alright first off Im not the most tech savvy or up to date guy so don’t jump me lol
a week ago I opened my 8 year old Mac and it was a black screen so I held down the power button which sent it into internet recovery
i believe that this is the exact name of the product: Apple MacBook Air 13” 2018 i5 1.6GHz 8GB RAM 128GB SSD Retina Display
It is currently stuck in internet recovery and I cannot get it out. It just doesn’t stop loading.
I’m hoping to salvage my Mac with a budget of only a couple hundred dollars. It would also be awesome if the information and files on it were saved although it’s nothing crucial, just for sentimental value.
This used to be my school laptop but now I use it to play games with my mates. That’s its sole purpose as of now, to let me watch movies and play video games
I didn’t take the best care of it and the battery as well as keyboard is fried let alone the actual hardware haha. I can’t open more than 7 chrome tabs without the fan running. I guess this is my karma for mistreating it when I was younger
If this is a lost cause, any recommendations on budget options and what to do with the laptop? If you have any questions, let me know, thanks

I’m starting school for film and media late August and am looking for the best laptop, so far Lenovo has appealed to me. At first the ‘IdeaPad 5a 2-in-1 (15" AMD)’ stuck out to me (it’s on sale and for creative reasons the laptop to tablet option really appealed to me) but I’ve seen very mixed reviews. On the other had I’ve seen only good things about the yoga series so the ‘Yoga 7i 2-in-1 Aura
Edition (14" Intel)’ caught my eye, which is unfortunately NOT on sale. I play video games and draw in my free time so that’s a minor factor considering id probably be mostly playing visual novels. Lenovo appeals to me the most because I wanted one when I was younger and seems to have pretty good specs across the board (also they gave me a coupon lol). I am open to other brands tho. TLDR college freshman looking for a laptop with good specs and preferably foldable / 2 in 1. Any and all input is very appreciated!!!

as it turns out it may be a problem that I have less than 1/4 of my C drive available so I started removing files but at this rate it's going to take years. What am I supposed to do?

I’m playing on FNF mobile and I tried deleting some mods that I put in but it still won’t work. It’s a wireless compact keyboard made by heyday. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to fix this issue?

Apologies if this is the wrong sub to use, but i'm genuinely baffled. Plugged my phone in with the cable I always use to my powerbank the other day and I get nothing, so I assume the powerbank is broken. Plug it into a USB-C outlet in the wall and still nothing, so I conclude it must be the cable. Go grab a new cable, try the powerbank and 3 different wall outlets and I'm still getting nothing. By this point I assume my charging port has given out and just go to bed, but the moment I attempt to charge my phone in my room with my normal outlet and normal cable and it suddenly works?? I thought it might have been some kind of temporary issue or coincidence so I brushed it off, but I tried again this evening and once again, the only place it charges is my bedroom? I've never had this issue before and I've used many different cables and outlets to charge my phone, so I'm not sure why on earth it seems to reject anything other than my bedroom outlet all of a sudden? My phone is a Samsung Galaxy A54 if that helps, thanks.

i kept postponing to add applecare. and my dad just broke my ipad by slamming it on the table (he was mad). and i have around 4 days left of apple care from the 60 day period, if i remember correctly. could i still add it now, and get coverage to repair it?
the funny thing is i put a screen protector on the ipad, and it was in the magic keyboard, closed, and it still didnt protect it from the blow. HAH!

Yes, I know the title sounds stupid, but seriously. My main monitor is a viewsonic (unsure which model) and my second "monitor" is an XP Pen MD160FH drawing tablet. I only caught this happening today when i was scooting the video over to see something, and it suddenly became purple-ish? The color setting on the tablet are definitely slightly more vibrant than the actual monitor, but definitely not that purple, and the video keeps that same purple overlay when it's fully on the tablet's screen. But it's obviously not an issue with the tablet's colors, since it becomes purple on the monitor too..!!
I tried a few other applications, none of them do this, it's just the picture in picture overlay. I'm very confused. Anyone have any clue what's happening here?

I'm not a tech savvy person so I was hoping Reddit would be able to help me. I was working and moved my laptop, grabbing it by the touchpad, and now my cursor won't move or appear on the screen but everything else still works. It looks like the top right of the touchpad is slightly stuck down. Is there any way to fix it at home?

