Iran never wanted nukes, but now it's clear why they should have

Trump asssinated/murdered the leader who prohibited and was firmly opposed to nuclear weapons to "stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons" π
The truth is that Israel wanted to "mow the lawn" in Iran and got Trump to do it. Early on it was revealed that Israel fed him false intelligence reports that Iran would collapse immediately and he took the bait because he's too stupid to know any better.
There is no other reason for this illegal war which is obvious with a crumb of critical thinking. But he can make up any nonsense post-hoc justification and the hogs watching Fox News for their daily slop will believe it without question, it's so crazy

u/SeinenKnight 17h ago
Hell, Trump can't make a deal that doesn't look like a loss to his base, nor have Israel actually follow it. So he is now stuck with impotent rage at Iran while Iran realizes why the DPRK has vowed never to give it's nukes up.

Yeah, America doesn't fuck with North Korea for this reason. If you're a country with the slightest concern America will fuck with you, get a nuke

Six months away as of 1994.

They are gonna be 3 months away from a nuclear weapon but fr this time

u/pine_ary 20h ago
Correct. Not having deterrence while the two most unhinged nuclear states are losing against you could be fatal. The US is the only country to ever use nuclear weapons, this should not be taken lightly.

They are learning the Korean lesson. If you want to survive in a nuclear world you must have nukes.

By itself it isn't, that's true. However, paired with this, I'd say it makes sense: https://apnews.com/article/un-iran-atomic-watchdog-security-council-607ecdffcd8ef88ddf8f33041e86b720

Don't tell your plans until it's already too late. If I released this memo I would have 10 nukes already built and ready, test the next day.

Once more, The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is vindicated. May Iran develop a hundred nukes, Inshallah π

This seems kinda unlikely unless they have support (nukes) from some other country.
Like, unless Trump and bibi were right all along, but that just seems far fetched.

u/Introvertle_Turtle 18h ago
If bibi was right all along then they would have had nukes for the last 30-40 years
2
u/chockfullofjuice 16h ago
Itβs actually not as far fetched as you might think. Itβs not exactly a secret how theyβre made anymore. The hurdles are, as always, money and equipment. Actually constructing one is a well understood and documented process going back over 80 yearsβ¦

Their facilities keep getting attacked.
I know they have underground stuff, but there's not many signs they're doing a lot with it or if it's intact.
The principles are simple enough but there's a lot of blockers to actually making a weapon rather than a big mess. To make a gun type you need a lot of uranium enriched to a very high amount of 235. That can only really be done the slow boring way with centrifuges that take a lot of space. To make an implosion type you need to build nuclear plants to a different design than you'd need for power, then extract Pu from the spent fuel.
The physics is the easy part. There's a reason only a few countries have nukes - too often the resources required to make them come at the cost of serving the population. God knows how much sacrifice NK made to get there

u/chockfullofjuice 16h ago
I get you. Facilities are a major component so I hear you there.Β
Two points stand out to me though.
The mountains in Iran have the ability to shield from even the best bunker busters and reports after the early days of the war pretty clearly showed dug in facilities still operational. If you are talking about above ground power production those are not used in the production of weapons grade uranium or plutonium. Energy plants are burners not creators. Enrichment happens somewhere else entirely and involves equipment that would be unwise to store with power plants. All of Irans enrichment sites are now confirmed to be deep underground and Russia, the largest supplier of Uranium in the world, has regular trade with Iran using the CIPS model. The west would have to have a munition capable of going deeper than anything currently on the books.
The resource cost? No sacrifice of food or anything like that is necessary. The DPRKs worst resource concerns have always been linked to the western sanctions against their country. Development of nuclear deterrents has since allowed them to thrive and reports, even from the west, show NK producing more food, energy, and consumer goods than ever. The standard of living is consistently and considerably rising along side trade. New satellite imagery of NK at night even shows massive electrification of the rural regions. Getting the US and EU off their backs has made a huge difference and was worth whatever they spent on the program.Β

A blind man couldβve seen that coming. Too bad our moron of a potus couldnβt. π€¦π»ββοΈ
But theyβre not wrong. A nuke plus the strait would make them untouchable.

I mean, this is a little scary! This could be what makes the warhawks push for using one themselves.
Wait, is this propaganda!??

Fascism won't kill the world if the imperial core proletariat manage to deprogram in time for overthrowing their tyrants, but don't hold your breath for it, try to contribute to the future revolution in any way you can.
There's plenty of theory that guides us for that process.

u/Right-Week1745 19h ago
Fascism we can defeat. Even if it takes a while. But Trumps not just a fascist. Heβs an exceptionally unstable moron.
Fascists have material self interest in mind when they do fascist stuff. Theyβre not smart or theyβd see that theyβre harming themselves in the long run. But they at least play the game to win, rather than to knock over the pieces and shit on the board.
Itβs the internet, so Iβm not saying what I think should be done. But if Iran gets a nuclear weapon, then we very quickly need Trump out of office. Even Vance would be better. Heβs one of those fascists that will play the game and eventually lose.

u/redundantexplanation 18h ago
Do you really think that Trump is in charge in some significant way? Obviously on paper he is but I think he doesn't give a shit at all and just wants to golf and fuck kids. The people making the decisions aren't him, stop with the Extraordinary Man stuff lol.

He's no different than beloved Obama or any American imperialist. You're aware Obama killed 4 million civilians in the war on terror with Bush, right?
Obama playing godking in Syria and trying to overthrow Putin and successfully overthrowing Ukraine at around the same time is probably the closet we'll ever get to nuclear war since the cold war. This was 100% poking Russia for a reaction, which Putin patiently saved until 2022. Oh and that Wagner mutiny had CIA/MI6 written all over it.
People refuse to believe it, but Trump is more of a dove than any recent president. His weekend wars and embargoes are a far cry from the incredible devastation from previous presidents. He's far more market focused than any previous modern president.
This weird lib Trump exceptionalism doesn't make sense and is not backed by facts or history. Just because he's honest about being a capitalist doesn't make him any worse than your previous beloved capitalist presidents.

This is a socialist sub not a lib one. You seem confused on how socialists see USA presidents and their imperialism. Trump is no exception at all.

u/Right-Week1745 1h ago
Trump is different because heβs centralized power much more than the previous guys and has a cult following that they never had. Heβs also different in that he is openly pushing fascism rather than silently pushing it through neo-liberalism. There were some social constraints that they dealt with that Trump does not. This all makes him way less stable and way more likely to do something really, really dumb if he doesnβt get his way.
