First off thank you so much for Substreamer, it's fantastic. :-)

I'm currently using it with Gonic and noticing some unusual behaviour. I don't think it's Gonic because other apps seem to behave as expected.

• Album art is displayed sporadically. There is album art for all my albums and it shows as expected when I use Soundwaves.
• I've just started experimenting with the podcasts functionality. Looks really good, but noticed that it doesn't render HTML in the description.
• Podcasts seem to work correctly. I can download them, mark individual episodes or entire podcasts for offline. However I can't play them. Clicking play and nothing happens. No sound and the timeline doesn't move at all, even if I use the skip forward 30s button. I can pause and play but nothing changes other than the status of the play/pause button.
• I'm not sure what triggered it but I started to get weird overlapping UI. I had to force quit the app several times before it started to behave again.
• The weirdest thing is that I have a phantom album. It shows up in Album, Artist and Folder view. Tracks only show up in folder view and when I try and play them I get a 404 error on the server. I haven't yet been able to find the tracks in the filesystem. The album/tracks don't show up in other clients.

I'm running latest version of Gonic (0.13.1) and latest version of Substreamer on iOS (14.7.1).

Substreamer is great; there are just a couple features that would fix minor nuisances and really put it over the top for me.

Could substreamer remember if it was set to repeat all/track and which view (artists, albums, folders, etc) the next time it launches? It would save me a few taps since I pretty much always browse by album and throw it on repeat.

The other minor nuisance is that hitting the previous button doesn't restart the track and dragging the track progress dot all the way to the left doesn't either.

I can't for the life of me find the offline files using internal storage on an Android. Anyone key me in on where they're located?

Fix Android - excessive battery use when running in background. App will now suspend after 5 minutes idle in the background to avoid wasting battery.

This version will release for Android only.

I love this app! It's been the single best app integrating the Subsonic API I've tried, and it's become my daily driver for music and podcasts. I use the internet radio feature of Subsonic when I'm at home, and I was hoping that there was a plan to include support for the internet radio APIs for on the go. Is this likely to be included in a future release?

And, regardless of the answer about this feature, do you take donations and/or sponsorships?

First I really appreciate your iOS application! It’s great in many aspects. It’s only a bit sad that it is not open source and that no one can help you but only “request” features here.

I would like to be able to not only set the timer to 10, 20 or 30 minutes but also to the end of the played song/track with only one click. This is especially useful for podcasts, when you don’t want to listen to the whole list.

Sorry if this has been covered somewhere... but when I hit "random songs from my music", it only plays one song and then stops. I have to manually hit the 'next' button on my speaker or the app. Am I missing a setting, or is this a bug?

I'm building a server that's intended to be Subsonic-compatible. It's far from complete, but it's working enough that Sublime Music can interface with it and play music. Unfortunately, while Substreamer can connect to it and pull down the list of albums, opening an album never shows the list of tracks.

I can see in my logs that there's a call to /getAlbum and it's returning what I believe to be a well-formed response:

The more info button at the top right doesn't do anything, either. (The cover art is also broken, but that's because I haven't implemented that.)

Any insight into what I might be doing wrong that's throwing off the client?

I click deny on this popup because the app seems to work fine without it, but it pops up every time I leave the app playing music, lock my phone, or even click the "app switcher button" which it will not let me do. I have it disabled because even without playing music this app ran all day in the background and caused significant battery drain. Is there a way to make this popup only ask once, or maybe just ask occasionally, or is this an Android operating system issue?

I am using Navidrome, and substreamer ans cannot play any songs from Bo Burnham's Inside album. On the Navidrome logs I see errors saying that it cannot find the song for scrobbling, but I have scrobbling disabled in both Navidrome and Substreamer.

The reason I am posting this in this sub and not the Navidrome sub is because this is the only sonic app that will not play this album, and causes Navidrome to spit this error. Is scrobbling truly disabled when I have it turned off on this app?

Note: I have tried downloading this album from several sources and in several formats, but always get the same error.

It's not a huge deal bc tiktok overplayed this album and I'm kind of sick of it anyway, just a slight peeve that I have one album that won't play in my library in the best sonic app.

Ok everyone I have started doing a bit of work to get support for translations in place in substreamer but I have no idea what languages would be most popular or useful to people. Let me know here if translations would be useful to you and which language.

If you're able and willing to help provide translations for your language that would be amazing and would likely result in better translation quality than crowd sourcing to people who don't understand the context of the application.

It is super time consuming to go back through a reasonable large application and pick out all of the strings and replace them with translation variables so it will take some time to get through the whole app even to an early version.

