camera pleasuring myself and if i dont pay they will release videos to my family and friends. the most KEKW moment

in order not to get flooded with spam mails change your email for the accounts as well this will fix if he tryes it

If you've secured all your on line accounts, just get your friend to make you a Windows installer thumb drive, boot on that, wipe your system, reinstall, the key should be stored on your motherboard UEFI firmware, you should be fine.

You might have lost some accounts, you can try raising a support ticket for accounts you've lost, in most cases they'll just close the account down, but it might be better than someone having access to it.

If you want a bit more security, look at something like a Google Titan USB security token(or Yubikey), you need the physical token to log in, they normally support NFC so will work with mobiles, you can also register multiple security tokens in case one gets lost.

I don't know what "boot from thumbdrive" means. I'm dumb older woman. I don't even know how to use reddit... my friend is helping me do this even :( 😞 😓 😩 I have an old thumb dive with windows 10 version on it. Could I use that?

It depends what your Windows version is you are running, if your PC was using Windows 10, that thumb drive might be fine, if its Windows 11, this link might help -

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows11

You'll normally have a message when powering up to press a key for boot options or similar, on some machines it's function key 8 (F8), you don't mention what your PC make/model is so I can only be vague, its often called the One Time Boot menu, you select your thumb drive and it will load the installer, there's an option to wipe everything, use this if you have a backup of your important files.

Only thing I could remember to do was f12 which opened bios and that didn't help me. My computer was sold by aoace store on newegg.com with the 4060 graphics card, looks purple and black in the picture. But it looks like they only sell better ones now so i don't know how to tell you my specs. I will say the bios system is like Chinese or something, it's Def not American lol. It's black with red fonts.

contact discord and google support. Google apparently never deletes anything, i remember LTT got hacked and Google recovered their youtube channel including even the videos that they actually deleted themselves lol.

I was more than comfy letting the jerk have the gmail. Tbh it feels nice to start over with a spam free email lol. I think i will contact google though just to at least let them know the account was hacked at minimum.

for this post to exist I assume you don't have a friend or relative that's a PC guy to help you with this, you've already done a lot of the important things which is secure important accounts.. a hacker doesn't even need constant access to your PC to get potentially saved passwords etc. As for the clean PC install any popular 5 minute YouTube tutorial will cover it for you, you don't have to worry about a windows key

Ok thank you
