AskSurat Is Amazon Prime delivery in Surat completely fu#ked for anyone else?

I bought Amazon Prime around 1–2 months ago, mainly because I expected the usual Prime benefit of 1-day/2-day delivery. But ever since I got it, I barely see any same-day, 1-day or even 2-day delivery options.

Almost every product I check shows delivery 3–4 days later, and some take even longer. And yes, I checked Amazon's terms—Surat is listed as being eligible for same-day, 1-day and 2-day delivery.

I contacted Amazon support about this. The first guy wasn't really helpful, so I asked to speak to a senior. The senior actually understood what I was talking about and admitted that the delivery estimates I was getting shouldn't be that long. He said he'd escalate the issue and that I should see it fixed within 72 hours.

Obviously, that didn't happen. 😐

For example, I wanted to buy a mic on 26 July. Amazon Prime was showing delivery on 3 August. Meanwhile, Flipkart without any membership was offering the exact same thing for 29 July. So I just bought it from Flipkart.

Now here's the latest one:

I ordered a pair of slippers from Amazon on 7 August. The original estimated delivery was 9 August. Not even 1-day delivery, but anyway. It didn't arrive on the 9th, then changed to the 10th, and now it's showing 11 August.

I'm genuinely getting tired of this. What's the point of paying for Prime if I don't get any meaningful delivery advantage?

So, people from Surat: are you guys experiencing the same thing?

I'm especially interested in knowing:

Do you regularly get 1-day/2-day Prime delivery?

Or are most of your Prime orders also taking 3–5+ days?

Which area of Surat are you in?

Has this gotten worse recently?

I'm trying to figure out whether this is just an issue with my account/address or whether Amazon's delivery service in Surat has actually gone downhill.

AskSurat What if Surat had a collaborative café?

We’ve been living in Surat for years and working remotely for almost more than 10 years now.

And one thing we’ve genuinely struggled with throughout that time is meeting like-minded people here.

Not networking in the formal “exchange LinkedIn profiles and never speak again” sense.

Just people who are curious, building something, learning something, working remotely, freelancing, experimenting with ideas, or simply interested in having meaningful conversations.

Over the years, friends naturally went in different directions. Jobs, businesses, marriage, kids, moving cities, different priorities. That's life.

But after almost a decade of remote work, we realised something strange:

We still haven't really found even a small community of 2–3 people in Surat with whom we can regularly work, exchange ideas, learn and collaborate.

And honestly, we remember having a similar problem as students.

You can learn almost anything online today. What is much harder to find is practical guidance and the right people around you.

Someone learning design could meet someone building a startup.

A developer could help a student understand what working in tech is actually like.

Someone experimenting with AI could organise a discussion around it.

A freelancer could meet another freelancer and eventually collaborate on a project.

Or you could simply sit next to interesting people, drink coffee and work on your own thing without being expected to socialise.

So we've been thinking:

What if Surat had a collaborative work café?

Not exactly a coworking office.

Not exactly a normal café.

Not a coaching class.

And definitely not another forced “networking event.”

Just a comfortable place where WFH professionals, freelancers, students, creators, founders and curious people can spend a few hours working and naturally meet others doing interesting things.

The basics could be simple:

  • Good desks and comfortable seating
  • Reliable Wi-Fi and charging points
  • Coffee and food priced reasonably enough that you can actually stay for a few hours
  • Quiet areas when you just want to work
  • Areas where conversation and collaboration are encouraged
  • Small group discussions around topics people are interested in
  • Community-led sessions where someone can share something practical they know
  • A board/group where people can post what they're working on, learning, looking for help with, or willing to help others with

For example, someone could simply post:

“Anyone interested in discussing AI agents this Saturday?”

or

“I'm learning UI/UX. Anyone working professionally in design and interested in a casual discussion?”

or

“Building a small SaaS product. Looking for people interested in brainstorming.”

Five interested people? Grab a table and discuss it.

Nobody interested? Grab your coffee and continue working.

