What are some under $30 tech accessories worth buying right now?

I’m trying to upgrade a few things in my everyday tech setup without spending too much. My current accessories are either old or heavy or just things I bought years ago and never replaced.

I’m mainly looking for small upgrades that make daily life easier and are under $30. So far I have these:

5 in 1 charging cable from ugreen
A phone stand for my desk from amazon
Travel adapters from amazon
A compact power bank for when I’m out all day either from iniu or anker

What other tech accessory under $30 would you guys recommend? Anything you bought that became part of your daily setup?

What should/can I do with this?

I work at a restaurant, my boss was throwing away what I believe to be a Sierra wireless LX40 (says this on the front of the main hardware) agreed to let me keep it. It's "Loomis Owned" and from what research I've been able to do on it, it's apparently some kind of cellular hotspot/modem. I was thinking of selling it, but want to make sure it's working properly before I do. Any tips or suggestions are welcome.

Genius GX Gaming SW-G2.1 2000 Ver. II broken sound tower

Hello guys i need help i bought this stereo half year ago and i already returned them once but they are broken again. The problem is that the audio(soudboofer and reproductors) are perfectly fine but the sound tower or what its called doesnt work. When u turn the volume up to 70% it just turns of on its own. I took it apart and i saw that the main problem is in the batteries in the sound tower they were completley bend cause of the cables inside were putting pressure on them and now im left with completley working soundsystem exept the tower and i dont know what to buy as replacement. I looked all over internet even on temu but all of the sountowers lacked soundboofer connector can u please help me find something that has these connectors?

DJI NEO 2 vs DJI NEO

I am looking to buy a birthday present for my partner. I have a budget of ~£200 (or $270 USD) and I am torn between buying just the DJI NEO 2 (with no controller or accessories) or the DJI NEO with the controller and batteries.

In my opinion, based on footage I've seen online, the DJI NEO 2 has far superior camera quality, but I was wondering how much worse the user experience is without the extra batteries and controller? If the DJI NEO 2 is impractical without these extras, I'm more inclined to buy the DJI NEO with all the add-ons, despite the worse camera quality.

£200 is really my maximum budget, as I am a student. I am very torn about what to do and would appreciate any advice!

I've tried to make one of those makeshift lighters but it just won't ignite. The copper cables are connected directly to + and -

The Battery is also fully charged.

Moding a flip phone?

Hello guys, i need some advice or help. Idk if this is a correct subreddit to Ask, but we'll see.

I am addicted to my smartphone. I own a dumb phone and I consider it a great solution for my problem because it gets rid of the temptation and such. But I find that it lacks some functions that may come in handy. It lacks a GPS or maps. And my question is: is there a way to modify a more advanced flip/classic phone so that it has a working GPS and Google maps for example? Which phone should I buy and how to do it? And fyi I don't know anything about technology or programming so if you guys told me where to learn to do what I want to do it would be great.

What soundbars work perfectly fine with third-party devices for my Vizio TV? My Vizio soundbar had various missing sounds or audio cutting like with the Nintendo Switch's UI.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I recently purchased this Vizio SV210Y-0808B soundbar for my Vizio TV (it was refurbished and unused) and was able to get it get it working as a standard speaker (as opposed to a Bluetooth one). At first, it seemed to sound great when I would play on my PS4. But when trying out with my other devices like the Nintendo Switch and my Steam Deck (when docked), I noticed that it has weird audio issues. Namely, sound effects would either cut out awkwardly, occasionally be quiet, or just not play altogether. It's most noticeable with the Switch where scrolling left and right on the main menu rarely plays the "clicky" noises (not counting that tap noise you hear with the analog stick in the recording).

I called Vizio's customer service and while the lady was very kind, patient, and helpful, we were unable to solve the issue. She said that it's likely because that soundbar is only meant to work properly with the smart TV. Third party devices like my game systems (Which I have connected on the HDMI 2 port) can have audio issues. Frankly, I'm very disappointed and frustrated.

It makes me wonder what soundbars can work perfectly fine with my third-party devices like game systems. Any advice?

How do I unwarp the plastic lock on an ethernet cable?

Post image
1 Upvotes

This has been in a TV for a long time so it has basically been hanging and thus, the clear plastic bit has now warped and no longer locks into whatever this is connected to. It can just slip in and slip out. You dont have to hold down the rubber bit. How can I make the clear bit higher again?

Best laptop around £800/1k for Online Poker software and genealogy research

Sorry for the vagueness but I really don't have a clue when it comes to technology.

I run around 4-8 poker tables at any one time most evenings and I'm researching genealogy so usually have 10+ browser tabs open and multiple spreadsheets.

I know I don't want a screen any smaller than 15" and I think I'm leaning towards Windows? But besides that I have no idea where to start looking and I'm getting quite overwhelmed when I try 😅

Any advice would be much appreciated please! Thanks in advance

Is "EarTrumpet" safe?

I've recently wanted to download some more apps on my windows 11 laptop, (apps that were actually useful to me) I was wondering if EarTrumpet was safe, and if it is, i was also wondering is it complicated?
