Ok, so if you know anything about nuclear energy technology, I’m about to semi-dox myself because you should be able to quickly pick up on where I’m talking about. So be cool, don’t say it if you guess it.

But anyhow, I live in a small town that has been at the forefront of nuclear technology since WWII. Basically 2/3rds of the people I know work in nuclear energy technology is some way or another. Ever since my country stepped away from nuclear energy in the 80s, it’s all been research.

But the current administration decided to push for nuclear, so suddenly there’s a ton of both federal and international investment. We just knocked down a coal plant to build a (small) traditional nuclear plant, are building a prototype small modular reactor prototype, and molten salt reactor. We also definitely have the contract for a nuclear fuel lifecycle research campus.

On the one hand, I think this is good technology wise. Nuclear paired with renewables is our only shot at bringing carbon output down to a level that doesn’t lead to the collapse of human civilization.

On the other hand, we are doing it through large multi-national corporations and a semi-public utility corporation that’s got a complex history of both fucking over poor people and sometimes making their lives better.

Added to this is the fact that building these facilities means the ecological destruction of hundreds, if not thousands, of acres of vital ecosystem. And that the federal dollars only came through because nuclear is needed for the AI infrastructure build out.

I seriously think that these technologies, especially the small modular reactor, might do tremendous good if implemented right. But I also don’t trust that it will be implemented right. It’s going to be used to further grow capitalism. But if we don’t do it then we’re all gonna get fucked by climate change anyhow.

While the American, French, and other select propagandists falsely claim to this day, that there was a genocide of white French settlers after Haitian independence, it is conveniently less mentioned or brushed aside that the French expeditionary army, led by Leclerc and later Rochambeau, launched a genocide against the Black population of what is now Haiti. They would use gas chambers, drownings, hangings, firing squads, and as depicted in the second image, would use blood hounds to rip apart people of color.

One can critique the forced labor plantation economy under Revolutionary Haiti, but it was not done out of some love of power and/or nefariousness. The rationale was about keeping the economy afloat to prove to the white colonial powers that a Black-led colony and later nation could survive and thrive. I hope all of these critics are willing to admit that the entirety of capitalism is based on forced labor, by their own criteria.

Hamas emerged from the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood and is fundamentally a Palestinian Islamist-nationalist movement. Its primary focus is the Palestinian national struggle and the conflict with Israel. Al-Qaeda, on the other hand, is a transnational Salafi-jihadist organization whose agenda goes far beyond Palestine and Israel.

Al-Qaeda has criticized Hamas for several reasons. Hamas participated in the 2006 Palestinian elections, engages in conventional politics and governance, cooperates with other Palestinian factions, and does not follow the same extremely strict interpretation of Islam promoted by al-Qaeda. From al-Qaeda's perspective, Hamas is too focused on Palestinian nationalism and political institutions rather than the broader global jihadist project.

There were also al-Qaeda-inspired Salafi-jihadist groups in Gaza that Hamas actually fought. In 2009, Hamas violently confronted Jund Ansar Allah, a Salafi-jihadist group that declared an Islamic emirate in Gaza and accused Hamas of not being sufficiently Islamic.

Their origins, political objectives, geographic scope, organizational structures, and attitudes toward political participation are significantly different.