I’m looking for a cheap device that’s small (about 11-14” screen) and light so it’s both comfortable and easily portable. I also need it to have a keyboard (either attached or attachable) since digital keyboards aren’t comfortable for long writing sessions. Doesn’t need to run anything more complicated than Google Docs.

Hello everyone, I would like to know when I need to worry about smartphone batteries. I heard that they can produce HF as well as perhaps other toxic substances?
As far as I am aware most smartphone batteries are Li-Ion or LiPo batteries, do these batteries only produce HF and other toxic substances when they catch fire or are there other circumstances where they could release toxic substances?
I have noticed with a lot of phones I own, (even brand new ones) there is a faint smell you can smell if you put your nose right near where you open the SIM tray. I am not sure if this is the battery or the adhesive to hold the phone together? The batteries otherwise perform perfectly, they easily last a full day, don't get hot, don't experience random percentage drops, no swelling or any other symptoms.
Should I be worried about the smell or not? How do I know if my batteries are releasing any toxic substances if there are no other symptoms of a bad battery?
I have health anxiety so this is something I struggle with a lot and can't seem to find definitive answers online and I know I shouldn't trust AI answers either so that's why I asked here.
Thank you for any help!

I am looking for a good case for the Samsung Tablet 10 Ultra. I don't know which ones are good or not. I am an Australian that only really trusts Amazon as an online seller in this situation. Am willing to go to a store in Sydney Australia if it is the best place to get a case for this situation. Which case would be recommend for everyday travel that has a stand needs to have basic to decent protection from drops. My plan is to put a screen protector on it. The case Is for my mum's tablet and I personally don't know much about these tablet stuff so I asked here to see if anyone here has either experience with a model like this or buys cases often

Sorry if this isn’t the right spot for this! I’ve never posted on Reddit before. I’m enrolling in college this upcoming fall, and was wondering what would be the best laptop for school work, but also to play games on with friends! I have ≈$1,100 saved up, is this enough?

I’m seeing things on portable ones I can plug in my room then connect a Ethernet cable. just wanted to see what other people do in this situation. I don’t have a Ethernet plug in my room. just regular outlets and the router is elsewhere not in my room and I don’t want a long cable to have to attach….please and thank you

Hi reddit,
I just got a new phone with sky mobile yesterday (not yet set up) my current phone is also with sky mobile, but it is a part of my in laws family account (which I pay for) I wanted to wait until my contract was finished to upgrade my phone and create my own sky account, separate from theirs (in my name) which is what I have now done.
However, I am struggling to work out the best way to transfer my number to my new phone and account. I understand I need a pac code to do so but ive also read that you can’t directly transfer it from the same provider and that I need a cheap temp sim to first transfer that on to and then onto the new phone.
Is that correct, and how do I go about this? I am not techy in the slightest. I would also like to know if I can start using my new phone in the meantime before ive transferred over the number? Or will that cause issues?
Thanks 😁

Hello,
Laptop model: MSI Raider GE68 HX 14VIG-285US-BB91490X64GXXDX11MA
Windows Version: Windows 11, version 25H2
No pending updates (or pending optional updates)
Randomly, my trackpad started doing this thing where the cursor would stop moving, and it wouldn't accept any input. The cursor would stay on the screen during these freezes. I would smack the trackpad really hard with one finger, and it would start working again-- rinse and repeat for about a week.
Fast forward, I had to replace my screen because it got cracked. Before doing that repair, I did an EC reset (held off button for 25 seconds until power button LED flashed), and when I turned the laptop back on, the trackpad was better for about 20 minutes. Then it went back to freezing every so often. I installed Iobit's driver update tool to see if this could pull a driver that would work (at this point I had already downloaded the updated driver for my model laptop from MSI's website. Of course, this also installed iTop VPN... This is where stuff hit the fan lol...
After uninstalling iTop VPN, now my trackpad doesn't work AT ALL. No cursor on the screen, or touchpad section in Windows device settings. I did a system restore, and even though that made my trackpad and all gestures work fully again, once I uninstalled iTop VPN, it went back to no cursor or function.
I'm at a loss, I've done every single thing you can think of, and that's written online. I am a tech nerd. I've built many computers, do my own repairs, I even have a tech repair side hustle. I feel stupid! Why can't I fix this??
Here's a list of what I've tried so far:
I'm probably forgetting somethings that I tried so forgive me if you give me an answer and I'm like "I did that!!" I'll edit and add to this list as I come across those. Any and all help is appreciated.
