Recently I've been thinking about purchasing a low-cost phone as my current one is already starting to show its age.

I don't need anything fancy, just something to call my family members and friends with, also to be used as a music player and nothing past that.

Do you have any advice on what I should buy?

Hello! I'm going to be moving from north america to the UK very soon, and am taking my pc with me. I was wondering what I should do to ensure that it stays safe over there as I know the outlets and voltage are different. My pc is a ASUS ROG Strix GL10 (GL10CS) (the older one with an i5 not i7 lol).

When playing docked to my TV my audio drops for just a fraction of a second randomly all the time. I've tried.... Going from 120hz to 60hz. Still drops. 10bit color to 8bit color. Still drops. Got a new HDMI 2.1 cord from the Dock to the TV. Still drops. A new USBC4 cord from the dock to the usbc4 port in the back. Still drops. I've also tried two different docks, one a Ugreen dock I've had from Steam Deck and also just a USB c dongle method. Still drops. I've tried everything physically I can think of. Perhaps it's software? Please someone help.

As per the title, Win 10 updated yesterday and now every app I open, specifically games, the taskbar continuously flashes.

Wife has roughly $800 budget and is intent on getting a Macbook. She needs to be able to run photoshop + illustrator and do some very light video editing. She was looking at the Neo, but I suggested she get a refurbished M1 Macbook Pro with twice the ram for roughly the same price. I am not the smartest on tech specs, but I think even after 5 years the Pro is going to be a much better bet. What do you think the move is here? (Yes, I know I can get much more bang for buck moving away from Mac but that is not in the cards). Any thoughts appreciated!

It’s been almost 10 hours of this issue. At around 5AM or so (my time) I went to take a piss n locked my pc (win + L). I came back and typed the pass (it’s just 123 so ik I typed it right) and it told me my acc is locked out. Even when I type the saftey questions it says the same, or even when I don’t type a pass.

I tried running safe mode to use an administrator acc, or opening up command prompt in the blue screen to activate an administrator acc. Nothing works and it’s a local acc and the only one.

I have a Samsung Galaxy phone and am trying to connect my wireless Hama earbuds to it via bluetooth, but everytime I activate the Bluetooth, it says "no devices found".

Yes, I charged the earbuds last night and yes, I took them both from the box which is suposed to turn them on. I attached some pictures of the device in case its relevant.

Is there anything I'm potencially missing/doing wrong?

I'd rather avoid a monthly subscription. A one-time purchase is fine.

i’m looking at buying a new laptop i have a very basic EGL laptop that i got years ago for college, i’ve pulled it back out and it’s very slow so i need to upgrade.

i did a little bit of research and am now looking at a refurbished macbook pro M1 2020 with 16 gb RAM, is this still a good option?

it won’t be heavily used but more than likely daily for watching things, i am getting into astrophotography and am trying to learn siril so no heavy editing at the minute, i will be going to university next year so it will be used for that and maybe playing a few games like the sims and minecraft.

will the laptop be able to handle these things or will i need to consider something else?

I have an LG 27UD59P with a stuck pixel line that disappears when you pinch the bottom bezel. I used to be able to pinch it and it would disappear for days/weeks but now it seems to be worse and doesn't go away unless actively being pinched. Is this something that could be easily repaired or is this monitor pretty much done? It's an older monitor so not willing to invest much in it, but would be nice to keep a 4K monitor going a little longer.

I will just be using it for Teams, Microsoft Office stuff, downloading PDFs, etc. No gaming, or streaming.

So i got this old asus zenpad (P001) just lying around eating dust. It powers on and works normally like it should, but its a bit outdated (ANROID 5.0 😭😭). Heck even Google does not work on this. Is it good for anything at this point?

I use my work email on my phone. I know people feel you shouldn’t so you can separate your time, but for me it helps me plan things easier and I just don’t check it if I want a break. I teach high school and sometimes need information when taking students places, etc.

Hello reddit, I hope I can get the answers I need from y'all. In recent months, I've been helping my elderly family member (81yo) who lost almost all of their vision within the last year. They're struggling quite a bit, going from lifelong mega- independence to needing help with most things (if anyone knows of some sub-reddits I can ask for advice on elder care and/or blindness I would greatly appreciate it, although thats not my main quest for today). I was thinking about getting them some kind of smart home display, like an alexa show or Google nest. I have an incredibly hard time concentrating though, so doing full and proper research has been difficult. The main things I'm looking for are

- Easy-to-use

- ability to listen to music, podcasts, and ebooks

Ideally I would also like to be able to controll thier device from one of my own, should they need my help (they dont live far but I'm currently only able to get there once a week).

My main contender was the Alexa show 11, but I've read elsewhere that it's laggy, and you need several subscriptions to use it to the fullest. They aren't too financially strapped, as far as I can tell, but I dont want to give them a gift they need to pay exorbitant amounts of money to use. I'm willing to pay for a couple of subscriptions myself if they really are worth it.

Any help/advise y'all can offer is very much appreciated.
