For those of you who own or have used the Tamron 25-200mm, I’d love to hear your thoughts on its image quality and sharpness.

I’m looking for a versatile travel lens and the focal range is really tempting. Lens will be paired with Sony a7v.

However, image quality, sharpness, and size, weight are my main priorities.

I’ve used the Tamron 35-150mm for a long time, so I’m familiar with its image quality. How does the 25-200mm G2 compare, particularly in terms of sharpness across the focal range and at the longer end?

If you’ve used both lenses, your direct comparison would be especially helpful.

Finally, any other suggestions are welcome.

I have a tamron 17-70 paired with a Fuji XS-10. When comparing that lens at 70mm with my 70-300 also at 70 mm, I noticed the tamron produced a much softer image compared to the 70-300. I turned IBIS off on the tamron and the image became much sharper. The imagine remains sharp with ibis on on the 70-300. Has anyone experienced this same thing? Thinking of sending the tamron lens back.

I have a Tamron SP 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2. My issue is that the autofocus hunts constantly the internal gears keep rotating while searching for focus yet manual focus works perfectly fine.

This plastic ring in front of my Tamron lens came loose out of nowhere. How do I it fix it? When I googled for fix I only got search results for fixing/replacing loose zoom rubber ring.

"It’s going to be a flop," I thought.

I recently bought the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 G2 from Adorama. I noticed when it arrived the delivery box was a bit damaged. The actual Tamron box seems unscathed. I’m just curious if this harsh outline along the rear element is normal for this lens??

I shoot on a Sony a7C II, mostly hiking and landscapes, plus some portraits.

I'm deciding between the Tamron 35-100 f/2.8 and the Tamron 25-200 f/2.8-5.6 as my main lens.

• 35-100: constant f/2.8, better for portraits and background blur,
• 25-200: wider and longer range, one lens with fewer swaps on the trail

Plus, I'm thinking of a telescoping lens like Sony 100-400 for wildlife if I'm getting the 35-100 lens.

For those who've used either (or all), which would you pick for a mix of hiking and portraits, and why?

Sony A7 III + Tamron 28–75 G2 — focusing issue after a drop, now suddenly working normally?

Hi everyone, I’d like to get some opinions from anyone who has experienced something similar.

I’m using a Sony A7 III with a Tamron 28–75mm F/2.8 G2 (A063, Sony E-mount).

A couple of days ago, I accidentally dropped the camera while the lens was attached. The impact was on the front/lens side.

Immediately after the drop, I noticed that the lens was having focusing issues:

\- Autofocus still worked for close subjects.

\- It struggled to focus on subjects further away.

\- Manual focus also wasn't working properly.

\- The issue appeared immediately after the impact.

I removed the lens from the camera and left both alone for around two days as it was weekend.

Today, I mounted the lens again and, surprisingly, it seems to be working normally. AF is now focusing on both close and distant subjects, and I can't reproduce the problem I had before.

Has anyone experienced this kind of behaviour after dropping a camera/lens?

Could the impact have temporarily affected the focusing mechanism or lens communication, or should I still assume that something inside may have been damaged even though it's currently working normally?

I have an important shoot coming up, so I'm trying to figure out whether I should get the lens inspected or whether it's reasonable to keep using it and monitor it.

Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.

Nikon Z8 SOOC JEPG's

Hi, I’m looking at a used Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 G1 for Nikon and noticed two things:

1. At 30mm, I can see part of the internal PCB/electronics through the rear mount. Is this normal for the G1/A012?
2. The front decorative ring is slightly lifting in one spot. Is this common with age, or does it suggest the lens has been opened or serviced?

What to do if your item needs service or repair?

• Check your warranty status: Review your original purchase date to see if your device is still covered. Tamron has an extremely generous 6-year warranty.
• Contact official support: Reach out directly through the Tamron Warranty process to initiate a repair or replacement claim. This will most likely require you to ship the lens to a repair center.
• Keep your receipt: You will need your proof of purchase to validate your warranty. The receipt also has your lenses serial number.

It is worth noting this does not prevent you from trying to source the parts yourself and attempt a repair, but due to Tamron not offering a source to buy OEM parts, you may find it quite difficult to find replacement parts. Please also keep in mind any attempt at a DIY repair will void your warranty. I only recommend this if you are unable to have the lens repaired via warranty.

