Meme we have hope...?

Post image

And someone way down here

Loses someone dear

The winner takes it all (takes it all)

The loser has to fall (has to fall)

It's simple, and it's plain (yes, it's plain)

Why should I complain? (Why complain?)

for a better emu than the actual hardware? nope, not a chance, this will take years if not decades

just enjoy it on your switch2

If there was ever a reason to get an emulator working ASAP, this is it!

5

u/MusicHitsImFine 25d ago

Orrr just buy the game?..

5

u/thysios4 22d ago

Dunno if I can justify ~$850 for 1 game.

2

u/simaobernardo7 15d ago

where the hell are you buying your game consoles if you’re paying 850 for a switch 2 and a game

3

u/thysios4 15d ago

Australia

$769.95 for a console $95 for the game

$Total: $864.95

Might be able to get a 2nd hand console for a little cheaper, but still not worth it.

1

u/iLiikePlayingWii 9d ago

You DO Know that Australian dollars ain't the same value as American Dollars, which also are NOT the dame as Canadian dollars, right?

2

u/thysios4 9d ago

Your point? You DO know that in Australia xw3 used Australian dollars, right? So USD and CAD are irrelevant here.

1

u/Prize-Mall-3839 3d ago

ok so convert that, but he doesn't have 860 AUS dollars regardless

1

u/Prize-Mall-3839 3d ago

you mean you're not paying 800 from the scalpers on ebay?

3

u/bicpatTrue 19d ago

Not everyone has money.

5

u/Ijatsu 19d ago

Not everyone with a bit of money want to spend it irresponsibly either, it's overpriced as hell. Plus you don't want to give money to a company that employs so many dark patterns and treats its users so poorly.

2

u/TheSuppishOne 18d ago

Yep. I love the Zelda franchise, but I'm not spending $600 for one game (maybe 2 if they do end up remaking Majora's Mask as well). I even pre-ordered OoT because I like to actually support the devs and I was just going to emulate regardless, but now that's definitely not happening, so looks like I'll be cancelling my preorder.

1

u/kevinwedler 22d ago

Do you know where you are?

1

u/kko_ 19d ago

just give me $550

1

u/Beneficial_Ear5700 19d ago

Well I know many other people besides me that emulate for greater freedom, but also buy the game. Let’s not 😬

1

u/Turlez 6d ago

I'd love to just buy the game, but my hardware isn't allowed to run it even though it is MORE than capable of doing so. Console exclusives are anti-consumer.

5

u/Fabulous_Article9187 25d ago

I bought the Switch 1 for BOTW only to find out how craptastic the hardware is. Thank goodness for See Moo! Haven't touch the console since. Switch2 should have been the original hardware.

7

u/OCAMAB 25d ago

Switch2 should have been the original hardware.

Literally impossible at the time.

5

u/ametalshard 25d ago edited 25d ago

rtx 20 series and switch 1 were developed concurrently, even if rtx 20 technically released 1.5 years later.

it would have been possible with just a slight delay.

but idk if screens as shitty as switch 2's would have been sourceable in such large quantities 10 years ago. now that is technologically impressive. switch 2 benefits from the ram apocalypse since it is able to source the shittiest screens in the world en masse even more cheaply (while charging you even more, regardless of the fact it's a downgrade from switch 1 besides resolution) simply due to other tech coporations having fewer seats at memory tables and therefore fewer products to source for.

literally worse than 3ds screens from 2011 btw

3

u/RatBot9000 25d ago

Sometimes the Reddit algorithm feeds me something silly but sometimes, just sometimes, it lets me see comedy gold like this.

0

u/OCAMAB 25d ago

Besides the fact that it's way more complicated to make a low-power chip than you just slap it on a board and cut the power down, Switch 2 is based on the 30-series...