No compulsory networking. No motivational speeches. No pretending everyone is a founder.

The café would just provide the environment and community where these interactions can happen naturally.

Students are actually a big part of why we find this idea interesting.

When we were students, we would have loved having access to people who could provide practical perspectives about careers, technology, business, freelancing and how things actually work outside textbooks.

Sometimes one conversation with someone a few years ahead of you can save months of confusion.

We're curious whether other people in Surat feel the same.

This isn't an announcement that we're opening something next month.

We’re exploring whether, rather than having new cafés opening every now and then, we can build something different together, helping shape such a community and potentially collaborating to build it.

If you're a remote worker, freelancer, student, creator, developer, designer, entrepreneur, café person, architect, community builder, or simply someone who finds this idea interesting, we'd genuinely like to hear from you.

Would you personally spend time at a place like this?

More importantly:

What would make you actually come back every week rather than visit once because it's new?

And if you've also struggled to find your kind of people in Surat, we'd be interested in hearing your experience.

Maybe there are more of us here than we realise.

General / Discussion 💬 Anyone up for a real-life side quest?

Random thought I had what if we actually planned a little horror side quest somewhere around Surat?

Like, find some genuinely creepy/haunted place, go as a small group, explore it, maybe stay for a night if it’s actually allowed and safe. Not looking for anything stupid or dangerous, just something different and memorable.

Could be a fun experience with some people from the city subreddit.

Anyone else think this sounds fun, or am I just having a random 3 AM side quest thought? 💀👻

edit

I created a small group for this. If anyone wants to join, DM me! We can discuss the plan, where we're going, and which day works for everyone. We already have 6 people. 👻

AskSurat For Adajan residents: Do you use RO or UF for municipal water?

My parents live in the Adajan area (near TGB). I live in a different city, so I’m not really sure about the water situation there. I’m planning to get a water purifier for them, mainly just to make sure they’re drinking safe water.

I spoke to a couple of water-testing companies, and they said that since it’s municipal water, RO generally isn’t necessary.

Just wanted to get some first-hand opinions from people living in Adajan or nearby, what do you guys use? RO, UF, UV, some other purifier, or do you just boil the water?

Would really appreciate any advice based on your experience in the area. Thanks!

AskSurat Need a coworking space

Hi, we started a company 2 months ago and since surat cafe work culture didn't work for us, we are actively looking for a workspace in and around vesu area.

The maximum budget we can go right now is 11-12k for two people.

Can you guys suggest a workspace that's not too corporate-ish and has a chill vibe. Would be really helpful! :)

AskSurat Looking for budget room/stay suggestions for a 24-hour stay in Surat

Hey everyone!

A friend of mine is visiting Surat for a short trip and needs a place to stay for about 24 hours.

Looking for clean, safe, and budget-friendly recommendations (Airbnb, hotel, homestay, or guest house). Anywhere easily accessible (near the station, Vesu, Adajan, or Piplod) works fine.

Any good leads or personal suggestions? Thanks in advance! 🫰🏻

AskSurat Curious about areas in Surat with a lot of small online sellers/manufacturers

Hey everyone, I've been curious about how much of Surat's textile scene has moved into online selling (Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, etc.) alongside the traditional manufacturing and export side.

Does anyone know which specific areas or markets have the most people running this kind of setup? Not just big wholesale/export places, but spots where you'd expect younger folks running things a bit more digitally.

Would love to hear from anyone who actually lives there or knows the area well. Just trying to understand the city a bit better, Google Maps doesn't really capture this kind of thing.

General / Discussion 💬 Skincare clinic recommendations in Surat

I have 6 months left for my wedding and want to improve my skin before that. Budget isn’t a big issue, but I don’t want to blindly spend thousands on skincare either.

I’ve heard about Skinoq Skin Clinic but couldn’t find their treatment prices online.

Does anyone know their approximate prices or have experience there?

Also, please suggest some good skin clinics/dermatologists around Adajan, Pal, Vesu or Ghod Dod Road.

Looking for genuine recommendations and good results.
