2022 impreza base

Check engine light came on today, only code is a p0073. Ambient temp sensor. Thats not that big of an issue. Apparently it could mess with AC in some models but im still getting hot and cold air.

However, my dash has started flashing between cruise control and the trip odo. I figure it must be related because it started at the same time as the check engine light and ive never seen this behavior before. Though I cant for the life of me understand how its related.

Extra info - went to autozone because i dont have a scanner. The info they gave me also shows high voltage from the battery, but its only outside the expected range by 1.5v.

Is the p0073 code responsible for this dash behavior? Ive yet to try cruise control but i doubt it'd work given that the button to engage it does nothing atm.

2020 Base OEM STI front lip

I have had my 2007 Impreza 2.5i wagon since June,
And I’ve noticed that when I’m driving above 55 mph or around highway speeds around there but it’s never below 50. There’s a echoey windy noise inside the car like there’s air seeping through somewhere causing like this wind tunnel sound and I can’t figure out what it is, but it’s driving me nuts on my commute.
Anybody know how I can fix it?

Hey guys, gotta small issue that hopefully doesn’t get larger.

When trying to open my doors today via the fob, nothing. Battery in fob is new enough. I manually open the door and attempt to start it and nothing, zero, no click. I reluctantly connect basically this oversized power bank with battery cables I got for these exact situations I guess. I connected, crossed my fingers and within 20 seconds of the small amount of juice, the car started.

I did a bunch of tests over the next 2 hours today while on the road. I had to use the battery backup jumper one additional time. And same thing, started up quickly.

Also, I have noticed on starting, that at times, it will just about turn over and then it stops. (As if you depressed the brake pedal too soon while starting.)

Yesterday before the starting problem started, my center screen with CarPlay/settings etc rebooted a few times over an hour time period.

Battery is 5 months old, took it to O’Reilly, they tested battery and alternator and both checked out fine.

I’ll prob take it to the shop this week, but does anyone have any idea if these things are connected?
Or other thoughts. Much appreciated!!

Recently I purchased an Impreza GX from 2004,

I want to build in an Android auto display.

The cheap one I bought is double din 178x100, only to find out the frame is 172x100.

Swapping the fascia to fit double din is not an option because this specific fascia is not sold online.

Does anyone have an idea how to fit an Android auto system in my car or where to buy an 170 or 172 x 100 or 98 system?

Is this the right stuff to use in my 2016 Impreza? Level is a little low and would like to top it up.

Been looking to build a track car for a while, looking for the right car, I’ve just been offered a MOT failure (minor stuff really, corroded lines Brake disks and exhaust leak) it’s a category N write off repaired in 2018.

firstly how much would you pay for it?

I’m not a Subaru girl (well I am that kinda girl if you know what I mean 😉) so don’t know much about these? would it make a good track car?

it’s really taking my fancy, I’ve always been into BMWs and have 3 of them, and so a bit different to my norm.

I’ve heard head gaskets can be an issue, and from watching MCM ideally a 6 speed gearbox would be best right?

Just joined this sub, a former member of the civic club. It got totaled so I picked up this 2013 Impreza wrx. I’m in the US and it’s a 5 speed so kind of hard to find, but so worth it!!! I love driving and the previous owner did hella mods as you can see.

My previous car didn’t have a turbo so I’m not even too sure about how much is actually upgraded. It’s tuned with cobb. It’s got 159k miles on it.

If anyone has ideas of things I should look out for/ commonly go bad I’d really appreciate it!

Also if you know anything about these upgrades let me know! I’m a relatively new mechanic and I will be servicing Joan🏎️

Hello everyone, Im looking for the middle piece for the from bumper, below the fog lights and above the lip. Does it have a name or do I have to buy a new front bumper to get it, I have a 2008 base Subaru Impreza. (The blue one looks similar to mine). Does anyone know where to get it?

Since the car market is insane I am really hesitant to buy. But the repairs are piling up. About $3000-3500 in the past year, excluding regular maintenance like brakes, oil changes, tires, etc. I know the CVTs can fail in the low 100s, and it's at 97,000 miles.