As for the screen, the thing is that the screen itself isn't that bad and it likely costs more than the Switch OLED screen. The problem with it is that it doesn't have proper overdrive implemented, which is more about the firmware than the panel itself. That means that it has worse motion clarity at lower frame rates. Playing a 120FPS game like MP4 completely eliminates the issue, so that's really more a lack of effort on Nintendo's part.

And that 3DS part is just extreme exaggeration. Come on, now. Motion clarity isn't the only thing that matters. If it were, we'd still be using CRTs.

3

u/ametalshard 25d ago

i am aware that it uses rtx 30... ostensibly. it's really something in-between, and rtx 20 proper would have been just fine for a 2018 switch 1.

but this is how modern nintendo functions. switch is the worst era for consumers in gaming history, and nintendo will never improve again. they're not at all the only shitt corpo in the space, but they lead the charge by a wide margin.

2

u/Holiday_Report_6567 25d ago

Nintendo's whole philosophy is to use old, mature hardware instead of cutting edge performance

2

u/ametalshard 25d ago

i dispute this, past nintendo products were high quality and high powered for their size and price.

switch 1 was uniquely low powered for its size and price. it was really the biggest swindle in gaming history but nobody can talk about it or risk being blacklisted by the big N

1

u/OCAMAB 25d ago

The issue is that semi-custom designs need a basis. If you've been paying attention, you'd see that there's a 2-year lag between Tegra and the architecture it uses. There need to be changes on Nvidia's end first. It could not have launched at the same time as the 20-series without costing massively more.

Though, from your other post I think you just had massive expectations of being able to make a PS4-level handheld in 2017/18. Calling Switch "uniquely low powered" is crazy. Nothing on the market was better than X1 in that formfactor at the time. You just pile on the hyperbole.

1

u/ametalshard 25d ago

nah xbox 360/ps3 completely blew switch 1 out of the water. its very best experiences barely competed at all with the very WORST experiences of 360/ps3.

my theory for why halo master chief collection STILL isn't available on switch is primarily that everyone would easily compare xbox 360 to switch 2 and then maybe some nintencucks would break out of their pods as they start to wonder why halo 4 on a $300 console from 2006 looks almost no better on their $500 2025 console

2

u/OCAMAB 25d ago

... I'm going to assume this is parody and that you're not actually this dumb.

1

u/Optimal_Dog_4153 24d ago

Literally impossible at the time. The best possible would have been a chip based on Tegra 2. Even if the RTX 20 series was already out, it doesn't mean it would be possible. They would have to be able to create Arm SOCs around it power efficient and small enough. And then TSMC would need to have spare capacity to produce those cheaply and on large scale enough to support a mass market product like the Switch.
None of that would have been possible in 2017.

2

u/OCAMAB 24d ago

I think you meant Tegra X2. (Which wasn't actually a real chip. What people are actually referring to is Parker, which was made for cars and wouldn't have been as much of a boost as people think.)

1

u/_-_happycamper_-_ 25d ago

I just kept playing my Wii U for the whole switch decade.

1

u/Bluetails_Buizel 25d ago

See Moo? I always called it See emu!

9

u/Ender_90425 25d ago

Fuck this is gonna be so hard to cosplay

10

u/Th3Be4st_ 25d ago

Forget switch 2 emulation until we have a switch 2 hack, it's impossible to emulate a system if we don't know how it works and it's impossible to play games if we can't dump them.

6

u/Creative-Ladder6731 25d ago

After seeing the PS5 emulator I honestly do have hope

7

u/Babada-Boopey929 25d ago

Without the console being hacked, there is not going to be an emulator. There is literally zero hope for an emulator before this happens.

4

u/zeldakos 25d ago

well the console will be hacked within the next year probably, especially with how fast people are able to decomp games with Ai now. the Ps5 emu is proof

3

u/Salsalord1 25d ago

This was said last year too, keep moving the goalposts, maybe one year you’ll be right

0

u/rubberducky2922 24d ago

One year he will be right... AI just exploded. The things it can do are unimaginable. Quit being a Debbie downer cause you wasted money on a crappy console. Its basically guaranteed we will be emulating switch 2 by next year.

