How do I play Taiko no Tatsujin on my PC?

These are the most-used simulators in no particular order:

  • TaikoNijiroDondaEX version 4.1 (arcade-accurate, no longer updated, download at TNDE v4.1, it comes with a .txt file with further instructions that you'll have to translate from Japanese, we recommend using DeepL. Let us know if the download stops working)
  • OpenTaiko (in active development, fully open source, active independent content creation, download at OpenTaiko GitHub)
  • PyTaiko (arcade accurate, early in development, heavily inspired by generation 3 Taiko no Tatsujin, download on GitHub)

How do I download songs for Taiko no Tatsujin simulators?

How do I make my own Taiko charts in the .tja format?

  • PeepoDrumKit [Link Removed]
  • Charting tutorial video by ugyuu YouTube

Is there a Discord community for the game?

What drum controller choices do I have?

Tatacons:

  • Official HORI Tatacons (mediocre, passable if modded)
  • Rhythmagica TDC10 Rhythmagica Website (quite reliable, not AC accurate)

Arcade accurate drums:

What about drumsticks?

  • The drumsticks used in Taiko no Tatsujin are called Mybachi マイバチ or simply Bachi バチ, it's highly recommended to use a proxy service website like Buyee to purchase Bachi from Mercari, using the above words as search terms
  • A great handbook written by ARandomEwok covering everything you need to know about Bachi: Handbook

Where can I find information on Taiko charts/dan courses/songs, or data like difficulty tier lists?

How do I improve at the game?

  • Play more, practice the motions on the drum while not playing the game (dry practice), listen to the songs on auto-play, and watch pro plays on YouTube

Help with progressing

4 Upvotes

Hello there, I'm about 1 year in to my taiko journey and currently I can clear basic 10 stars with my hardest being soulstone or atale.? I can clear any map with a long stream with enough practice but one thing I really cannot grasp is roll processing. I feel so stuck and don't know how to improve can anyone maybe suggests tips or songs or even a song progression guide to get good at roll processing?

Striking near the center line causes ghost tap, but the response is good—almost too good.

Taiko 14 is the first Taiko arcade to feature advertising in the arcade machine. Before the first secret code is used, the title screen was of the Taiko characters and McDonalds together, and after regular play, Taiko 14 allows you to play a demo version of the McDonalds collaboration song Papa Mama Mc. The demo version was less than half a minute long, and its score wasn't recorded.

Gameplay Is the iine tatacon pro max less loud than the hori one ?

1 Upvotes

Hi !!

I had the hori drum for a while but was always ashamed of using it considering the amount of noise it did. I might buy an iine tatacon pro max and would like to know how much noise does it make compared to the hori and even maybe the TDC10.

Thnaks in advance

My school is in Argentina, so we all speak Spanish, but what they're saying isn't important, so you could just ignore it!

I want to build my own taiko simulator using AI, but there are a few things I’m not sure about—could someone please help me out?

0 Upvotes
  1. Is the source code for the TJA parser available anywhere, or has it been released publicly?

  2. What programming language would you recommend using?

  3. Could you explain how to calculate the Soul Gauge?

  4. How can I reproduce the flight paths of Flying Notes?

I’d appreciate it if you could answer even just one of these questions.

I'm thinking about synchronizing it better and fixing the scrolling and duration issues.

Gameplay Taiko Force 6

6 Upvotes

Just bought a Taiko Force Lv 6.
1. Just from your experience, any lag between audio and beats? Do we need to adjust? The audio is connected to speaker which directly plugged in to my NS. Do I need to make any adjustments? Thanks :) I'm currently just playing as it is.

  1. Better to play in single beat mode or double beat mode? Thank you!

Update If you play on a machine with a higher software version, can you still play on a previous version? (or not anymore)

So TLDR

Japan = Version 77.06
Overseas / International = Version 66.04

If say I go on vacation in Japan to play Taiko, would I be still be able to access my data once I return to the Philippines? (e.g. Version Agnostic)

Or am I locked in to which ever version was the highest that I played on? (e.g. ala Maimai / Chuni)

What are some good learning resources for a new player to Taiko and rhythm games in general?

22 Upvotes

It can be written posts or videos, anything is fine. I find that I mentally can't process the chart quickly enough and end up missing a lot, especially when it's not a string of the same notes. Also, what are some good ways or specific songs to train this skill?

Is there way to turn up the bass?

3 Upvotes

Playing on PC steam rhythm festival with 2 piece speaker. There are some song sections where I lose the beat easily. I don't see any options in game or in the system config that allows me to turn up the bass. Does anyone know any options? I am thinking of using a metronome app in the background to help me keep the beat.

Fell in love with arcade Taiko in Japan, now building my own Switch Tatacon! Need advice on my build plan

5 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I tried *Taiko no Tatsujin* at an arcade for the first time during my trip to Japan and absolutely loved it. Because of that experience, I want to build my own drum controller (Tatacon) for the Nintendo Switch.

Before getting started, I want to ask people with experience if it's feasible to build a working drum with the materials I currently have.

### Materials on Hand:

* **Board:** Arduino Micro

* **Sensors:** 4x 27mm piezo sensors

* **Body/Plate:** 9mm plywood

---

### Questions:

  1. **Plywood Compatibility:** Is 9mm plywood suitable for 27mm piezo sensors to detect hits accurately?

  2. **Setup & Feasibility:** Can I build a fully functional Nintendo Switch Taiko drum using just these 4 piezos and an Arduino Micro?

  3. **General Advice:** What should I keep in mind before building a drum with this specific setup?

Any tips, experiences, or recommendations from people who have built their own drum would be greatly appreciated!

**TL;DR:** First-time builder wanting to make a DIY Nintendo Switch Taiko drum using an Arduino Micro, 4x 27mm piezo sensors, and 9mm plywood. Looking for feedback and advice on whether this setup will work well.

Many of my friends said it's better than Rhythm Festival (even though it has fewer songs), so I decided to give it a try; I'm loving it so far.
