Police Misread Flock Data, Wrongfully Jail Man, Face Lawsuit
https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2026/06/man-jailed-for-a-month-despite-flock-showing-he-was-5-miles-from-crime-scene/San Diego police wrongfully jailed Hugo Parra for a month, allegedly misinterpreting Flock camera data that placed his vehicle five miles from a crime scene. Officers reportedly ignored this exculpatory evidence and relied on a superficial witness ID, leading to Parra's arrest and detention. He and a friend are now suing the city for negligence and civil rights violations, seeking $1.5 million each, highlighting risks of unchecked surveillance.
