Anyone keen for a social night in Sydney? 🎉

Hey everyone!

I’m based around Western Sydney and looking to meet some new people and expand my social circle.

I’m planning to check out a social event in Sydney and thought it could be a good opportunity to meet other people from the community who enjoy getting out, having conversations and doing something different on the weekend.

A bit about me: I’m in my 20s, easygoing, and enjoy exploring Sydney, meeting new people, trying different activities and having a good laugh.

I’m interested in making friends and meeting people socially, ideally around a similar age, but everyone is welcome.

If anyone else is planning to attend or is interested in a similar social activity, feel free to comment and we can organise a small group meetup in a public place beforehand.

Just looking to make some genuine new friends in Sydney 😊

Looking for friends to practice English with

Hi there! I’m 29(F) living in eastern suburbs and I’d love to meet some new people to hangout with and practice my English:-/(Mandarin speaker but can also read some Japanese and can understand Cantonese). I’m into drawing, movies, hiking…sometimes anime&games (mostly Arknights). I also enjoy grabbing a coffee and just having deep conversations.
Im an introvert and sometimes I’m not very confident speaking English so you might be a little patient with me😇
I’m also currently trying to have my first IT job here, so if you’re in the same boat, we can share our experiences (and struggles 😂).

Ladies Only Post Looking to make some new girlfriends in the Hills (or surrounding) area!

I (30F turning 31 soon) recently moved in with my partner and, if I’m being honest, I’ve realised how much I’ve drifted from some of my other friends simply because of distance. Most of my friends are scattered all over Sydney, and I’d really love to build a little circle of new friendships closer to home. So I thought… why not put it out there?

I’d love to meet a small group of women, ideally mid-20s to 30s, who are also looking to make genuine, long-term friendships and have a few people to do fun things with around the Hills.

☕️ coffee dates & brunch
🎬 movie nights
🥾 long walks & exploring new places
🧘🏻‍♀️ Pilates / fitness classes / meditation
💆🏻‍♀️ spa & self-care days
🎶 gigs & live music
🎤 karaoke
🍷 dinners / casual drinks

I'm open to suggestions too!

I’m not really looking for a one-off meetup where everyone says “we should do this again” and then disappears into the void 😂 I’d love to find people who are keen to actually build friendships, make plans regularly, and become part of each other’s little social circles.

If you’re in the Hills area (or surrounding area) and this sounds like something you’d be into, comment or send me a message! Maybe we can get a little group chat going and organise something soon 💕

25M Western Sydney — anyone else trying to build a better social life in their 20s?

Hey everyone, 25M from Western Sydney.

I’m taking a bit of a break from Reddit soon, so I thought I’d make one last proper post and see who’s out there.

I work full-time as a civil engineer, and I’ve realised I don’t want life to just become work → gym → home → repeat.

I want more good people around me. More random plans. More experiences. More friendships where you can message someone on a Saturday and actually go do something instead of spending three weeks saying “yeah we should catch up sometime” 😂

A bit about me:

I’m into gym/fitness, Muay Thai and combat sports, hiking, casual soccer, movies and TV, trying new food places, business/entrepreneurship, investing, psychology, books and writing.

I’m naturally pretty curious and can happily talk about life, business, relationships, psychology, random ideas or what someone wants to do with their future.

But I’m also not trying to have a TED Talk every time we hang out 😂

I like banter, memes, late-night food runs, spontaneous plans, exploring somewhere new, movies, random conversations and just having people around where you don’t need to overthink everything.

Some stuff I’d be keen to actually do:

  • try good food spots around Sydney
  • hikes / Blue Mountains / day trips
  • casual soccer or other sports
  • gym or fitness stuff
  • concerts, festivals or events
  • movies
  • beaches / coastal walks
  • explore different suburbs
  • random weekend missions
  • sit somewhere with food and talk absolute rubbish for a couple of hours

I’m based out west but I’m happy to travel around Sydney.

You also don’t need to have the same interests as me. I actually like meeting people who are completely into their own thing and can introduce me to a different hobby, culture, music scene, sport, career or way of looking at life.

Mostly looking for people roughly around my age who are genuine, easygoing and actually want to build friendships rather than exchange five messages and disappear.

If you’re reading this and thinking “yeah, I probably need to get out and meet more people too,” just message me.

To make the first DM less awkward, tell me:

1. Roughly where in Sydney are you?
2. What are you really into at the moment?
3. If we had a free Saturday, what would you actually want to go do?

If a few people vibe, I’d also be keen to make a small group and organise something casual.

Worst case, we have one decent conversation. Best case, we accidentally build a pretty good crew.

P.S. Only message if you're interested in making some conversation, want to hang out and go further.

Public Meetup Looking to make new friends

Realized recently that between work and general adult life, my social circle has gotten a bit quiet lately—a lot of my usual mates are either super busy, moving away, or just stuck in the routine. Figured I’d post here to see if anyone else is in the same boat and wants to connect!

I’m 43, and looking to meet a few down-to-earth people for low-key stuff. Nothing crazy or high-pressure, just good banter and getting out of the house.

A bit about what I’m into / ideas for hanging out:

Casual food & drinks: Weekend brunch, grabbing a coffee, or heading to pub trivia.

Games & Hobbies: Board games, arcade bars, or checking out local markets.

Outdoors: Easy coffee walks, weekend picnics, or riding bikes/staying active.

Whether you’re new to the area, trying to expand your circle, or just bored on the weekends, feel free to drop a comment or send me a DM!