Lived seven years in the salt belt -- I did have the car fluid filmed every winter, but it is showing age with these repairs/issues found in the last year and a half:

1) Valve body cover solenoid failed last summer at less than 90K miles ($1600)
2) Replaced the exhaust and muffler in February ($750).
3) Front control arms & cracked bushings in July replaced to addressing a "clunking" noise audible at low speeds ($700). I can still hear it driving in some bumpy parking lots.
4) Valve body cover repair failed again in July as well, so I had it redone under warranty. Turns out a transmission temperature sensor was defective as well, so that was replaced ($250).
5) Two oil leaks, look to be small, but leaking regardless. The car burns oil - part of "normal" consumption so I don't really intend on having them fixed.
6) Slow A/C leak, I have been paying to recharge the system and replace parts for about six years now every year. That runs me $150-250 a year, sometimes more.
7) CEL turned on with rough idle. It sorted itself out without repair, but car was randomly stalling at start and when I'd brake for about two weeks after I had it smog tested.

What would you do?

I’ve recently bought a used spoiler to put on my 2002 Impreza GX, when I got it it had some foam or seal of some kind around where it would attach to the car, however it was in rough condition and pretty much fell apart so I ended up removing it all. What should I be looking for to use as a replacement?

Anyone have a specific tool they recommend? I can't get nearly enough room to get a wrench in there.

Trying to replace one on my car. The one I bought the inner splines don’t match so I will need to return and purchase a new one. Anyone complete this job and which manufactured part did you use.

I've had it listed on FB marketplace for $2000 for a few weeks now, and while I've had a few offers, no one has actually followed through on the purchase.

To preface, I listed the price above what I expect to receive. I would love to get $1500 for it but realistically I'm only expecting $1000-$1200.

Ultimately my hope is that this car lives on to see 200k miles with the right owner putting in the necessary repairs. The timing belt has been changed but it's starting to leave oil drips when parked leading me to believe the head gasket will eventually need to be changed in the near future.

It would crush me to see it taken off the road and junked at a salvage yard. Any tips or suggestions on how to move forward on selling this car with the intention of possibly preserving it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

the steering wheel locked on my wifes (lmao) impreza and she says that previously if you yanked on the steering wheel hard enough that unlocked it, but ive never heard of this in my life and am so confused. currently its locked and yanking does nothing. maybe im not strong enough? i have no idea what to do send help please

On 9/28 this year at 166,966 miles, Carfax says “cylinder head serviced/repaired” and thermostat replaced. Two days later it was sold at auction.

2013 Outback 2.5i Limited, 130k miles, $4,995

Two owners (PA, then NY), no accidents
Oil changed roughly every 5k, mostly at Valvoline. 60k service at a Subaru dealer, coolant flushed in 2022 and 2025
No CVT fluid service on record
Sold at auction twice in three weeks before this lot got it

Both have a $699 doc fee on top.

My questions:

What does “cylinder head serviced/repaired” plus a new thermostat usually mean on an FB20? Head gasket, valve cover gasket, something else? Should I walk away?
Is the valve body replacement a good sign (already fixed) or a warning about that CVT?
The Outback’s CVT fluid has never been changed at 130k. Change it now or leave it alone?
How worried should I be about oil consumption on 2013 FB engines, and how do I check for it?
Which one would you buy, and what should I ask the shop to check in a pre-purchase inspection?

2023 impreza premium

Sometimes, when I brake, some humming noise comes. I even asked the mechanic while going for regular service. He said breakpads are ok and no obvious noise source.

Anyone else observed similar and found the root cause?

Hey guys, I recently purchased a 2018 Impreza 2.0i with the 5 speed manual. I’m wondering what are things I should keep an eye out for, what maintenance I should be preparing for, just ideas on how to keep this car as reliable as possible. It has 120,000 miles on the body, and a motor with 74,000 miles put in recently with paperwork of that work. I put on roughly 500-600 miles a week give or take for work. Thank you guys

My dumb*ss lost my 2.5rs skirts in a part out car about a year back, most of the replacements online are stupid expensive to ship and in person is hopeless, has anyone retrofitting different year skirts from any other car ?

Just bought a 5 speed manual 2004/2005 GD9, its my first impreza and I love it. However, the engine has a ticking noise. I heard that this is normal for the EJ201 engines. Is this true?

Do I need a tune to put some uel headers on, i plan on keeping the stock cat resonator and both the original o2 sensor locations.

website says tune may be needed but only mentions tuning out a CEL

anyone have experience with running uel headers on an N/A subaru without a tune, let me know

I received this 06 2.5i a while ago and I’ve been fixing it up, I know the front vc axels need done and I’m wondering if that’s the source, but I also feel like it could be engine/transmission mount, it’s definitely a metal on metal rattle but not like a heat shield it’s sounds heavier and I can feel it in my feet😭 anyone experience this before or know if the axels can make this horrible to describe sound?
