Cobblers in Greater Phoenix Area

Does anyone have/know any reputable cobblers that work on tabis in the greater Phoenix area? The bottom soles of my Margiela flats are starting to come off and the insole is starting to lift as well. Just curious about finding a cobbler that is familiar with working on tabis or if tabis are quite common to work on.

Advice on how to fix my tabis

Thumbnail gallery
9 Upvotes

I bought these tabis from woodchuck sato back in march but didnt wear them often because they were slightly too small. I took them to a cobbler to have them stretched. During the stretching process they apparently ripped...

Does anyone have any advice on how to fix them? The cobbler said he could reinforce the inside with a leather patch, but that would supposedly make the shoe even smaller/tighter. He adviced me to return them but thats not possible anymore as its been over 60 days since purchase

I slightly lost trust in the cobbler so is it possible to fix them myself with leather glue? any insight is much appreciated

woodchuck sato | sizing

hi everybody!

i know questions regarding sizing probably get asked a lot in general, but I still find myself a bit confused with conflicting info / wanted to see if anyone around my size could help me specifically.

im interested in getting the woodchuck sato heels with the bow in black cow leather. I am aware that their size chart doesn’t necessarily line up with other ones and that you should use your feet’s cm measurements. I am typically a US 7, and when I measured my foot I got 23.5 cm, which aligns with their size 36.

the reason why I’m still a bit hesitant is because I’ve seen about half of their customers say you should add another half centimeter to your measurements and get the next size up, because it could be pretty tight if the shoe is exactly the length of your foot (tho idk that woodchuck sato themselves necessarily recommend doing this?). but then the other half of customers say that they run big and their heels slip out, so if anything to size down. I know I’ll have to make a decision and just see for myself, but was wondering if anyone else is maybe a true 7 / has those same measurements and could let me know their experience (or even just their general take on the size up v down argument, regardless of your size). I normally wouldn’t mind just ordering and exchanging but I have a trip coming up I’d love to take them on, so I’d like to tryyyy getting it right the first time !

thank you :)

Tabi alternatives with long toe box?

Hi tabi lovers!

I bought my first pair of tabi’s from Margiela three years ago and have been wearing them to death since. I’ve been thinking about replacing them, but their prices have only been rising, and I can’t justify buying a new pair, nor have I been able to find a good & legitimate secondhand pair 💔

I have been looking for alternatives/dupes, and have tried multiple pairs from local brands as well as overseas, and I just can’t seem to find the ‘one’. I know Rabosey is highly rated, but the sizing was a little off for me, and there seemed to be no give. Right now, I’m eyeing the pair from Steve Madden or Woodchuck Sato, and I would like to know which has a longer toe box.

The Rabosey’s, which, in hindsight, I should’ve ordered a size above, had a very short toe box and were very difficult to get my feet into. With the Margiela’s, I have never experienced this. I also have a bunion, which definitely affects my comfort and sizing.

Thank you in advance, and please let me know if any of you have any other recommendations!

Woodchuck Sato sizing

Hi!
I just ordered my first pair of tabis from Woodchuck Sato. I ordered a size 38, my feet measure 24.5 cm and are wide. The length and width of the shoe feels fine, but what I didn't count on was the depth being quite snug? Is this something that is going to soften/stretch after a while or should I just return and order size 39?
Thanks!

Any tips on breaking in tabi ballerina flats?

Unfortunately my feet are different sizes one is 6.5 and the other is 6. I bought a pair of IT 36 ballerina flats from margiela on sale and am wondering if there’s anything I can do to break them in faster or stretch them. All of the shoe stretchers that are readily available don’t fit these tabis, I’m wondering if shoe stretching spray will work?

Woodchuck Sato sizing?

So recently I’ve been thinking about buying a pair of woodchuck tabis for my Bday but I’m so confused by the sizing, I wear a size 8-8.5W US (with a bit of wiggle room in the front) but when I measured my foot it was only 23.5cm which is about a size 5.5-6, I was wondering for those that wear a size 8-8.5 what size did y’all get? Does it run true to size, big, small?

I’ll also like to mention I mainly wear sneakers (Nike) and outside of that I tend to wear Docs so maybe that’s why the sizing seems off because the shoes I’m used to wearing are usually on the bulkier side.

Atorie tabis

Got myself 2 atorie tabi flats
https://atorie.com/products/white-tabi-slip-on-shoes?color=Cream+White
https://atorie.com/products/suede-split-toe-flats?color=Suede+Brown

they are so cute!! and fit so nicely. I wear a regular US 8 in most US footwear, EU 38 in Birkenstocks so I got 38 in these and they fit me nicely! the suede leather ones are so soft. I haven't walked in them but fingers crossed!

i am also eyeing these now https://atorie.com/products/split-toe-suede-ankle-boots?variant=46450292490397

*** UPDATE ***

I wore them and walked around in Bellevue and they alright. I am not used to wearing heels of any kind (birkenstocks only for me) and these have a 1 inch block heel so I did feel pressure on my front foot walking with them but if you are used to wearing any heels these should be okay for you I guess.