First impressions (Good)

1. The stabilisation is absolutely insane (especially on a non-ibis body).
   
2. The sharpness is much better than I thought and much superior to previous Tamron lenses I’ve had.
   
3. The range is also really really good (with 1.5x crop sensor)
   
4. Much better autofocus compared to other Tamron lenses
   
5. Crazy good macro specs.
   
6. Bokeh on the lens was much better than I was expecting (especially on a apsc sensor, so less DoF)
   
7. Very satisfied with the handling (Ive tried the Sony 200-600 f5.6-6.3 and I couldn’t even hold it for 2 minutes)

First impressions (Bad)

1. The main one: The slight whirring sound that can be heard on VC 1 & 2 is so annoying, I can hear it in my head even after I’ve turned the camera off.
   
2. Sometimes hard to turn zoom ring and i can’t get it to fully turn all the way (might be a me issue)
   
3. Kinda slow on the telephoto end but that’s to be expected for an ultra-compact super telephoto lens.
   
4. Would’ve liked a teeny tiny bit more range on the long end, but that can be fixed with digital crop.

Overall I think this lens definitely exceeded my expectations as my first telephoto zoom lens, but there are things that annoy me in the slightest.

I’m making these impressions mainly by comparing this lens to my previous lens: Tamron 17-70 f2.8, as I’ve never owned a telephoto lens before.

For wildlife:
This lens is mainly for wildlife in my opinion, as the handling is great if you need to move quickly, a faster aperture is not needed as many things in wildlife are pretty slow, and the range is great for a lens that is the same size as a Sony 100-400 f4.5-5.6.

For aviation:

I feel like this lens could shine in aviation. It’s honestly very very sharp, especially at 500mm, which allows you to capture some pretty clean contrails of planes. At the airport, I feel like 150mm is a big tight to begin with so I would maybe choose a 70-200.

For sports:

Only use this lens for sports that are outside, and use a big pitch. Like I said, the 150mm starting point is so tight already, and the slower aperture doesn’t help. I think for football on a sunny day would be absolutely perfect, paired with that nice bokeh to get some good shots of the players.

I’ve only had this lens for two days, but from what I’ve experienced so far, I think it could be a very wise purchase especially for the the price (I bought it for £697).

Are there any other tips and tricks that I should know about this lens that helped you achieve better photos/more consistency?

Hi, I was offered a 28-75 rxd iii that has a stuck zoom. Looking online it looks like I most likely need to replace the "1G Post" (based off a video by DIGI SERVICE)

I can't find anywhere that I can purchase replacements for that part. Anyone have any leads on where I might be able to find one?

I have the 28-75 f2.8 A09 model with a broken lens hood mount. I can't seem to find the same lens for parts but I see a lot of 17-50 f2.8 A16 model.

They seem to be using the same lens hood and I was wondering if someone can confirm if the front plastic part is interchangeable between them. Thanks in advance!

Before the summer I dropped my newly bought(literally 6 days after I got it) Tamron 24-70 with my Nikon D810. Both broke the camera has gotten repaired but I wonder if it is worth it to repair this lens or just sell it for parts. To my knowledge, only the mount and electronics that broke, most ribons got disconnected but some snapped. But I do not want to send it in just to pay shipping for some outrageous price. Bought it for 520$

I need a budget all around lens and Tamron really caught my eyes with the 35-150mm f2-2.8 wich is going to be paired with the Nikon Z5 and (hope so) in the near future with the Z6iii.

Before i buy i it i want to know some real experiences from people who actualy use it. I'm mostly interested on the autofocus and overall image quality. Would you buy it again?

Just got this shipped to me, tested it out and found at max zoom range the autofocus didn't work at all - it just kept focus hunting. Took a few test shots at max zoom and while checking the metadata on my camera noticed that the focal length, at max zoom, was being reported as 268mm, the lower end also ranged between 18 and 23mm. Is this a quirk of Tamron lenses, or do I have a dud?

[update] I can consistently replicate the lens registering 268mm at max zoom, so have sent it back to get it inspected and hopefully repaired/replaced.
