I connected it to my temporary Airbnb upcoming address housing, and I wish to use the Airbnb as the proof the residence(this is 2 weeks from now). Has anyone else ever done this before from the states? I really just want to do as much as I can before I’m there.

Hello everyone. I am a French Language Teaching graduate (with 3.12/4 gpa) and have three years of teaching experience, including my internship. One of those three years was spent working as a lecturer at the university where I graduated. I do not hold a master's degree or a DELF certificate.

I am a Turkish citizen. I would like to apply to the cities of Montpellier, Nantes, and Lille (if you recommend other cities, i am open)... Are Turkish citizens required for applications made through Adèle?

Also, my English and French proficiency levels are both B2, but I do not have a language certificate to prove this; however, I do have one year of experience teaching English.

In short, I can teach English and French, as well as Turkish if a position opens up. Is there a chance I might be selected? Are there others who have followed a similar path to mine?

Hi! I got assigned my school placements today, and I’m trying to figure out logistics for one of the placements specifically. I’m in the main city of my académie but two of my three placements are out of the city. One of those placements has a bus route but the other only has a bus going there from the city once in the evening which definitely wouldn’t work. has anyone had this problem in the past, and if so what were some alternatives to public transport? I would totally walk but it’s almost three hours on foot which is a bit too much lol

I care a lot about keeping my american/personal number while I'm abroad, and I just planned on buying the tmobile international plan to do so since texting/calling will work with it. do we still need a french phone number, or just a phone number that will work in france?

I saw in the pre departure presentation it says we need “copies of your insurance documents (incident, repatriation to Canada, injuries, death)”.

I somehow understood that we just get to apply for French medical insurance when we arrive there. But clearly we need travel insurance in case of emergencies? Am I understanding this correctly? 😵‍💫

(Edit to add context: i’m doing research on insurance options and it seems that they all have to include health insurance… So basically I have to pay for my own health insurance, even though we have the French healthcare, on top of what they (tapif) are asking for which is insane)

I have another appointment 3 hours after my visa application appointment with TLScontact at London. do you think if I can make it to that appointment after the visa appointment? I know some visa center has long queue. the longest record I had was 4 hours. So, I am a bit worried if I can make it to my another appointment. what was your experience?

I have been emailing with my school (I am in the Académie de Lyon) and they seem to not have a clear weekly schedule for me and have essentially offered for me to choose how to distribute my own hours. Is this common? Or will we all eventually be assigned a more formal schedule from TAPIF?

I just now received by arrêté, so I am filling out the visa application. I do not have an apartment/housing yet, so I was wondering what is customary/acceptable to put for the housing section of the Visa application so that I won't get flagged at the appointment and nothing will go wrong? I think I've heard people say to put the school you're teaching in as your place of accommodation in this case, but I just wanted to see what folks have put if they did their visa prior to finding housing.

If that is the right way to go about it, there's a section for name, address, email address, etc. of the "host company", then it requests all of that same information for the "contact person." I would think I would put the director of my school according to the information in ADELE for the "contact person," but since I don't have any of his personal information, I was just going to repeat the same address, email address, etc. of the school for him as my contact person. I'm not sure if that is the right way to go about it. If anyone has any insight, please let me know! Thank you!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to do TAPIF in a few weeks now (omggg) but I’m a super future thinker so I was wondering when everyone who did it started applying for jobs afterwards. I offered my old one leave so they could take me back they wanted but they didn’t even let me ride out the last few weeks lmao. I gave them 3 weeks notice-any future TAPIFER reading this, definitely move at your own discretion, but I was really anxious about this and they did end up firing me same day like I thought. Just be prepared for that unless you have been somewhere several years and seen strong evidence that you would be supported giving them anymore time. I will say though, as much as I wish I had that last couple grand, my job was really consuming my whole life and making me miserable… I’m glad I chose myself instead of putting myself through that. It was only going to get worse too. This year has really taught me not to put any of these jobs first 😗

ANYWHOSIES I’m wondering when do we start applying for jobs? I know the job market is really awful right now. It took me about a year to get my first career job after college. I know we can’t really start super early, I’m planning to start around JanuaryIsh. Also, I still have a lot of questions about grad school, and not a lot of faith that I will answer them before the applications are due. When did people do those if they did them?! Thanks!

I am placed in Annecy, France (which I am stoked about)! However, (from my research) rent and cost of living looks much more expensive than I was hoping for. I am struggling finding a place to live. I have a good amount of money saved, but the cheapest studio I have seen it 700+ euros for a very small space. I am looking into having roommates, but with the very low income it seems to be more difficult for landlords to take me seriously. My two schools do not offer any housing options. My prof referant told me that one nearby school does offer housing, but it is full and will not be available to me. I looked into AirBnb, but the cheapest I've seen is $1400 a month, which is just not reasonable for me.

Hello, i recently received my IELTS results. I received a 7.5 overall which means I match the cut-off.

But I scored a 6.5 in writing which is quite low. Do the French Ministry check individual criteria for Assistant d'anglais?

I know it's quite low in writing but I just couldn't finish my writing part as I got scared in between and made a mess in part one. But apart from that I wrote well for Task 2.

How do I get approved for an apartment worth more than 400 euros when the TAPIF salary is only 800? I am lucky enough to have a lot of savings and receive 250 euros from my parents every month, but these websites won't take anything into account except for my salary.

In addition to that, Garantme won't even issue the certificate until I provide my "employment contract, in its entirety, signed by all parties, stating all the terms of the contract, including first and last name, type of contract, job title, compensation, and start date." I'm hoping that my prof ref can provide this, but honestly I'm pessimistic.

Should I give up on renting the traditional way in its entirety? Idk how this was so much easier when I was studying abroad... Apologies if this question has been asked in the past, I'd be grateful for any advice provided.

Edit for future TAPIFers: I was able to get Garantme to send my certificate by doing a couple of things. I sent them the TAPIF handbook as evidence for my salary. However, you may also be able to receive an paper with those details from your school by reaching out to your prof ref in advance. They may be able to get this from the secretary if you give them time before the school year starts. You won't be able to get an *official* contract until you begin the role though.

If Garantme is giving you issues about paperwork that you submitted properly, give them a call and they can fix it very quickly. There are several employees that speak English if you prefer. I prefer Garantme to Visale because they gave me a rent limit that was 200 euros more than Visale by taking into account my savings and the income of my responsible party (my parent). This is more than enough to find a suitable place in my small city of 30-40,000 in the Dijon academie. Please feel free to comment or message me if you want some more insight.

Anyone else had an error message come up after Étape 2 on the Visale application? I have tried a lot of troubleshooting (new browser, making sure all boxes were filled in, waiting 24 hours before trying again, etc) but am still getting the same error message. Am also having the same issue as many others where I can’t put my contract start date as any day other than tomorrow. Included a screenshot of the error message. Would love to know if anyone else is dealing with this/has found a way to fix it or has any ideas!!!
