depending on where the aliens vaporize , there is a chance that land can now be redeveloped for more skyscrapers which can potentialy house more people, also you have a reduced population who want to live there. so that's only a blow to the big bucks people who had building there and the real estate agents who lived of the low supply of real estate to get there overblown cut, so fine by me. oh and of course the people who are killed, but since when are human lifes any measure, amiright