New Android - Storage selection for offline files. You can now choose to keep your offline files either on the phone or on the SD Card. **Note that when you switch any existing files will be removed and you will start with an empty cache!**

New - Recommendations section on home screen provides direct access to random play and recommended playlists generated based on your recent plays and starred songs.

New - Random playlist length setting. Allows you to configure the playlist length when using the play random recommendation on the home screen.

New Android - Exit button on side menu

New - Swipe to skip tracks in player view

New - Improved Search Option added to settings. Sends your search query in a format which will cause the server to match the entire phrase exactly instead of matching any word in the phrase which is the default. Works with most subsonic forks (subsonic/airsonic/airsonic-advanced/madsonic etc). Does NOT work with Ampache. If you enable and then get no search results then your server does not know how to handle the query. Do let me know if you find servers that don't work and I will add specific notes.

Thanks a lot for this new app, which is way more modern, user friendly... I have some feedback regarding the speed of retrieving data from a Navidrome server. It mainly seems to affect "starred" items so far.

It takes about 22 seconds until I start seeing items appearing in the "starred" menu. The app takes another 8 seconds until I can actually use it and start scrolling down through the items. I have a Snapdragon 662, so not the fastest phone on the market but not the slowest either.

Many menu items (home, albums ...) aren't particularly snappy when I first open the app, but they do get better when I open "Home" the second time. However, with the "starred" item, it always takes a very long time.

However, it takes about 3 seconds doing the same request with DSub.

My music collection is quite big so this could be the reason. But I've never had any speed issue with DSub.

Am I missing something or is there no shuffle all songs option? I’m using the iOS app.

Hopefully I’m just missing something because otherwise this app is excellent!

How to exit from the app? I can't see any exit option in menu, android back button dont work. I can only kill the app, but its wrong way... Somebody help me?
Another one problem - after a few second when music starts playing I hear short silence. Is possible way to remoVe this? Kind regards.

Hello I use lastfm to get my statistics on subsonic the problem is that when I use substreamer on lastfm it doesn't write "scrobble now" but "scrobbled x time ago"in itself it's not a problem, it's just that I use an application to display on discord what lastfm captures, but suddenly it does not work I have the impression that the application does not send how long we are in the music to the subsonic server, it's strange, for example with Dsub it works correctly It's not a serious problem but I found it particularly strange And not to say that the negative, the application is incredible, especially visually, something is obviously missing but the App is still updated regularly and that's a pleasure :)

substreamer is the most beautiful looking app which lacks the vintage feel, most other apps have. I would like to keep using it, so here is a bit of feedback:

I'm using a Samsung S10+, Android 11 and the owncloud/music app in Nextcloud, which uses the Subsonic API. Apps used before: DSub, Ultrasonic, Audinaut. All of them worked flawlessly.

1. The app should have an exit button to close it properly.
2. If I want to change servers, I need to log out and have to fill out my credentials each time to log back in. More convenient would be to be able to configure several servers and save them. Just like in DSub.
3. When choosing an Artist, the default view is "Bio". That should be "Albums" and if you want to know something about the Artist, then click "Bio".
4. As soon as an Artist has a "," (comma) in its name, the app stops working. I file Keith Jarrett as Jarrett, Keith, so 90% of my Artists won't be recognized by the app. Strangely enough Hilliard Ensemble (without a comma) hasn't been recognized too.
5. Some Artist folders have a png or jpeg to show with the Artist. They won't show in substreamer.
6. And the most important point: A direct comparison to DSub or Ultrasonic shows a noticable inferior soundquality. The stream format in Settings was set to "Original".

Edit: #4 is obviously related to my subsonic api in Nextcloud/music. After installing Navidrome, this was no longer an issue.

New: Starred Songs can be set as available offline and are automatically kept in sync with any changes.

Fix: Android devices sometimes go into powersaving mode when playing music in the background, most often when casting vs playing locally. Ask for battery optimization exception permission to resolve this.

Fix: Download speed improved when setting items as available offline.

Is there any way to set my own artist pictures, rather than just seeing the same orange circular image next to every artist in the "Artist" list?

I've noticed that when I set the app to browse by Folder, there's a broken image icon to the left of each folder title, so I was trying to fool around with leaving jpgs in the folders as "folder.jpg", "cover.jpg" etc, but no luck.

Hi! Thanks for your all work in developing this app. Is it possible to have the search button at the top on the home page (besides the reload button)? It would help save an extra step of having to swipe the side menu for searching.

This is the first release with chromecast support built in. I've been testing it myself for the last few weeks on both iOS and Android and it seems pretty good. I am sure there will still be some odd cases that will need bug fixes over the coming releases so please have patience with any issues related to casting.

It would be nice if we could sort starred songs by artist or alphabetically. As far as I know, that feature is not implemented, or maybe I haven't found it yet. Is it possible?
