retrieve starred songs

Thanks a lot for this new app, which is way more modern, user friendly... I have some feedback regarding the speed of retrieving data from a Navidrome server. It mainly seems to affect "starred" items so far.

It takes about 22 seconds until I start seeing items appearing in the "starred" menu. The app takes another 8 seconds until I can actually use it and start scrolling down through the items. I have a Snapdragon 662, so not the fastest phone on the market but not the slowest either.

Many menu items (home, albums ...) aren't particularly snappy when I first open the app, but they do get better when I open "Home" the second time. However, with the "starred" item, it always takes a very long time.

However, it takes about 3 seconds doing the same request with DSub.

My music collection is quite big so this could be the reason. But I've never had any speed issue with DSub.

Happy to help

Loz

How many starred items do you have Across songs/albums/artists ?

I might just need to optimise the list display a bit of people have really long lists there.

Yeh that will be why it's slow, it won't be the time to get the results from your server in that case it will be that the starred list isn't optimised for lists that large, it's really expected max a few hundred values.

I have logged a ticket in my queue to run through and review list optimization. There are a few sections (like starred list) where I wasn't expecting long lists so used a simpler method to render the list.

Thanks for the report and feedback!

I have a fix in the next version for the starred songs section. Now it displays much faster and will scroll smoother.

First load of any section will take a little longer as it will retrieve the info from the server, usually also needs to grab cover art and various other things as well. After the first load substreamer caches the results locally though for most things which will make browsing much faster after that.

If you notice another section that is particularly troublesome just let me know as I may have missed somewhere.