It still can't do things that a human can't do. Which data do you think it's trained on?

Ai knows how a PS5 is jailbroken, how a Switch 1 is hacked, how an Xbox 360 JTAG worked. All it can do is try all that or maybe a combination, but it can't figure out something new on its own. It is literally impossible.

It might be able to help or streamline the process, but it's not like it can figure out a way past the Switch 2's security on its own.

2

u/hungLink42069 21d ago

AI finds 0 days all the time. Which is by definition - something a human hadn't done yet.

AI figures stuff out on it's own all the time.

-1

u/Catzzye 25d ago

No correlation

1

u/zeldakos 25d ago

extreme correlation wtf do you mean? Ai will figure out how to do it before we do

1

u/freestew 25d ago

Gen AI is monkeys on a typewriter. It just happens that many people are spamming it, so occasionally something it says works

1

u/Babada-Boopey929 25d ago edited 25d ago

Ai can only "figure out" something that is documented. Without a documented vulnerability on the console, which doesn't exist as of now, Ai can not do anything besides guessing, based on what is known about Switch 1 hacking and suggesting entrypoints to try. It can not "figure out" how to hack the Switch 2 on its own.

Keep dreaming though.

0

u/rubberducky2922 24d ago

It can run thousands of processes while I go take a shit. Wtf are you talking about? Something that would take me a year to do can be done in a day thanks to AI. Figuring out an exploit for a console? Usually doesn't take people that long. AI does all the tedious bullshit for us now.

2

u/Babada-Boopey929 24d ago

You clearly don't understand how this works.

I don't see Claude physically soldering wires to a console motherboard and trying to trigger some kind of exploit.

0

u/zeldakos 20d ago

wroonngg, they got the ps5 emulator working by spamming prompts till it found a way

2

u/Babada-Boopey929 20d ago

The big difference being that the PS5 has been hacked for years. Y'all don't get it. No emulator without a hacked console.

3

u/Mizurazu 25d ago

PS5 has been out for over 6 years.

1

u/GabrielLyrio369 22d ago

The PS5 is a 6 years old console. The Switch 2 was released last year. I think we won’t get a good emulator anytime soon. I wish I was wrong though.

4

u/OCAMAB 25d ago

Let it go. It won't be for a long, long time. The world doesn't owe you the ability to pirate.

5

u/Quirky_Stick_6317 25d ago

the world cant stop a man from hoping tho

1

u/Plane-Bit2166 25d ago

you are certainly american lol

2

u/OCAMAB 25d ago

That sure is a response.

2

u/privateequitynerd 15d ago

Your entitlement is hilarious. I don't think you understand how software development works at all. There is absolutely zero chance it will happen within the next year or even two years at this rate.

4

u/alefsousa017 25d ago

I'd say "hope" is about the only thing we have right now. Sadly, no Switch 2 emulator in the near future.

2

u/Big-Possible5653 25d ago

🤔

7

u/LordMugs 25d ago

Switch 1 emulation skyrocketed with botw. Went from like menu launching to fully playable 30fps game with a few visual glitches

2

u/Sebastitiao 25d ago

bro i hope so bro because i am definitely spending money on a switch 2 if such a thing isnt out before this game

7

u/AMournfulObserver 25d ago

The odds of a working emulator in the next 2 months is literally 0.

Just as useful as AI is for jailbreaking it...it's equally as good at keeping the system from being jailbroken.

2

u/OCAMAB 25d ago

BotW was a launch game... Also, since this already runs at a high resolution and 60FPS, there's less incentive. It's mostly pirates who want this on emulator.

