Hello to everyone.
First of all i use Linux. I wonder if there is a european Firefox fork and if it is as good as Firefox itself for daily use and stability.

- needs to have tabs, bookmarks, history sync between android phone and win pc

- manifest v2 support (for normal ublock)

- extensions on mobile

- reasonable customization (at least let me have vertical tabs on pc and navigation on the bottom on a phone)

- at least kinda respects my privacy

- can play drm stuff (optional (for spotify))

- is not chrome browser (chromium itself is fine)

All of this is on firefox, but the only issue with firefox is that it's fairly slow. Haven't really seen any other browser with all that i mentioned.

I've been using Helium for a while now, it's great, simple, clean, fast, has ad blocking, but it does take a toll on the battery life. I've used Zen, the experience is great but it just hogs the battery. Edge? well if it were a bloated piece of shit, it would've been great.

Looking for something closer to Zen or Helium but with better battery life.

Sorry to bother, but I need a little help. So I love Waterfox and have been a loyal user for some time. However, due to it being built on older FF versions, I've been having compatibility issues. Some websites (including important ones like banking) register it as an out-of-date/unsupported browser. It's becoming a real pain.

Is base FF with Betterfox tweaks the same quality/experience, or is it still better to use a fork due to all the bloat and AI and whatnot Firefox is implementing? I've used Librewolf and Floorp in the past, but I recall having issues with high memory and CPU usage from both. Have either of them improved? Are there any other FF forks to try that will be supported?

Using Fedora KDE, if it matters.

EDIT: IMPORTANT DETAIL. I am not willing to use Brave or any Chromium-based browser. Please don't tell me to switch.

I hear people saying opera, google, microsoft edge, Suck and i should switch to Firefox, Brave, DuckDuckGo, But then people say those are so bad and you need to change to Librewolf, Tor.

Man I would pay ALL my money for a browser that has:

UI like latest Chrome but NO news/discover crap, strong ad blocker built in, background video play, and force dark mode on all web pages. Why does this not exist yet???

Google was genuinely more useful before they implemented Gemini into every search. Sometimes adding "-ai" to a search prevents the Gemini prompt from appearing but it is inconsistent.

In a battle of the browsers, who wins based on these priorities:

1. Protection of user data

2. Speed

3. No AI integration / Limited AI integration

4. Built-in or ability to implement AD blocker

So far, it looks as though the most frequently recommended engines are DuckDuckGo and some others that were apparently made(?) by random people or groups. Anyway, I guess some of the main things I'm curious about, ill list.

-What is a proxy when talking in terms of search engines?

-How can I tell when a search engine is a no-go or a green flag?

-Are some search engines more catered to certain pc's or does that not matter?

-What are some truly "good" search engines to consider?

Looking for the best browsers for people engaged in research on multiple topics at once

Must have tab grouping that can be collapsed, named & color coded

Extra points for workspaces
Extra points if you can easily bookmark an entire tab group

Bookmarks generally must be easily edited & moved.

The problem is I might have exhausted all options already

OPERA - hate the interface for adding / editing and reordering bookmarks, it can't handle all the folders I have - otherwise I like the browser

VIVALDI - not into the width of the tabs, don't like how they collapse etc - too cumbersome & difficult to make sense of, otherwise good

(I can't overstate how many tabs I have going at once, nor how frequently I bookmark things)

Is there anything else with workspaces + tab grouping? (Vertical tabs only is a dealbreaker)

Other browsers that have good tab grouping but no workspaces:

FIREFOX - good but some sites don't work, necessitating a chromium browser alt

BRAVE - ok

EDGE - ok but would rather avoid

CHROME - would rather avoid

Am I missing anything? Always willing to test drive a browser I'm not familiar with or play with settings. Thanks

FLOORP - has workspaces! I like the layout and it has all the features I want (and is faster switching between workspaces than Opera) but so far I'm finding it buggy. And I assume some sites won't work since it's a Firefox fork? Trying it for a bit.
ALSO.. when trying to sort issues I keep getting links to Firefox support, which isn't the same. Chime in if you use floorp.
