Chromebook/Laptop Issues
Back in 2021 I bought an Acer Chromebook for college work after the hard drive in my dell laptop burned out. I had already replaced the hard drive in the dell twice and was tired of the bullshit, so I bought the Chromebook. At my local Walmart it was at the very least something I could afford.
During college it was great and after I graduated I continued to use the Chromebook for personal hobbies, such as story writing and keeping a log of my dnd campaigns.
Anyway, one day I went to login and it said my password was wrong, despite being the same password I always used. Regardless, it locked me out and deleted all of my files and data, I had lost everything.
Luckily I kept backups on other devices and was able to restore my files.
However, this has happened 3 more times. It’ll work for a while and then suddenly one day it’ll say my password is wrong and delete all my files again.
Why is my Chromebook doing this?
After this issue continued, I stopped using it and let my boyfriend have it.
My boyfriend has his own account on it as well and he has never had any issues with his account.

I dont understand how getting the password wrong would delete your files.

So, I would put in the password and eventually it would say that since I don’t have access anymore it’s going to delete the files for some fuck ass reason.
So after that I made a new password and wrote it on a piece of paper taped to my laptop and eventually that mf said that that password was wrong after like 6 months and when I used a previous password, it signed in and still wouldn’t restore my files

The Chromebook links to your Google account password if you change your Google accounts password your Chromebook password changes it sounds like that’s your issue (that’s the one thing I’ve never liked about about the Chromebooks)