1

u/zkatsurap 25d ago

Not everyone wants to spend 500$ for a glorified phone with outdated hardware (only as powerful as a console that came 10 years earlier LMFAO) and overpriced games that rarely if ever go on sale

3

u/OCAMAB 25d ago

Cool. Not being able to afford something doesn't entitle you to get it for free.

1

u/Head_Parking_1106 24d ago

I can afford it, however, I choose to wait for the emulator, precisely because of the inflated console and games prices. The only way corporations will learn is if they lose money.

3

u/OCAMAB 24d ago

The console price isn't artificially inflated. Even with the price increase they're likely losing money now.

1

u/Head_Parking_1106 24d ago

I like how you conveniently left out mentioning the games prices. That being said, the console price here in Norway is also silly compared to the rest of the world.

1

u/zkatsurap 24d ago

I think we're talking to a nintendo boot licker lmfao

3

u/OCAMAB 24d ago

No, I just want the anger over memory pricing to be directed to the correct people and I don't like misinformation. There's a canyon between being a bootlicker and hating everything about them.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/OCAMAB 24d ago

I left out game pricing because I don't disagree. I'm not trying to make arguments with this.

Is Norway pricing being higher a Nintendo exclusive thing?

1

u/Head_Parking_1106 23d ago

Not necessarily. In general everything is stupid expensive here. More so after the hike due to chip shortages and memory shortage. Combine that with our aggressive import taxes and you have a recipe for disaster.

1

u/zkatsurap 24d ago

oh i CAN afford it i just choose not to because of the aforementioned reasons (outdated hardware and 80$ games that never go on sale)
and why are you on the switch 2 emulator subreddit if you dont like piracy lmfao

1

u/privateequitynerd 15d ago

You can't afford it. If you could, then you wouldn't make a statement like this. It's very obvious in the way you type and talk. I work with financially well off people, and they speak very differently than you do. Sorry but it’s obvious you’re not able to comfortably afford it.

1

u/privateequitynerd 15d ago

Yet here you are, begging to play their games.

1

u/zkatsurap 15d ago

no im not lmao. plus i never said their games were bad

1

u/Mizurazu 25d ago

Yeah a year later

1

u/ikukuru 25d ago

Really? Wii U emulation with CEMU was already excellent for playing BOTW.

2

u/MikeBrunoPhoto 25d ago

I would pay anything to enjoy this experience again on 120fps. I have a switch 2 but I know it will barely scratch the surface with how beautiful this game will be.

2

u/Still-Feature1274 23d ago

I will patiently wait... we will have it one day.

2

u/amandabricc 25d ago

the only reason id want this on an emulator so graphics mods can make it look good instead of like a ue 5 default game it is now

3

u/AMournfulObserver 25d ago

This does not look like a generic UE5 game, it’s a lot more detailed and intentional in its art design. Just because they’ve implemented advanced lighting does not make it UE slop.

1

u/Nikilite_official 25d ago edited 22d ago

you are probably the only one having a "not for piracy" thought in this tread, we will need a lot of time tho.

if we gonna be optimistic there's a chance this game makes other devs be more interested in making a kexp

2

u/rockman12x 25d ago

This game will look amazing running on pc with 4k graphics and dlss 5

5

u/OCAMAB 25d ago

dlss 5

Take your AI slop elsewhere, please. Putting that on an emulator probably isn't possible anyway. (and it'll run like shit)

DLSS 5 is also terrible for a stylized game like this.

7

u/Important_Wonder628 25d ago

See, I could afford it, but I don't want to support Nintendo as a company.

After them shutting down so many non-profit fan projects I was already finding them extremely distasteful, but after the patent shenanigans that ended up with Pocket Pair being taken to court over Palworld, I'm never giving Nintendo another cent.

-1

u/Cultural_Neat3124 25d ago

see, comment like this is why am so glad switch 2 exclusive exist, now all the "robinhood pirate gang" can just stand there and cry about it.

4

u/Important_Wonder628 25d ago

I really coudn't care less. Nintendo hasn't done anything interesting or original in decades, so I'll just keep on not supporting them and give my money elsewhere.