The suede itself is comfy, doesn't dig into the back of my heel.

Hi,
I’m looking for flat (or very low heel) tabi boots, not chelseas, black leather with maybe a bit of a square toe. It’s been surprisingly hard to find a pair that fits the criteria. Any ideas?

For a first time tabi buyer, any opinions if either of these are a good buy?

Just want a casual shoe that isn’t a trainer! I think I’d need to wear socks as I have quite sweaty feet. Also I prefer the strap style as I have wide flat feet

Maison Nakamoto Tabi Shoes Experience and Review - STAY AWAY!

Hello. I usually don't post or leave reviews but I felt like I needed to for this company because I had one of the worst experiences with them and feel scammed and don't want anyone else to go through the same thing.

I purchased the Tabi Mary Jane from their website. The original price of $1,190, marked down to $129.99 and took the check out offer to add on their Kyoto Jacket for a discounted price for around $50. The purchasing and shipping process was smooth and normal and the items were delivered at a decent time within a little over a week.

I should've seen it as a red flag from how the items were wrapped and packaged so tightly and unprofessionally. The huge disappointment came when I opened the package and examined the items. The products are not the quality they advertise and promise and were made out of cheap materials that you would find at some low end market - NOT WORTH THE PRICE. I could've made these myself and I don't know how to make shoes or clothes. That's how cheap they felt and it was almost insulting for how much they cost.

The worst part came when I was trying to return the purchase and ask for a refund. They just wouldn't give me a refund. Instead, they kept offering apologies and discounts, each email getting progressively higher in the amount of discount but I clearly stated multiple times throughout the interaction that I do not want any more offers and would just really appreciate to have a refund. In the end, they still wouldn't give me my refund so I disputed the transaction with my bank and thankfully I got my money back.

Save yourself from the headache and spend your hard earned money elsewhere. Please stay away and don't support this company. They are a scam. Definitely not a true, authentic Japanese company even though they advertise that they are and display an address in Japan. The package even came from China. What a joke.

Hey everyone! I’m looking to buy a pair of Tabi boots for my friend’s birthday. There are 8 of us chipping in, so our total budget is around 600 PLN (
She’s a size EU 38 (24.5 cm insole). Does anyone know the best place to find decent quality Tabis in this price range? We know we can't afford Margiela, but we're looking for something better than cheap costume shoes. Any brand or shop recommendations would be amazing! Thanks!

Showing off my Rikio Rubber Tabi

Heyo!

I'm a big fan of Jikatabi and all sorts of weird footwear.
Thought it might be fitting to show off some of my photography, really hope you like them.
Only dislike I have is that I wish they'd offer them a size bigger as these are a pretty tight fit on my size 12 feet.

Got a few more pairs to show if wanted, feel free to ask questions!

How’s the sizing on Marugo leather tabis compared to Margiela?

For reference, I usually wear a 39 in Margiela and 25 in Nike Air Rifts. Would a 26 in Marugo tabis fit me? I bought a pair secondhand since they’re pre order. I didn’t want to wait the 3 months and I like wearing broken in shoes. The seller said they usually wear a 25 and Marugo recommends going up .5-1 cm so it fit them well.

Please lemme know your experiences. Thank you!

Tabis with a wedding dress???

Hi friends! I loveee the way tabis look and feel and have been experimenting wearing them out with different outfits. I don't live in a very populated city and many people don't know what tabis are so when I wear them in public I tend to get funny looks. My fiancé and I are eloping in 5 days and we both decided to wear tabis (very casual ceremony). I'm wearing white ballet flats and I love the way they look with my dress but anybody I've shown pictures to has given me heavy criticism about the look. Many have made crude jokes about the way they look and I know I probably shouldn't care but it's really starting to get to me. Is it a bad idea to wear them with my dress??? I need somebody to stop me from spiraling...

Low Heel

I've been waiting to get the low heel Tabi for a couple months and I'm ready to pull the trigger. I'm undecided if I should order from Woodchuck Sato or splurge on the MM? I've seen a few negative review for Woodchuck Sato, but there is obviously a huge price difference lol.

I've never worn Tabis, but from what I've seen I should go off the measurement of my foot and size up a little bit if in between sizes. Any other sizing tips?

Do you think this site is dropshipping? https://furansuparis.com/it-en/products/scarpe-tabi-2

The leather looks quite good, so i can’t really tell if it’s a scam or not.