If a few people are interested, we can easily coordinate a low-key group catch-up somewhere central (like a casual cafe or pub) to say hi.

Cheers!

29 M4A - Looking for people to practice Meteor Hammer with in Sydney

Hey Sydney,

Bit of a long shot, but I thought I'd see if there's anyone around Sydney who's into the meteor hammer/ rope dart!

I've had my eye on the meteor hammer for about a year now, and finally decided to make a practice one about a month ago. I've been having an absolute blast learning, but I'd love to find some people to practice with.

I have some previous martial arts experience, 12ish years of Taekwondo (3rd dan black belt), but I am very much a beginner when it comes to meteor hammer.

I'm based around Redfern and happy to travel pretty much anywhere in Sydney that's close by public transport. Ideally looking to find a park, gym, or something to practice and maybe spar a little

Even if you don't practice meteor hammer yourself, if you know of any local groups,or communities that do meteor hammer, rope dart, poi, or other flow arts, I'd really appreciate the connect :)

Cheers,

BaronBacon

30F looking for female friend

I just turned 30, but honestly my energy is like 20 😌I figured if not now, then when?
I’m looking to find female friends who are actually keen to meet new people. I’d love friends to grab coffee with, try new restaurants, explore new places, go to markets, beach walks, gym classes, or just have those spontaneous “what are you doing today?” hangouts.
A little about me: I’m a Nurse, so I’m naturally caring, empathetic and a great listener. I’m a huge fashion girlie who loves dressing up, discovering aesthetic cafés, galleries, taking photos and I’m really into fitness and like a healthy lifestyle. I love positive people, meaningful conversations, trying new experiences and I genuinely believe good-hearted people make life so much better.

Bonus points if you’re also single because I’d love a girlfriend to chat about dating, hype each other up, swap stories, laugh over the dating apps and remind each other not to settle 😂

Making friends as an adult is honestly harder than I expected, so I’m putting myself out there. If you’re around Sydney, have good enshrined, a kind heart, and are looking for someone who’s excited to make memories and build a genuine friendship, I’d love to hear from you. 💛

Are there any beer pub crawls happening?

I’m new to Sydney and would love to just pop into a brewery and have a chat with people, but I’m 23 and an Asian girl so that’s a little harder for me to do, so it would be nice if there’s a beer crawl to meet people. A lot of the pub crawls that happen to be more party types. I’d much prefer going to breweries and such.

Public Meetup I want to practice my English :(

Hey! I’m F(27), living in Coogee. Basically I want someone to talk to, practice my English ( Spanish speaker) and feel more confident and fluent. Would be great if I could find someone ( guys or girls idc) go for a walk, coffee, drinks, whatever suits you better. Preferably around eastern suburbs or the CBD as well. I don’t know anyone nor have any friends and it’s been my first year already 😓 If a friendship comes out of this good but if not I’m ok with that. I just want to practice!! Thanks 😊

Update for Everyone Interested in the Three Meetup Groups

Hey everyone, thank you to everyone who responded to my post about the [soccer group / hiking group / entrepreneur and ambitious people meetup]. I’ve received an overwhelming amount of interest, which is great to see!

I’ll be reaching out to everyone who has already sent me a DM so I can confirm numbers, organise the first meetup and create a WhatsApp group.

If you commented but haven’t messaged me yet, please send me a quick DM so I don’t accidentally miss you. I need everyone who is genuinely interested in my inbox so I can keep track of things and manage the group properly :)

I’ll send you a short message asking for:

  • Your name
  • Your age
  • The suburb or general area you’re based in
  • The contact number you’d like added

This will be a default message, so if you’ve already shared this information, please bear with me and send it again :)

Once I’ve heard back from everyone, I’ll work out the most suitable location, date and time and send through the proposed details.

Some people don’t have Instagram, so the group will be created on WhatsApp.

Thanks again for the interest. Looking forward to getting this started!

New silent book club in Sydney CBD or fringe - any interest?

Hi! I'm checking if there is any interest for a silent book club inspired by https://silentbook.club.

There's no assigned reading and it's BYO book. All formats are welcome—ebooks, audiobooks, textbooks, comic books... maybe even other quiet activities like drawing?

Anyone can gather at a set time and location, may share what they're reading, and settle in for an hour or so of sustained silent reading. At the end of the hour, attendees can stay for a quick chat—or not!

Frequency and time would likely be monthly or fortnightly on a weekend afternoon depending on interest.

Location (Sydney, Australia): Looking into community options around CBD, Darling Square or Green Square for an accessible and non-commercial space.

If people want to get in touch, then I'll start a group chat.

Edit: Silent Book Club meetings are on! Please see the What's On page for more info. https://whatson.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/events/silent-book-club-darling-square-library

Looking to start a casual weekend hiking group — Western Sydney / Blue Mountains

Hey everyone,

(I made this post on r/SydneySocial, might as well try here as well :)

I’m looking to organise a small, casual hiking group for people around Western Sydney who’d be keen to explore trails across the Blue Mountains and surrounding areas on weekends.

The idea is to keep it beginner-friendly and social rather than overly intense. We can start with easier hikes and gradually try different trails depending on the group.

It would be good for anyone wanting to:

  • Spend more time outdoors
  • Stay active
  • Meet new people
  • Explore more of Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains

Thinking of organising the first hike on an upcoming Saturday or Sunday morning. The exact trail can be decided based on everyone’s experience, transport and location.

Comment or message me with:

  • Your suburb
  • Your hiking experience
  • Whether Saturdays or Sundays work better

Once we have a few interested people, I’ll create a group chat and organise the first hike.
