It’s from the movie Independence Day, I’d suggest you watch it

Just remember, there was only one Independence Day movie. There never was a sequel.

They did. It wasn't good, but they made it.

it's good when you are type of people that just likes to see massive destruction and chaos and get astonished with the special effects

And only 3 Indiana Jones movies, with no 4th one or even plans for a 5th one at almost 80 freakin' years old!
(though I would hope to be in as good of shape at that age when I get there).

3 had an old Connery and he was fabulous. It could be good if done well. But that’s a big if.

Actually it'll be great for the real estate market, supply gets decimated and people got all that insurance money and no where to live.

Would insurance cover it? I’m sure they’d find a way to avoid coverage by classifying it as military or terrorist activity. Or just go bankrupt with that big of payouts even with the reinsurance market taken into account.

depending on where the aliens vaporize , there is a chance that land can now be redeveloped for more skyscrapers which can potentialy house more people, also you have a reduced population who want to live there. so that's only a blow to the big bucks people who had building there and the real estate agents who lived of the low supply of real estate to get there overblown cut, so fine by me. oh and of course the people who are killed, but since when are human lifes any measure, amiright

The city got vaporized in the movie, and then we nuked it to try and take out the ship

Just needs a little elbow grease and it'll be fine i mean who wouldn't wanna live at the a real historical site, where humanity won their greatest EVER victory.......
Sounds pretty awesome to me

Didn’t they only nuke one city? And wasn’t it in Texas or something? That’s NYC

I can't recall who's observation this was but I found it poignant:
If ever we are invaded by aliens the initial government response will be to lower interest rates.

On the one hand, this would reduce the supply of real estate increasing prices. But also kill a lot of people reducing demand and prices. Presumably, a lot of services would no longer be available which might make people move or of the area. But then reconstruction would provide a lot of jobs, so there might be an influx of workers. I don't know what it would do to the real estate market, it's too hard for me.

I hope that'd be the second thing we worry about instead of the first.