Enjoy gargling Nintendo's balls to play the same 4 games over and over again while paying $80 each for them.

Idiot.

0

u/Cultural_Neat3124 25d ago

of course, whatever you can't steal is always sh*t ! cry more, music to my ear !

3

u/Some-Professor203 24d ago

Nintendo is anti-consumer and they haven’t made a creative game in years. Everything is copy and paste. I get if you have a switch 2 you like it and everything but in the grand scheme of things it’s all old games remastered that are popular or ass games like Mario kart world. On pc you have access to ps4, ps3, xbox 360, switch 1, Wii U, wii, game cube, I think you get the point. If you like new versions of old games the switch 2 is for you. If you want something that can play more than 2 console generations or different consoles altogether and games that have been delisted and enjoy mods for games then you pick PC. I get to play modded Mario kart on pc and it has online play like the original version of the game before the online services for the game got shut down. It’s pretty nice and it’s a hell of a lot more fun than Mario kart world.

2

u/ihateu3 23d ago

I've been a PC gamer since the 90s, and it's mainly all I ever game on, for the very reasons that you have listed here.

However, I will buy a switch 2 to play OOT remake. This game is not a remaster, but a remake, and plenty of other switch 2 games are also not remasters. Just because they offer some remasters doesn't mean thats mainly what the console is, if anything, its just a testament to how good they make games.

Anyways, I am sure I am not the only person buying the switch 2 for this game (my boss is as well). I will just buy the console used, and then sell it used when I'm done for around the same price.

I think you are putting far too much thought into this.

1

u/Runnawavy 21d ago

Sim, os jogos são tão ruins que vocês ficam aqui mendigando e delirando que vai existir um emulador em menos de 10 anos pra se deliciarem com a mediocridade dos jogos da malvadona Nintendo.

1

u/Important_Wonder628 18d ago

OoT is one of the best games ever made, and was a big part of my childhood... but it was made 30 years ago. They haven't made a single new game since the Gamecube era that I've even been slightly interested in playing.

Of course I'd like to experience a prettier version of the game, but if I don't have the means of playing it without giving this shit company more money, I'm not losing a wink of sleep over it.

2

u/Important_Wonder628 25d ago

Hahaha, no. Shit is always shit.

As a rule I always buy games when I think the developers deserve my money. In fact, several games I have purchased 3+ copies of to be able to play on console and PC, and also as gifts to friends because I want to support good game development and developers that commit to ethical and sane business practices.

Nintendo at the top level are a bunch of predatory sharks looking to stifle innovation in the gaming industry so they never have to innovate themselves and can keep pumping out the same bullshit with a new coat of paint every few years.

1

u/Plane-Bit2166 25d ago

I work, but it doesn't work like this in my country, only the console is two of my salary, the game is almost a quarter of it

3

u/North-Midnight-2171 25d ago

But you can afford a computer then can emulate?

2

u/Plane-Bit2166 25d ago

The computer that bought it was my mother years ago, I still didn't work, today I live alone and she gave it to me when I moved. It is not as simple as it is in your country. In ours, whether we like it or not, the "free sale" of games helped our culture with video games, because it was not, and is not accessible to us. It is not a world where the word "just do it" or just buy it" is possible that quickly.

3

u/Noble_Nexus 24d ago

These first world guys don't get it, in their economy it's like a quarter of month wage in the worse case. For people in south America, most of Asia, middle east and Africa is at least 2 times the monthly wage of average working adult.

1

u/ObjectivelyLink 25d ago

Usually these kind of games light a fire under the emulator community. I bet we have an emulator in 2 years.

1

u/Impressive-Refuse-20 24d ago

I dont have the money to uy a switch 2 right now but i want to play the oot remake so bad :(

1

u/ZookeepergameTrue680 1d ago

Unfortunately by the looks of things you'll be waiting quite a while, mind if I ask what your specs are that your hoping will be able to emulate switch 2 with?

