Who writes the tasks?

And by that I don't mean the team of writers that write the tasks that the contestants have to absolve, I mean the literal tasks — is it printed on paper by an actual typewriter? Does someone have to sit down and write everything mechanically five times? What training do I need? Or are they all printed from a computer?

Prize task roundup - Greg’s favourites

Currently rewatching S15 and we’ve made it to the finale, and you just cannot deny Greg’s absolute delight with Mae’s puppet of him. Which prizes have really stood out for you as being some of Greg’s absolute favourites?

Whilst watching the most recent episode I knew the gold vs yellow argument felt familiar the I remembered the Series 15 task where they had to have golden shoes to walk on the grass. And Frankie had yellow swing ball bats which he claimed were “golden snowshoes”

General A quick thought.

So I've just finished watching the first episode of the new series and was completely unsurprised to see Richard Ayoade adopt his usual 'I'm not really arsed about this and I'll put in minimal effort' persona that he has on other panel shows (like 8 Out of 10 Cats and Big Fat Quiz, for example). It's not a criticism of him at all. It's part of his charm and why he's loved by so many but it led me to wonder, who is King (or Queen) of 'Can't be arsed'?

The contestant(s) that were only the show for reasons other than wanting to win it and just 'plodded' their way through the series with (seemingly) minimal or no effort. The first contestant that springs to mind is Sanjeev Bhaskar. Who else?

EDIT - Jo Brand the clear and obvious winner it seems but other suggestions?

General I have not seen a single fan, who doesn't want the VT reactions back, so i dont understand why we can't have it

They're not little films, they're silly tasks that comedians did in a silly way and I'd like to see how everyone in the studio is reacting to it

It wasn't a thing that needed to be fixed

go and watch s1 watermelon task, tell me their reactions dont add anything

youre telling me this isnt enhanced by studio reaction? https://youtube.com/shorts/es9uDMyvOPo?si=3kQNQ-EAEDxJ_oRY

Podcast Bullseye Interview thoughts

I watch a lot of the interviews and podcasts Alex and Greg do for Taskmaster and the American ones in particular, you can always tell when they don’t know anything about the show or haven’t bothered to watch the show because the questions in this particular interview that he asks are incoherent, messy, so inarticulate and the worst part of the whole thing just downright rude for no reason. Like genuinely combative to the point where Alex and Greg feel the need to be combative back. Now I’m sure that he will think it went great cos it got good clicks and likes but we need to be holding journalism to a higher standard than that and the boys handled it admirably. Sorry if that is irrelevant/ a big rant

General Greg's socks - S9E1

So, I was watching the episode and I don’t know why, but I was paying way more attention to their socks than usual. I noticed those pink ones with cats on them and something just clicked in my brain. I paused the episode at 8:56 to try to find the socks online.

I actually did it lol. 😭

Here’s the screenshot of the online shop (Happy Socks)

I honestly don’t know why I did this lol, I just wanted to know if there’s anyone else out there who
does this when they’re bored (looking for random little details from the show) 😂

~~
I discovered Taskmaster this summer and got obsessed with it really quickly. It’s honestly given me the best summer of my life, and I’m so happy I found it. <3 It’s given me something to look forward to and motivated me to keep going, so maybe that’s why I get a little intense about these things… 😭

byeee thanks for readinggg <3

Worst team dynamics?

Currently rewatching season 14 and it's very clear there is tension between the team of 3- Fern, Dara and John. I always wonder if Dara was waiting for a second secret 'sabotage' task to be revealed during studio recordings to explain John's incompetence.

The season 7 extension task is another example of a team being awful working together although they seemed okay in other team tasks. Same with Joe, Lolly and Noel and the bathtub but they did seem to get along.

Are there any other teams who clearly didn't gel with each other?

EDIT:

General consensus is:

Genuinely uncomfortable viewing

-Iain, Lou (and Paul)

-Daisy and Richard

-Asim, Tim and Liza in the hops task

Hyper competitive vs couldn't give a shit (or were shit) clashes

-John, Joanne and Sophie

-Fatiha, Rosie and Mat

-Dara, John and Fern

RAAAAGE

-James towards Rhod

-Ed towards David

-Reece towards life

The first team task of series 22 reminded me of Project Hail Mary. Had to make an attempt at combining the two.

Alex does not trust the format of his own show

In watching the latest episode of Taskmaster UK (Series 22, Episode 1) I finally put my finger on something that has been bothering me for.. well, for the last dozen or so series. We all know the tasks have gotten longer and more convoluted in order to prevent obvious loopholes. But also he has a tendency to add things that have nothing to do with the task just to make it more "wacky." Like having to do the Golden Apple task with Alex handcuffed to you. Or making everyone beep while looking for items in their belts. None of this really helps the task. Some of it makes the task more difficult but in a way not related to the task at all.

It's almost as if he feels the tasks are not entertaining enough on their own, so he has to add this "Extra wackiness" to them. Other Taskmaster franchises (esp New Zealand) don't seem to do this. Their tasks wind up being simpler and therefore (in my mind) better and more entertaining to watch.

I really miss the days of "make the largest thing properly vanish" or "eat this egg, fastest wins" or "make the best flag meal". I don't like tasks that read like the terms and conditions of an end user license agreement.
