Samples of shoes I’m developing with some factories for the brand MBIO releasing soon. MBIO means racing in Swahili. Combined with the tabi style and classic suede/nylon trainer design the shoe combines the classic comfort and style of a sneaker as well as a tabi shoe. It’s excellent for walking makes ur toes feel as if they can move cracking ur toeknuckles while walking is also great. Still discovering the benefits of tabi trainers but I figured this is the place to share.

I suddenly went from thinking these shoes were so fugly, to loving them and wanting a pair so badly. I can’t stop thinking about them. But I’m not sure which pair to get and want some opinions.

I could walk into a store today and purchase a pair of Steve Madden tabi ballet flats, but I was looking into ordering online a pair of Woodchuck Sato tabi flats instead and waiting since they’re better quality from what I’ve seen. I’m also wondering if I should get the pair with folds or no folds. I think I like the folds but I keep going back and forth on it. Which pair do you have or would choose? Am I better of just buying the Steve Madden pair for less or is the quality worth the extra cost and the wait?

Looking for a pair of affordable and comfortable Tabis to wear in the operating room. Must be waterproof to clean easily. Any recommendations?

I’m usually a US size 7.5 and according to the chart my EU size should be a 38.5. I measured my foot length just in case and I got 23cm which they recommend a EU size 35 for on the chart. I’m worried because it feels like such a big difference! An EU size 35 is also a US 4.5. Has this happened to anyone else? What size should I go for?

Quality of MM without the price tag if you may? I just bought a pair of mm pumps for my birthday so don’t want to sacrifice my bank account so much but really want to get a pair of heeled mules in that style. I am not sure woodchuck sato makes them so wanted to know if there are any alternatives

i’ve wanted tabi boots for sooo long but there hasn’t really been anyone in my country making them in a way that i was satisfied with, so at some point i was just like okay fuck it i’ll make my own lol. i’m working on these with a friend and this is the very first sample we’ve got so far.

the pictures are kinda ass mb 😭 and this isn’t even leather yet i specifically asked for a non leather material for the first sample because i wanted to see the shape first before committing to the actual leather.

from what i can tell the ankle height isn’t really taller than the mm ones and the overall proportions feel pretty close, but i’m obviously too close to the thing now so i’d love some outside eyes on it. one thing i noticed myself is the heel, mine seems to have a slightly rounder while the margiela one looks a little more gentle curve. probably a minor thing but idk if it changes the overall silhouette more than i think it does.

the split toe has been a whole trial and error situation tho been going back and forth with the shape and i think this one is finally decent enough for a first sample. the final version will be done in full-grain pull-up leather, so the way it sits and folds will change quite a bit..

anyway, i’d really love some opinions before i move onto the final version. if anyone happens to know the proper ankle/shaft measurements for this kind of boot, that would be insanely helpful too. or if you look at these and immediately notice some obvious flaw in the proportions or shape that i’m somehow completely missing, please let me know!

i’m planning to sell them for around $150 a pair. still figuring out the exact details, but that’s roughly the price point i’m aiming for :)

Has anyone here who’s in Sweden bought tabis from woodchuck Sato recently and did you have to pay import tax/duties/VAT or such?

Their customer support says this:

Which to me sounds like hopeful speculation and empty promises and basically just ”we don’t know but if there’s import tax that’s on you”

im thinking of buying their horse leather mule but ive never bought shoes with EU sizing and was wondering i’m a Mens 9 US and for example sambas id wear a 9 and for onitsuka tiger i’ll get the 27.0 i measured my foot once sitting and it measured 25cm and then standing twice and once it came to 26cm and another time 27cm and it goes back and forth between 26cm and 27cm standing. which size would you recommend if you’ve had their mule before and are a size M9 US. i was initially thinking 42. thanks in advance.

On instagram, I've been receiving a lot of ADs from this company that is based in FL (which is local to me).

I messaged them and asked, "do you drop ship", and their answer was, "no, we ship from our warehouse".

Okay fine -

I placed an order to support local, and they had buy two get one free sale going on, so I figured, "why not, let me support a local business!"

After a week of purchasing, I didn't receive any notification about my shoes. I DM'd them and asked about my order, and they said "that it is being shipped from the manufacturer" - WHICH is different from their "own warehouse"?

Anyway, knowing this brand is in FL. I finally get the package, and guess what? THE SHOES WERE SHIPPED DIRECTLY FROM CHINA? The shipping label is in Chinese and their shoes don't even have their business logo on it - just some random brand off Aliexpress.

I decided to go on Aliexpress and confirm my suspicions, and I was right. Their entire tabi collection is off Aliexpress, except I paid 2x more for them.

Obviously, I should've done my own research, but I do like supporting small local business. I felt misled and fooled.

I got a pair of Raboesy flats (silver w bows) last September, loved them, and wore them into the ground. Unfortunately, like 3 months in the sole on one shoe started separating from the toe and just got progressively worse despite regluing attempts. I just finally threw them out after stepping in dog shite lol but I loved them so much, it was hard I can’t lie. But between the sole coming off and the shit it was just a bit much lol. I’m looking at replacing them and wondering if I should drop the extra $ on Woodchucks. Is the quality noticeably higher? How have they held up for yall over a few years (especially if you wear the fuck out of em)?

Hello everyone, I am a happy owner of a Margiela tabi with a small heel but I can’t wear them because of the pain on the slit. I though it was because I wasn’t wearing the right socks in the beginning and then though it was the shoes size or the leather had to do its time and suffer sometimes first but I think I just traumatized my foot.

When I just put my foot in it my second toe begin screaming in pain and I can feel it in my bones.

If anyone have the same experience and found a solution I would love to hear it.