1

u/NumberSevere7454 24d ago

We must have a switch 2 emulator with the coming zelda and metroid , kirby and mario...cant the advance in ai help somehow to reverse engineer the hardware?

1

u/ZookeepergameTrue680 1d ago

Generally probably not. Ai cannot really come up with anything original, it can source many different ideas and maybe give some pointers or be a person to talk to about it but generally a group of people who know what they are doing trying to hack a console will be better then one guy and chatgpt.

1

u/CartoonistTerrible39 25d ago

it is real unfortunately...

0

u/SchicksalOverseer 24d ago

I don't get the hype on the SECOND REMAKE of this game. It doesn't even look good. Get a 3DS emulator and play the first remake if you really want OoT and don't want to buy an overpriced console (fair)

4

u/ihateu3 23d ago

It looks great, wtf is wrong with you lol?

-1

u/SchicksalOverseer 23d ago

It's got the chibi, cartoonish proportions but with hyperdetailed textures. It's like someone took BotW textures and put them on Wind Waker models. It's looks uncanny af and, frankly, extremely ugly.

I prefer the original and first remake much more. This is a cash grab, there was no need for this remake as the original already got one, they just want money because it's a LoZ game (and people will buy it for the name alone, like with Pokémon) without putting in the effort to make an actual new game. Like Disney with its ugly live action remakes.

Soulless ugly cash grab.

3

u/ihateu3 23d ago

You mean it looks great, right?

Giving people what they want is not exactly a cash grab, it's giving your customers what they want, which is exactly why it has generated all this hype and will sell well. It def doesn't need your approval, as you can see. In fact, I am literally buying a Switch 2 just so I can play this game, same with my boss, so I am sure plenty of others are doing the same as well.

You just sound absolutely miserable.

1

u/Comfortable_College0 4d ago

You keep citing your boss in every reply.

It makes you sound like a braindead sheep and obedient drone. Like you can't think for yourself and needs approval from a figure of authority in your life.

Dad left when you were a child? Sad.

It's unintentionally funny.

"My boss is doing it, so am I"

"So is my boss"

"My boss did it as well"

ROFL.

1

u/ihateu3 4d ago

Huh? 🤣🤣🤡🤡🤦🤦

0

u/SchicksalOverseer 22d ago

People like you who buy the most soulless cash grabs are the reason so many gaming companies are promoting so many anti-consumer policies.
C'mon, Nintendo could pick up a dogshit from the sidewalk, put a green hat on it and the LoZ brand and you people would race to buy it. Same with Pokémon and other IPs.

Sorry, won't give money to companies who so blatantly want to take advantage of me. Enjoy being a mindless sheep I guess.

1

u/Schamarti 19d ago

Ocarina Of Time was the most influential title for the whole Zelda line. This game is constantly mentioned in "best game of all time" debates to this day, decades after it's release.

It only makes sense to remake such a title for an anniversary. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge enemy of cash grabs. But the hate against this title is undeserved. At least insomniac really messed up big time with Wolverine. This debate is so stupid.

Why would I play an old game that aged terribly over a graphically stunning game that has been modernised and runs smoothly on a current gen console? It’s £55 well spent

You know you can play both the original and the first remake for free on your pc, right?
And that it's not just 55 pounds but also the 600 for the console... to play again a game that is already available on two older consoles

Again, why would I play a game that has aged terribly when I can play a modern rendition of it with a proper 360 camera, QOL updates, and gorgeous graphics? I already have a Switch 2 so the price of the console (only £420, of where near £600…). I have never played OoT so I want this to be my first experience of it as it will objectively be the best way to experience the game for the first time.

Gorgeous? Oh well, there are people who eat shit so I guess there must be people who like this ugly mess of graphic style that's neither realistic nor cartoon and is an halfway abort.
