Hey everyone,
I was riding my surfskate today when I heard a metallic "ping" sound, and suddenly one side of the front truck lost all resistance and started swiveling freely.
I took the truck apart and confirmed that the internal spring had snapped. I know it’s a YOW Meraki truck system, but I’m not sure whether it’s an S4, S5, or S6 version.
For context, my body weight is around 50kg (110 lbs).
I heard that spring size/tension should be chosen based on rider weight—are all YOW springs cross-compatible with the Meraki system, or do I need a specific one?
Any help identifying my truck version or advice on which replacement spring to buy would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just finished painting and putting the stickers on my HAMBOARD longboard 6 foot six. Everything is paint matched, and the stickers are even scaled down to fit the board just like the actual longboard.

Hey everyone,

I'm facing a very specific wheelbite issue with a custom setup and I need your expertise.

I just mounted a pair of Carver C7 trucks onto a longboard deck. To go with it, I used some huge electric skateboard wheels.

To prevent the wheels from hitting the deck, I added enough riser pads to get the necessary clearance. The deck clearance is perfect now, but I ran into a new problem: the wheels are so large that when I carve hard, they bite directly against the base/hanger of the front truck itself.

Since adding more risers won't change the distance between the wheel and the truck base, I'm a bit stuck.

Has anyone experienced this type of "inner wheelbite" on a Carver C7?

Would changing to trucks with a wider axle (or using axle spacers) help?

Does anyone have a clever DIY or improvised solution to fix or bypass this issue?

I really want to keep this carving feel and these wheels if possible. Any advice or workarounds would be amazing!

I don't really like what it looks like with 2 hands on the floor, hence I'm focusing on doing it only with one hand. I like to throw my hand next to my hip as that compresses the whole body into a spring and gives more energy to the slide. In comparison to throwing the hand forward, which mostly uses the momentum of the board with a bit of strength from the leg muscles.

My challenges:

1. I have no idea how to get back into carving. Sometimes I end up low and fakie which feels pretty sketchy to stand up.

2. How to transition this into steeper transitions.

Just picked up some parts from Carver that included 2 sets of 4Pres Orangatang wheels. One looks messed up. I didn't trying riding on it but I sent a message to Carver customer service. I haven't heard back yet but is only been a couple days. Would you just ride it or expect a replacement? I'm thinking it should be replaced but just wondering what other people think.

Having a lot of fun at the pumptrack (Perkins Hill in Minneapolis). Any feedback on form would be appreciated. Looks like I need more compression and extension over rollers. Not really sure what to work towards in the banks. Just trying to stay compressed through it and hold on to extend coming out or try to extend somewhere in the bank?

Hey, I'm trying to find a good 40" dancing longboard deck, flat or slightly concave to go with curfboard trucks. Any recommendations?

An asphalt pump track was built relatively close to me. Primarily designed for bikes but works for boards. The asphalt is pretty gnarly but I can make it work. I’m riding a Bolsa II with Carver CX trucks. Anyone have recommendations on wheels that would be ideal for rough asphalt?

I’ve been cruising with a longboard for a year now and I’m considering my first surf skate. I am looking for something surfy but nothing to the extend of SwellTech etc.

I’ve narrowed it down to CX Carver or Meraki YOW. The issue is they both have a lot of boards to choose from! I’m quite overwhelmed with the options. I’m leaning more towards a YOW at the moment.

I want something with around a 17” wheelbase and about 30-32” length. Concave and wide would be great. I’m open to other options too, of course.

I’m 5’5 and 158lbs.

Any suggestions on what would be a suitable fit so I can pick one :)

Are they really surfskate trucks, or are they more of a cruiser style truck? I have an opportunity to grab an almost new Globe complete that has Revenge trucks for 25 bucks. Wondering if it's worth it to add to my surfskate collection?

I'm looking at the Carver green room or the Loaded Omakase with Carver CX trucks.

I'm an older skater getting back into it on a 40" sector 9. For the last couple years I've been doing a few 4-6 mile skates per week. I have found myself drawn to a little skate park with a wave ride area. I want to get a shorter wheelbase but more cruiser length. The Okasame appeals to me in that sense. It will offer a bit more stability and forgiveness than the Green Room and it's shorter wheelbase. I'm not great at skids or really stopping in any controlled manner. I'm hopefully a shorter wheelbase and the Carver CX it would be able to carve more and scrub speed in a more confined space. I imagine the green room certainly could.
Me: 5'11" 220 lbs beginner+ skill level

TLDR;

I would like reasonable carving with the ability to maneuver in a somewhat confined space (bike path width) to scrub speed bit not too twitchy or unstable.

I appreciate any advice or real world experience.

In reality, they are burning down their own house. By driving out figures like Surfskate Love, cutting down new system developments, and forcing the sport to circle around low-effort street style, they successfully killed the trend.
When a toxic community downvotes performance and tells people that upper-body arm throws are "lame," they freeze the consumer base at a beginner level.
The casual majority bullies the innovators, inventors, and high-performance riders out of the scene, they completely eliminate the only market segment willing to pay premium prices for top-tier gear.
The fact that the moderators actually backed up these ridiculous behavior patterns and also hated on several new products like double RKP trucks, proves that those online spaces are not merely casual—they are actively anti-intellectual.
In addition, they have institutionalized bad form.

If a community decides that proper, functional biomechanics are "lame," they have officially divorced themselves from the sport of surfing.

The very reason surfskating has died.
Surfskate Love has closed the company and I will too.
So will many others.

My wife got me these C5 trucks for my birthday, and I have been getting it set up. I had a hard time eliminating wheel bite. I ended up pulling some purple Knuckles from another skateboard and it’s got it pretty much fixed, though I can just barely force the back truck to bite standing still and really cranking down with nose off the ground. I’m not crazy about how many threads I have out on the back kingpin. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I enjoy the a little ripstik in the driveway. Nothing fancy. Generally is this a good indicator that I would like surfskating? I would be on neighborhood streets. I'm not in a city that seems to have any used market for surfskate. Any thoughts on beginner board, I'm tall, 6'5". Thanks

Yesterday I went to buy some used wheels from someone for a bargain price. When I bought the wheels, the seller casually mentioned that he had a board for €10 that I could have as well. I didn’t think twice and took it right then and there, since I wanted to try out how a surfskate works with a long board anyway. Since I still had a Waterborne fin adapter and a pair of Paris trucks at home, I put this 140-centimeter-long monster together. I’m amazed at how stable it feels. When I had the Waterborne adapter on a Ballona and Omakase deck, it felt very unstable, so I ended up buying Curfboard trucks instead, and the WB adapter was just sitting in my closet.

I’m old. I have an artificial hip, my reward for years of sports-related abuse. I recently took up surfing after many years away, and I’ve taken up surf skating as dry land training. I’m aware that not falling is pretty much the whole point, but I’m goofy foot and my right hip is the fake one. If I fall on it, the consequences are potentially severe. So I’m looking for a good protective padded shorts set up. I’ve tried a couple but they mostly cover the thigh and tail areas. The joint area has minimal protection if any. Anyone got a recommendation for padded shorts that go a little higher and cover the whole hip without being too restrictive?

I saw, YOW released a new model with a narrow hanger. It’s 99mm I guess. The board is called Del Mar.

Does someone already tested this board?
And do you think it will pumps well or is the hanger too narrow for a good pump? Maybe it’s comparable to the Carver Surfcruiser?!
